Great DO

I received this as a Christmas gift from hubby this year unexpectedly and I have to admit I love it more than I thought!(TBH I was eyeing a Le Creuset). My last Dutch oven I've had for almost ten years and I was ready for a new one. The enamel is nice with no chips and seems to be a nice smooth even coating. I never heat it above med or slightly above that(for searing). But usually around med/med-low. I have accidentally bumped it on the sink, another pan and such*cringe* but no chips! So I think I got a good one based on negative reviews. I love the shape of it, wider at the top that tapers just a bit towards the bottom. It has the dots on the inside lid for self basting which is also very nice. Mine came with the steel butterfly knob and an extra black plastic knob. Both are oven safe but the butterfly knob can withstand a higher temp. I like it more anyways because it's such a cute touch and the shape makes it very easy to grasp than just a round knob so I don't think I'll be changing it anytime soon. I first made some sweet potatoes in it for Christmas and to my surprise the color of the yams had stained the inside enamel! I was shocked because I had just got it that morning. So I read through the the booklet it came with and it stated to remove any staining simply soak the inside with a mixture of 1TBS household bleach with every pint of water for 2-3 hours. And it worked!!! The inside is like new again...Whew! Next I made beef stew, yum! I've made pot roast , chili, spaghetti and more all with great results and quick clean up. I love this DO and the quality is beyond what I expected. As you can see in my pictures it looks like new again. The red is so pretty, not a bright red but not a dark one either. The color does seem to darken when heated but that doesn't seem to be a problem. Her logo "Pioneer Woman" is made into the lid in pretty cursive and on the bottom it is embossed also in the same design. I love everything about this DO and I'm sure you will too. Wonderful design and quality PW!

Garbage

The first time cooking in the Dutch oven resulted in chips on the bottom and lid. The inside was stained after using it once with a simple pot roast. I can't imagine using it with beets or tomato sauces. Very unhappy with this purchase.

A Waste of MONEY!!!

I received the Pioneer Woman Dutch Oven as a Christmas gift. The quality of the beautiful paint is HORRIBLE to say the least! While searing meat and sauteing vegetables it began to chip during the very first use. A Few words of advice to potential buyers, DO NOT Waste Your Money!!

Disappointed

I love the pioneer woman and I was so excited when I received this as a gift from my husband. I couldn't wait to put it to good use but was quickly disappointed. After 3 uses the enamel began to chip and crack. After about 2 weeks of use the lid began to chip as well. I'm so disappointed in the quality of this pot.

SO disappointed!

I received this as a gift. It is beautiful. However, after just a week of use I had to call to get a replacement lid. It had chips all over it. Now the whole bottom of my pan has begun to chip off. Also, everything sticks to it and it is badly stained. I would have rather spent more money and gotten a good quality dutch oven.
Steph: We are so sorry to hear about the issues you are having with the dutch oven. This is unacceptable. Please contact us at http://thepioneerwomancollection.com/customerservice and we will be glad to help you.

Heartbroken, with a chipped bottom.

Got as a Christmas present (2016), which means I haven't had it 3 weeks! The paint chipped and the bottom is now cracked. Not to mention the paint and whatever liner was attached to the paint is now stuck to my stove... such a let down.
Dear PardonTheMess - We are so sorry that your dutch oven is cracked and the paint is chipped. Please contact us at www.thepioneerwomancollection.com/m/customer-service so we can help you resolve this.

Light use, chipped inside lid

Pioneer Woman LeCrapware. Used 3x to bake bread. No food has ever touched lid, which has only been rinsed with water, nothing harsh, no steel wool... Not even a sponge! Chipping off For $50, I could've purchased 1/4 of a LeCreuset Dutch oven that would've lasted the rest of my life. Avoid this junk and buy the real thing.
Dear nansno, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize about the inconvenience and disappointment in your purchase. We encourage you to contact our Consumer Relations team at http://www.thepioneerwomancollection.com/m/customer-service/ and we will gladly further assist you.

Chipped all over and every thing sticks

I wrote a review on the the butterfly skillet which you can read. This is not different. Everything from soup to beans and rice stick. I have tried heating it on very low heat and then higher heat and lowering the heat again and same results with what every I cook in it. Also I lifted it back to the back burners to cool, as I have ceramic top stove and when cooled washed it and the handles are a chipped up mess ! I use Dawn soap deterrent and a soft no scratch scrubby, and was so careful it should have never chipped after 3 uses. I am most disappointed in the quality, although the butterfly was a selling point, the quality of the skillet and dutch oven are very low. I had PD - and it took years to develop a chip I have CS - (I don't think I can mention the names and NO such problems. I am calling Wal-Mart for a call tag to send this back. I would no recommend this based on how pretty it is and how disappointed when your food is a stuck ugly mess !

Beautiful piece

I really love this enamel-coated cast iron Dutch oven. It performed beautifully during cooking and cleans up easily. What didn't come out with a good wiping, came right up with a little baking soda and water paste, looking good as new. One thing I will point out is that the Gibson (manufacturer) people are saying the butterfly knob isn't oven safe and you have to switch to the black knob. But if you read the actual instructions included with the pot, the butterfly knob is oven safe until 465 degrees and the black "bakelite" knob is only oven safe to 300 degrees. Not really sure whose info is wrong so I haven't used it in the oven yet, but it seems something named bakeLITE would not be made for high temps unlike stainless steel.

Nice Cast Iron Pot

I have used this pot only 1 time and it heated evenly, food did not stick and it was easy to clean. As with any pan used in the kitchen, except , for a non-stick saute' pan, food will stick. If your protein sticks, it isn't time to turn it over, not enough fat was used, or you should have chosen a non-stick pan instead. I prepared chili in this pot and allowed the food to simmer on low for 35 min without stirring and there was nothing stuck to the bottom of the pan. Read directions, read a good cooking manual like "On Food and Cooking" and educate yourselves in cooking properly, it isn't always the cooking utensils fault, it is usually the person doing the cooking. With that said, this pot is made in China and I am hoping that Wal-Mart and the Pioneer Women's people have checked out the manufacturer and all is good.
