Small but Mighty
So my huney and I have been hiking/camping for a few years now. But I've always used a school backpack. He has a proper hiking backpack and always carried most of the weight. But his pack was always stupid heavy so I decided to get my own. I didn't want to spend a lot bc were on a budget so I took a chance on this one. This pack is AMAZE-BELLS! I stuffed this thing to the brim. Ever nook and cranny filled with backpacking camping gear. We also took two large dogs and had to accommodate for their needs. Picking the pack up was heavy! BUT with allllllllll the features, the moment it was secured on my back it was super comfy. I didn't feel like I was carrying 50+lbs on my back. There are tons of great features on this: a water (camel bag) slot with TWO exit valves for rightys or leftys, 2 quick snack storage on the belt, two easy access compartments on the top (one exterior and one just inside the top flap), secure straps for your walking sticks (which I don't use but still helpful), tight mesh siding so water bottles (or keys or extra snacks or baggies for trash disposal) don't fall out, and more! Best part for me was the FOUR different ways to tighten the pack. It just made it super secure. And even with that much weight it never felt heavy while hiking for a long.period of time. The height of the pack is adjustable and super easy to adjust. So if you have a short torso or long this pack can accommodate for that. DOWNSIDE: It's pretty small. This is a 40lt pack. Which means it's great for short trips, small people, or pared down (experienced) hikers. My huney's pack is a 70Lt and he can carry a lot more gear. Besides that this pack is great and if you can get creative with what u need or can Tetras the heck out of your essentials into small spaces... I recommend.

Great for 4 day hike.

I took this pack with me to hike backcountry in Yellowstone. I was able to fit 4 days worth of food in addition to clothes and toiletries. I strapped my sleeping bag to the outside of the pack using the buckles provided. I packed roughly 25lbs in it. I am 5ft tall and this pack was not too cumbersome for my stature. I highly recommend this pack!

Great Value

Highly recommended, I've use this for most of daypack hiking, and could easily gear this up for a 3 day backpacking. Lightweight with ample place for most of your gear, it's comfortable and stable with the help of the chest strap and the padded waist strap, breathable and good circulation.

Weekend Hikes

This backpack is great for my weekend 2 and 3 night hikes. I can hold all my gear and keep the weight under 25 pounds. Easy to load and unload the pack.

Ozark Trail Hiking backpack

I would highly recommend this backpack to anyone. It is a very nice backpack with all of the features you would get from a expensive name brand backpack at a fraction of the cost.

1. The Ozark Trail Eagle backpack is large enough to accommodate a small (1-2 person tent) and a sleeping bag (again a small lightweight bag in the 1-2 pound range). There are a couple of straps and several lashing points to attach your gear to. I think you will find that this pack is well designed and performs well over a short 1-2 night hiking trip. Anything longer than 1-2 days and you will be better off stepping up to the 65 L pack.

2. I have a hammock that I stuffed in the bottom zipper pouch. However we took a 3lb tent for our dogs. On the bottom of the bag there are straps that are meant to tighten the bottom of the bag. I used those straps to secure the 3lb tent. It held GREAT and didn't bounce around. I imagine if u don't stuff the bottom of the bag with anything...you could use those straps to secure a slightly larger tent. But probably not a super heavy one. So no designated straps for a tent. But it gives you options if you can get creative! Good luck and have fun!

1. Hi Scott, this would be a good pack for your size. The 40L could classify as a Medium pack. There are smaller packs but also 50L, 65L & 70+ Liters. Hope this helps. Thanks, LK
