We like cook stir fry meals with this sauce and add HOUSE OF TSANG Spicy Szechuan Stir-Fry Sauce.  This gives us the base of the sauce and the Szechuan sauce adds some flavor and heat.  We use the oyster sauce for about 85% of the mix.  For quick meals we keep some different frozen stir fry mixes around and some cauliflower rice for a quick low carb meal.  Just heat up some toasted sesame oil, toss in the veggies and when nearly done, add the sauces.  Quick and tasty.

Great in stir frys.

Oyster sauce is NOT supposed to taste like two day old oysters. However, I made Har Cheong Gai clay pot last night, and it tasted pretty overwhelmingly of old oysters. I talked myself into thinking it was fine- maybe just a quirk of the brand or whatever- because it was late and I was a hungry grad student and I was out of leftovers that *wouldn't* have poisoned me. Luckily, the effect seems so far mild- I ate it last night and threw it up this morning, and I still feel queasy and have cramps, but not to the point where I can't go about my day. We'll see if that changes. 

But yea- I should have known better. I've eaten everything from American Chinese food in Panda Express, to authentic Chinese food in Beijing. There's a zero percent chance that I haven't consumed oyster sauce before (heck, I'm pretty sure I've cooked with it from other brands, although it's been a while). Nothing has EVER tasted like that chicken I made. And I'm sure it was the oyster sauce because the primary flavor was of the kind of oysters you'd get from a dodgy dockside bar and grill. Seems like I probably just got a bottle from a bad batch where safety standards weren't properly followed when making it, but I definitely won't be buying this brand again.

I used a whole bottle on my stir fry because I wanted a thick and lot of sauce on my beef and broccoli, but when I tasted it was not edible because of the salt, I had to drain the sauce and rinse my beef and broccoli in order to save my food, why add so much salt to a sauce???? If you can always add salt when cooking!!!!
