This is the most attractive tea kettle I have seen in years. The rich look and feel of this product is superior to others in its class. I have seen this same tea kettle in other major dept stores for far more than what I paid here at Wal-Mart.com... Plus, I was able to have this product shipped to the store in my area and pick it up, fast and easy at the store (NO SHIPPING CHARGES) =+))))

I'm so happy with my Paula Deen Tea Kettle. I chose the red one hoping it wouldn't be fire engine red. It isn't. It's a lovely shade of raspberry with a good depth of color and little black spots. This kettle does not whistle for which I am very grateful. To keep the inside clean, simply empty the unused water and wipe the interior dry with a couple paper towels while the kettle is still warm. The outside washes beautifully, too, but I do remove the kettle from the stove when I cook to avoid splattering. This is not a lightweight aluminum tea kettle. It's sturdy and has a nice bit of heft to it. Good quality and reasonably priced. ( I used Site-to-Store which saved shipping and is incredibly convenient.) And it looks great in my kitchen. I highly recommend it.

I love the look of this teapot, which is why it is still sitting on my stove top as decoration ONLY until I find a replacement. I bought mine at a department store and payed WAY too much for it (around $50). I was a little disappointed it did not whistle, but I sacrificed that for its beauty. I used it for about a year before I noticed the lining inside the pot was eroding. I was drying it out one day with a white dishtowel and the towel turned black! I started wiping the the inside of the pot with a white, cotton dishrag, and the rag turned black! When I examined the inside closely, I could see the lining was coming off and exposing the metal beneath. Ick! And to think I'd been drinking the water heated in that thing! We have soft water, and I never turned the burner higher than medium high, so I can't imagine it was from misuse. I searched online to see if anyone else had reported such a thing, but no one else seems to have that complaint. Mine must have been a fluke, but I will not be buying another Paula Deen teapot for that reason.

Do not buy this to put on your wood stove. The handle broke off...I assume because of the heat.

    Beautiful Red Tea Kettle

I was looking for a red tea kettle. This kettle is very beautiful...just extraordinary color. I have owned it for a few weeks, but its weight and construction gives me reason to believe it will be very durable. I was a little disappointed in the fact that the handle doesn't move, which would make it more convenient when filling the pot. Also, if it was a whistling tea kettle, it would be perfect. Still, I love it...it's truly beautiful, and I don't regret my purchase!

This is a good tea kettle. My only regret is that it is not a whistling kettle and I occasionally forget that I've put water on to boil.

I love it. Just renovated our kitchen and went from old color scheme to stainless steel appliances with red accent color. This is on my new range and I love the look, the color, etc. The only downside to a kettle like this is the lack of a whistle, and since whistling teakettles sometimes fail to whistle anyway, it's a feature I would have liked, but not having it did not sway my buying decision. Instead, I purchased a timer to hang around my neck. The rule at our house (we're 55-60 years old) is "if you use the teakettle, you wear the timer". Hopefully, this will prevent me burning my kettle dry! (the timer was a walmart.com purchase too, just say'n!)

This is the perfect teakettle for the antique lover in all of us! The finish and color are fantastic - no need to hide this kettle in the cupboard. I leave it on the stove all the time because it looks so nice. The pour spout really is drip free. The silicone handle feels nice and stays cool. This style kettle does not have a whistle. I do not find this to be a problem, but be careful not to overfill it or it will boil out the spout if left unattended. The price is unbeatable. I found the same kettle at the different stores for over double the price. It is such a good value, I purchased two more to give as gifts.

I bought this as a hostess gift for a friend who has a very cute modern-rustic-country kitchen she has decorated in forest greens & dark reds. She has one other appliance in this shade of red but is using an ugly beige teakettle that is a modern no-style. I am impressed with the construction of this one. I have not used it and haven't given it to my friend yet, but it looks very high quality to me and it will blend perfectly in her country kitchen. Be sure to note that this kettle has black speckles splashed all over the red porcelain, which is just like old fashioned porcelain tubs, pitchers, etc. from a bygone era. The inside is a beautiful black enamel, so she can steep her tea in it and the stains probably won't show at all. The lid fits on very securely and the handle is high (away from the heat) and will be comfortable to use.

    • A. If you have a gas stove top and you turn the flame too high, the handle can get hot. If you just have electric, it should not be a problem. My handle never got too hot to touch. The bottom of the pot is the same thickness as the rest of the pot. The bottom is not plated. It's red enamel, just like the sides.

    • A. I am a representative from Paula Deen Cookware. The handle is designed to be heat-resistant. The packaging makes emphasis on the handle stating that it is designed to "keep your hands away from the heat". Under normal use and care, the handle may still get warm or hot, which therefore our Use and Care recommends to always use potholders when removing the teakettle from the stovetop. The base is not heavy or bottom plated; however, it is a very sturdy teakettle and will continue to boil water great for years to come.
