A Good Choice!!
I got a chance to try this gift set as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. All in all I am a fan of the Avent Bottle Gift Set. From our experience, I found the PROs to outweigh the CONs: PRO: - Practical ... the bundle comes with everything you need!! Love the variety. The Sippy Cup trainer/attachment is a nice bonus as is having a bottle brush and travel container for formula - Size ... LOVE the shape/stature of the bottles. And with a newborn, I especially love the 4oz size - Easy to Read ... the numerical print on the sides of the bottles is extremely easy to read (especially compared to other brands) - No Nipple Confusion ... my newborn switched over to these bottles with no problems (he only spit up once); he cooed and enjoyed his milks! - Dishwasher Safe ... for me, this is a NECESSITY!! - Fewer Parts ... self explanatory :) CON: - Assembly ... while these bottles DO have fewer parts than other brands, I personally don't find getting the nipple into the ring to be an easy task; it actually takes me LONGER to assemble these bottles than to assemble the ones with several components - Not Diaper Bag Friendly ... as noted, while I personally LOVE the size, the bottles are too short/wide to fit into any of the pockets of my diaper bag; hence they'd have to go in the center of the bag and would be at risk for leaking - Nipple Flow ... my (to term; 8lb) 4 week old excels on the 0+ size nipple. It's great for him. BUT, if he were only a few days old, this flow would likely be too intense for him (even though this is the smallest 'size' nipple in the bundle) - Pacifier ... my newborn is not a fan of this particular pacifier; HOWEVER, we started him off on the Philips Avent Soothie Paci and he LOVES it; he refuses any other Paci EXCEPT that one! So, yes, all in all I am a fan of the bundle. It would make for a great shower gift and is perfect for trying out the Avent line. Would definitely recommend this product.

Excellent starter pack for teaching your newborn to love bottle-feeding!

First things first, I'm a stay-at-home papa, run my artisanal shoe business from home whilst caring for our 4 ½ year old and our 2 month old. I love trying new gear and gadgets, sure, but my main concern about anything isn't aesthetics (or special features) it's whether or not it works well for all parties involved in its use.

Function over form, every time.

Which works out well, as this set it pretty great.

Our first kid had a lot of trouble latching, could only do soy formula, and needed very specialised bottle as a result...so we were very unprepared for kidlet #2 to be so much easier to feed, by comparison. The bottles from the first time around? Not working for him, nor were the pacifiers/plugs, or really any of the things we had on hand.

Enter the Philips Avent Gift Set (newborn starter pack), something kidlet #2 seems to love (and that I'm thrilled with). Thus far I've used the 4 oz. bottles with the air-free vents, the plugs/pacifiers, the formula powder dispenser, and the cleaning brush. Kidlet #1 is too old for the trainer cup, so I'll have to wait for the newbie to grow a little.

Anyways, Gassy McFussypants (kidlet #2) is waaay less gassy and way less apt to spit-up using these bottles. Latches easily, has even started to figure out how to hold the bottle mid-slurp.

Kidlet #2 also loooooves the plugs/pacifiers included way more than anything else we had on hand/have tried. The few times I haven't had one of these to hand and have tried to substitute something else, well, let's just say we're all learning to duck a thrown plug.

Formula powder dispenser is easy to use, easy to clean, and carries well. Bottle brush rocks (which you don't read much)...not shaped "traditionally" it allows for greater ease of scrub and clean, and the other end is a hard plastic nipple cleaner, way less likely to get gross like a normal bristled brush. A+++ Would use again.

Totally going to make this pack something we give to all our friends who are expecting, as it makes the day to day much much easier. Spiffy gear, folks!

Oh yeah, and disclosure time: I received the product(s) as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel, free of charge, in exchange for writing this review. Didn't have to be a positive review, but it was. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Everything you need in one box!

Being the mom of a two-month-old who is quite particular about his bottles (and we have the bottle graveyard to prove it!) I was a bit skeptical that the Avent Anti-Colic bottles would be accepted by my son at all. The bottles that he uses most have a completely different nipple shape than the Avent bottles, but, because he does tend to suffer from painful gas, I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.

I was pleasantly surprised!

These bottles do exactly what they advertise. They come with a little vent that has two openings which allow milk to flow into the nipple, but not out-- so long as you keep it tilted upward a bit. (Avent has a pretty cool video that explains how the vent works). It really does keep the nipple full of milk which helps to lessen the amount of air baby takes in while drinking. Because my son prefers to feed in an upright position, this feature was really awesome for us. I did notice a bit of a decrease in the amount that he needed to burp and his fussiness post-feeding after using these bottles!

Though he took them happily, my son did tend to have a harder time latching to these nipples and milk would spill out of the sides of his mouth and he'd often lose his latch with a big sucking sound. I really do think this was because he is used to a vastly different shaped nipple rather than a design flaw in the bottle

I really loved that this set came with a variety of bottles and nipples for every stage of bottle feeding. This was perfect for us because my son needs the larger bottles for his 6 oz feedings, but is still using the slow flow nipples. When he's ready for a faster flow, we won't have to buy anything new!

What truly makes this set great are the accessories. We use the formula holder for every feeding because it's so much easier to pre-measure than to scoop each time you have a hungry baby waiting. I love that the divider is removable, so it can be a snack cup for cheerios or other goodies when baby gets older. I like the bottle brush a lot more than I thought that I would, and I find myself reaching for it more often than the brush that we already had.

By far our favorite thing in this entire set are the pacifiers, simply because they are the first pacis that my son has ever accepted and kept in his mouth. He was recently hospitalized for RSV, and they were an absolute Godsend in the hospital, often the only way we could calm him during painful procedures.

Bottles and pacifiers are hard to review because they're so subjective. Every baby is different and has their own preferences. Overall, though, I think this set is really awesome. Everything you need for bottle feeding your baby in one box... you really can't go wrong. This would make a great gift for a new or expecting mother. She'll be good to go for a long time with this set!

Wish I Had These Earlier

I received the Philips Avent Gift Set to try for free from weeSpring Parent Panel. I wish I had received or bought this starter gift set much earlier. My son, who is now 3 months old, was diagnosed with silent reflux issues early on, as well as having painful gas issues, so we were using another brand's bottles that we had received as a gift from our baby shower. While the other brand's bottles seemed to help, there were so many pieces to the bottle that needed to be washed, dried, and put together. I used to spend so much time just washing our son's bottles. These Philip Avent bottles help to soothe my son's gas and reflux issues, but my favorite part about these bottles are that there are not as many detachable pieces that need to be cleaned after each use. Saving time, as well as space, is incredibly helpful.

This gift set not only had bottles, but it also included 2 pacifiers with snap on covers (very helpful), two 9 ounce bottles, two 4 ounce bottles, three size 1 nipples, two size 2 nipples, 4 bottle vents, a transition cup with 1 soft spout (for drinking), 1 formula dispenser (with 3 divided sections), and 1 bottle brush. I would like to note that the handles on the transition cup are detachable and can be placed on any of the bottles. I also would like to note that I at this time, I have not been able to test out the transition cup and soft spout due to my son's age.

Pros: Does help with gas and reflux, less pieces/easier to clean than other brands, all you need in one kit, sleek design

Cons: The bottle brush would be better if it had bristles all the way around. I preferred using a different bottle brush.

Overall, this is a wonderful set, and it would be perfect as a baby shower gift for any expectant parent. I honestly wish I would have gotten this set earlier. It would have saved so much time. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Perfect set to cover all your baby feeding bases

Even though I'm exclusively breast feeding my second son, I'm still getting a lot of use out of the Phillips Avent Gift Set. When I first came home from the hospital, I was supplementing and pumping while I established my breast milk supply. I used the 4 oz bottles for both expressed breast milk and formula. Now that my milk has come in, I'm pumping once a day and my husband is using the bottles to feed our son. I like that the AirFree vent is easy to clean, much easier than other bottles brands where you have to use special tools to clean the vents. I don't think the vent made much difference with spitting up because my son still spits up quite a bit, but he isn't in any discomfort. The formula dispenser is designed well. The handle makes it easy to open in order to fill up the compartments and it turns smoothly. My son was not a fan of the pacifier, but it takes trial and error to find one your baby likes, so it's nice that the set includes one. I also like that the set includes the larger bottles, the sippy cup handle and soft spout for when my son is older. One of my favorite things in the set is the bottle brush. It's so nice that it is included in the set, plus, it works well and is easy to use. The best thing about this set is you'll be able to use it for more than a year and you'll be able to use it if you're formula feeding or breastfeeding, which is why I would recommend it for expecting parents or as a shower gift. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me the gift set to try! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Makes a great gift!

First of all, a big thank you to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing this awesome gift set! We were blessed with a baby that did not have colic, but she spit up (a LOT) and was very gassy. We had already purchased the Avent anti-colic nipples, which honestly were minimally effective, but the new AirFree vent system was a significant improvement. They did not 'fix' the problem, but made a big difference! I plan on ordering more of these vents for the rest of our Avent bottles. I like the slimmer bottle design (the vents also fit the older Avent bottle design), and I love that the set includes a formula divider container which is perfect for traveling. It's also awesome that this set comes with several 4oz and 9oz bottles, as well as a convertible sippy cup for transitioning! This set would make a great baby shower gift, and I'd definitely recommend adding it to a registry! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Making the switch to this bottle was a no-brainer for our colicky baby

As a mom to a 3-month-old exclusive formula fed babe, I was asked by WeeSpring Parent panel to try the Philips Avent Gift Set. After several weeks of use, I feel confident recommending this to any expecting parent or someone looking for a good gift for new parents. The set includes two 4oz bottles, two 11oz bottles, 2 pacifiers, a trainer cup, a milk powder dispenser, and a bottle/nipple brush. The nipple staying full of formula and the special Air-Free vent in the bottles were able to reduce the amount of spit up my son was initially struggling with when using other bottles. Another issue with other bottles was the nipple collapse mid-feed and my son would freak out and swallow air while crying which would also make more spit up; the special vent on the nipple eliminated the nipple collapse, thus the excess swallowing of air issue! In terms of cleaning, I really liked the included bottle brush; it helped ensure every nook and cranny were cleaned properly. Speaking of cleaning properly, the single piece vent and and wide neck parts definitley made it easier to clean. Included in the gift set is a transition nipple; although we are not ready for it, I can definitely see it contributing to an easy transition to sippy cups, especially for my exclusively bottle-fed baby who might become a little attached to bottles (like his sister did). The convenience of the formula dispenser is GENIUS! So easy to just toss in the diaper bag and not worry about lugging the messy formula tub around and with the removable divider cup, it would make a great snack cup once past the formula stage - what versatility! Something you might not know is that these parts are interchangeable with all of the Avent products - anything increasing usage, versatility, and the life of a product is amazing in the world of overwhelming baby stuff! This would make a lovely gift for an expectant mother. There are enough parts to get started on the bottle journey, but it's also not a very large overwhelming set, and we all know mamas-to-be definitely need less to worry about. I also like that it comes in blue, pink, and clear - for those mamas who are waiting to find out what gender the baby is or if the bottles will be used for multiple babes. I've already placed an order for additional bottles and have packed away the previous bottle we were using. I wish I knew about this when my 3.5-year-old was a colicky baby.

A Good Choice!!

I got a chance to try this gift set as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. All in all I am a fan of the Avent Bottle Gift Set. From our experience, I found the PROs to outweigh the CONs:

- Fewer Parts ... self explanatory :)

CON:

- Assembly ... while these bottles DO have fewer parts than other brands, I personally don't find getting the nipple into the ring to be an easy task; it actually takes me LONGER to assemble these bottles than to assemble the ones with several components

- Not Diaper Bag Friendly ... as noted, while I personally LOVE the size, the bottles are too short/wide to fit into any of the pockets of my diaper bag; hence they'd have to go in the center of the bag and would be at risk for leaking
