Starts your fire in about 15 minutes as stated

Pine Mountain Ultra Fire Starters are used in place of paper and small twigs, branches, and or kindling to start a fire in your hearth or fire pit. They actually leave less burn debris since only one starter package is used to start the fire. One package contains 6 fire starters. Instruction say to place the fire starter on the grate of the hearth, stack 2-3 logs on top of it and light as directed. The packaging shows the end of the fire starter being lite by a flame source. Labeling on the box states that this product will start your fire in 15 minutes and that the logs can even be wet. I used 2 dry, non split logs for my test. After 15 minutes had expired, I checked on the progress of the fire. Yes, this product does start the logs. I feel this is an excellent product in that you do not have to collect all the kindling supplies and start building the fire. You can go straight to adding some logs over the fire starter and get things underway. Another advantage is that it will start even wet logs. That is a plus, since my log pile is not covered. In Columbus, Ohio, November is the season to have fires burning in the hearth and is a welcome smell of wood when family arrives for Thanksgiving!

    Easy to use

I didn’t realize when I first ordered these that they are “fire starters”. I thought they were the logs you just toss into the fire pit and light up for a rip roaring blaze. I happened to have some wood logs that were pretty dry, though, so I was able to give these starters a try right away. I used them outside in our clay chiminea. The instructions are clearly marked on the paper wrapper of each log. It was very simple to place the starter in the bottom of the pit, lay a couple dry logs over the top and light the starter in 3 different spots. I was expecting the wood logs to fully ignite before the starter log burned out, but that did not happen. The packaging says the starter log will last for one hour, which it did; however, the wood logs did not become fully engulfed for the roaring fire I was expecting. One of them did catch fire, but by the time the starter burned out, the log was only singed and blackened. There was no fully engulfed flames. I will definitely try another starter log with some fresher pieces of wood. I cannot say for certain if the quality of the wood logs was a factor in them not lighting. But, if you’re only going to be outside for a brief amount time, these starter logs will give you a nice blaze on their own for a short time!

    Fire Start Logs

Absolutely what is needed for starting a wood fire, easy to use burned for over 30 minutes even though package stated 15. I was having trouble as starting with kindling due to recent rains. Worked perfect. Easy start, easy use, great results

Great way to start your fire

I ordered these for review thinking that they were the size of regular fireplace artificial logs - first of all, they are not. They are about 1-1/2 to 2 inches in diameter, about 12 inches long. I could easily break one in half using only my hands. That being said, the pictures below show one of them as well as the resultant fire in our wood stove. So they work well. However - when I ordered them, there was nothing in the details about how these should not be used in a wood stove - they are more for an indoor fireplace or outdoor fire pit. Not sure if there are chemicals in them that might be harmful, but on the wrapper of the individual log, there are a bunch of warnings that probably should be on the outside of the box as well. These might have been on the box but it was not in the description of the logs in the web site - one might choose not to purchase these based on those warnings. However we have used regular artificial fire logs like these in our wood stove to get the fire going, so we were cautious with using them. We used one last night to get our wood stove fire started. Burns quickly, got the logs lit in the wood stove and they stayed going even after the starter log was burned up. This morning I used a half of a log - the one I had broken in half using my bare hands - and it did the job just as well as a whole log. You could probably break up these logs into quarters depending on the size of the fire you wanted to get going and stretch them out a bit. I believe they would do just as good a job with a smaller amount - and probably if there are chemicals which is why they don't advise using them in a wood stove, there would be less chemicals to contend with in a smaller piece of the fire starter. All in all, except for the warnings that were not made clear on the web site, I would buy this product again. Does just what is claims to - starts a fire. Much smaller than I anticipated but it works. Good product.

    Easy Light

Pine Mountain UltraStart Firestarter Logs, 6-Pack claims to have a full fire in 15 minutes. It can be used as a fire starter or as a standalone fire. So I have some green wood to burn and I figured put these logs to the test. Since its so warm I lit a bond fire outside using one of the Pine Mountain UltraStart Firestarter Logs. The logs were easy to start by lighting the paper wrapping and the pile of logs were completely burnt up in a short. These Fire starter logs are a easy and safe way to start your fireplace wood or bond fires. I would recommend these logs to all adults wanting to burn firewood.

    It works!

There are very few things I like about cold winters but one thing I love is using my wood burning fireplace. I store my firewood outside and as you can imagine humidity gets to be a problem in a place where snow happens. Even with a covered firewood rack the logs are not easy to start to burn. Over the years I tried many brands of starter logs in order to alleviate this problem but the results were quite disappointing. I still had to spend hours blowing at the fire in order to get it going. When I got Pine Mountain Ultra Start Firestarter Logs to test I did not have high hopes. I followed the directions. Put the Firestarter log on the grate and arranged 2 logs of firewood on top of it. I lit both ends of the paper wrap and walked away. To my surprise the fire was going nicely in 15 minutes. No additional struggles no kindling, no blowing. The Firestarter log was burning with the firewood for about an hour and a half which is longer than the manufacturer guarantees. I was very pleasantly surprised with this Firestarter log and highly recommend it to anyone with a wood burning fireplace or a passion for bonfires. Great product that delivers what it promises.

    quick start

I got the Pine Mountain Ultra Firestarter Logs for a State rental cabin we go to frequently. They provide the firewood, but we have struggled getting a a good fire going. The wood is usually damp and no kindling is provided. We have tried to cut kindling from the logs provided, but since its damp it doesn't help. And you can't bring firewood across state lines. This is a compact box, so it packs easily. There are 6 in the box so perfect for week long rental. These firestarter logs power through and gets even damp wood to burn. There is no funky smell and no risk like trying to using lighter fluid--and not the smoke you get from trying to use tons of newspaper. Just light it and boom-- sit back and enjoy as nice warm fire, without the hassles.

a quick warm and cozy fire

My Pine Mountain UltraStart Firestarter Logs, 6-Pack arrived well packaged and was easy to open. These logs are simple to light and in just a few minutes you have a warm and cozy fire. While I use them only at home they are small enough to carry camping and would really be a bonus for producing a quick and easy campfire. They burn clean with very little smoke. These would also work very well in a fire pit for a quick and delightful patio fire. I would not use these in a stove or for cooking or even roasting marshmallows as they are a chemical log, not real work.

Best way to start a fire!

I use to use the 3 hour logs for my fires. I stumbled across these and loved the price. I have used them for 2 winters and love how quickly you have a fire. They do work with damp wood and are so easy to start. I wouldn't use anything else. I am able to store several boxes at a time due to their size.

    Fire the easy way

I received the Pine Mountain UltraStart Firestarter Logs as a Spark Reviewer. They are great. They really do work on damp wood. I had some logs I had bought and could not get them to burn until I used one of these logs. Since it was in a firepit and not out camping, I didn't exactly have a supply of kindling to start a fire, but these worked amazingly well. They also work alone without other wood, which is another great thing about them. I live in Arizona where you don't often have cold enough weather for a fire, and these burn just the right amount of time to enjoy in your firepit. I like that they are paper-wrapped so they are not messy to handle. Just light them and enjoy. They burn very clean and I will be using them in my firepit from now on. No more hassles with "real" logs! They seem a little pricey at first, but if you compare with buying a bundle of firewood, they really are not, since there are six logs per box.
