This review is for Ozark Trail 45L Montpelier Backpack. The backpack is the perfect size for a weekend camping, or hiking trip. Spacious with tons of pockets. Cushioned comfort straps around waist to help with weight distribution. The waist straps are similar to a fanny pack with pockets to get to things you need within reach. The pack has extra wide shoulder straps that are also well cushioned. The back has an internal light weight frame for weight support. Trekking pole attachments, and a rainfly in storage pocket at the bottom of the bag. Hydration compatible. Some of the packs best qualities come from the placement of the pockets, and access from the outside allowing you not to have to unstrap, and dig to the center of the pack to find something. Hugely cushioned area that falls near the lower back is perfect for someone like me that has lower back issues. I love this high quality backpack, and I am sure you will too. I highly recommend to all!

Perfect for a longer hiking trip
This back pack has a TON of space. It has a million different pockets, ways to expand, etc and ways to shift the weight around depending on your height. There is a lot of cushion on the straps and the back of the back pack. I love the color as it shouldn't absorb too much heat since it's not black. It's slightly heavy but only because of all of the features, and it accommodates linger trips. If you're just going on a day hike for yourself I wouldn't use this, but if you're taking your family and you'll be the one carrying it all, or going for more than a day this is just right. The only weird thing to me is the chest clip goes at a diagonal. I'm assuming it's to help with weight distribution but it feels weird to me. It seems more like a sewing mistake when I look at the diagram, seems like it should be straight across. In the pictures you will see the different options of storage.
I'm excited to review the Ozark Trail 45L Montpelier Backpack because it is a great item. First of all I picked it out because of it's size. It looks tall and I was hoping I could fit my rolled up inflatable SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) in it and I can! I like the Ozark Trail brand as I have many items by them and know they are good quality. I like the color which I feel would suite a man or a woman. It has so many different pockets and straps that it feels versatile for any sort of hiking, camping or traveling situation. It folds down small and you can make the bag look smaller on your back than this massive hiking bag if you tighten the straps a certain way. I like that the part that goes against your back is heavily padded especially where it presses against pressure points. The straps that go around your waist even have their own pockets. This has become my favorite backpack and I can't wait to try it out on a camping trip instead of just using it to tote around my SUP and also my laundry to the laundromat ( it holds so much! ) Recommended.
Approved for a weekend camping trip
I'm pretty sure I can fit my whole body in this backpack lol. You can have one huge compartment or several small compartments. Organization features with this backpack are top notch.
I'm not a backpacker by any means – but I can say I would be very comfortable with a weekend trip using this backpack.
There is A LOT going on so I'm breaking each part down -
Hood pouch over the top for extra storage. Immediate access or storage for fragile items.
In the main compartment, the top has two cinches. I suppose this creates a little pouch at the top for organization. It does bother me that this doesn't have a zipper.
The front has a zipper that allows you to access the main compartment without disturbing items on top.
Bungee cords for basic use, but also some holders for trekking poles which is convenient.
Bottom pouch unzips into the main compartment as well. The included rain cover is convenient.
Tons of buckles and straps along the torso - very secure. Straps padded well and the frame provides great support. Comfort is not compromised.
Small pouches on the straps for convenient storage.
Overall, I'm very happy with this backpack! Can def recommend using it for a weekend camping trip.
Not just camping
So much room, so many compartments! So much can fit in it. Even has a hidden cover for wet conditions. The straps are well padded. The back is ridgid for support. Has 2 slots on the sides for your water bottles.Even has a cutout for your water bladder tube. It is well made and high quality. Seams are tight. I find luggage cumbersome. This would make an excellent travel bag. Or a bug-out bag if there is ever a need to evacuate. I expect it to last many years.
I highly recommend it.
