PBS Retro Space-Themed Virtual Reality Headset for Android and iPhone + PBS Lunar Base VR App

I received this item from the Spark Reviewer program and was asked to provide an unbiased review. The PBS Retro Space-Themed Virtual Reality Headset is a made to operate with a smartphone to view virtual reality apps. The headset is well-made and very comfortable. The goggles have padding for your face and wide adjustable straps for your head. The lenses inside the goggles can be manually adjusted forward/backward and right/left to fit the user. The headset has a tray that slides in and out of the viewer that holds your smartphone. The tray has a spring-sliding clamp that adjusts to hold your phone in place. The headset is just a viewer, the smartphone holds all the technology. You have to download a Virtual Reality(VR) app to your phone so that you can use it inside the headset. There are several VR apps available for free if you search the App Store for your phone. This was my first experience with a VR headset…my daughter and I had fun with it. However, this old guy needed a break during the rollercoaster ride…it will turn your stomach. The headset comes with instructions, stickers and a lens cloth. I would definitely recommend this viewer if you would like to “jump into” the virtual reality world…explore space, swim with fish. The PBS Virtual Reality headset is well-made, durable and comfortable…have fun exploring.

Really cool, retro style and it is super easy to use; Literally just put your phone in it, adjust the lenses, and that's it. They have good responsive videos on YouTube, but the space app is super cool too. Would recommend for a first time VR'er because you don't need all of the expensive equipment, just your phone!

My kids who are 7 and 10 are having the time of their lives with this. We already owned a VR glasses but this one fits them better and have a of options that I think have a better picture for them to view. Easy to load your phone and convenience of the side holes to allow headphones and fits everything from my oldest iphone to my newer Samsung S9. Holds the phone in place very well and seems very durable.

Not cardboard but plastic - doesn't feel cheap. Made very well, but I can't play until I get a phone with gyroscope (if you usually buy low-end phones, please check to make sure you have gyroscope (compass) sensor before purchasing. I'm due for an upgrade anyway. This design brings me back. Love this

PBS Retro VR Headset was welcomed with open arms and huge smiles. This VR headset works with any 3.5 to 8 inch iPhone or Android smartphone. Just download the Lunar Base VR app, available for free download on Google Play and the App Store. I utilize an Apple device. You can use this universal virtual reality headset for hours of entertainment and a realistic experience. I don’t let individuals use the headset for multiple hours. It is an experience for children. Feel like your a part of the show while sitting in your car or living room.

I don't know if the type of phone matters for the accuracy of the picture but the movies showed very vivid. The sound affects depends on the type of headsets that are used. The movement of these reality headset are viewed as if you are really at the movies. I will buy as a gift most certainly for anyone who are into these type of gadgets.

Set up was easy for my 10yo. He used a Samsung Galaxy 4 android phone and followed the instructions in the app downloaded from PlayStore. This is very similar to the Samsung Gear he'd seen with his friends. He seems to be enjoying it, especially when he plugged in his headset, though he gets frustrated sometimes when he encounters a glitch but overall "this is a cool VR headset", he said.

It's kind of an alright unit as far as lense adjustments and viewing goes, however getting your cell phone in and back out of the unit is VERY TROUBLESOME!! Tough sliding piece, for access/open, to place cell phone in unit for use!!!
