Saved me a ton of embarrassment
So, so, so glad I bought this. I’m dog/house sitting for the weekend, and of course I clogged the toilet my first night here. I thought it was a generic clog, the kind that goes down after a plunge or two. The first mission was locating a plunger in this house. I searched high and low and couldn’t find one so I tried the hot water truck. That didn’t work and I ended up having to scoop water out of the toilet using a cup and bucket. Then I tried dish soap and more hot water and let it sit there and still nothing after hours. I finally located a plunger and relief set in, just knowing my woes were over. Until.... they weren’t. The plunger laughed at me. I pumped until my hands were raw and still the clog prevailed. I was sick with worry fretting about having to explain to the family that not only did I clog their toilet, but I dumped a bunch of soap into it as well and now it’s just like a giant bubble bath in their toilet. I decided to try this auger and was especially lured in by the price. $6 for my dignity is definitely worth it. I ordered for store pick up and about an hour later the store canceled my order because it was out of stock. I panicked and ordered from Home Depot, it was only $3.50 more than Walmart. But on my way to the store I passed a different Walmart and stopped in and they had it! Thank god! I canceled the Home Depot order (why not save $3.50?!), and went back to the house to try it. At first, I thought it hadn’t worked because nothing happened. The water remained in the toilet. About to give up hope, I plunged one more time (after seriously like 200 plunges before the auger), and after one plunge, down it went!!! I was thrilled. I don’t have to tell the family any embarrassing woes and I didn’t break their toilet! Hahah. Now I will take the auger home and have if this ever happens at my house.

Awesome Drain Opener

Verified purchase

I did not read the directions for use and later discovered that the plastic sleeve slides down the cable, just exposing enough cable to do the job. I used it as shown in picture and cable was uncontrollable. This was due to the fact that I had too much cable exposed. When used properly, it does a great job. Much cheaper than comparable products elsewhere.

Quick Flush for you Buck

Nothing fancy and probably not built for years of use; however, this is good value for the dollar and it does the job when a plunger won't.
