Really dull out of the box. 20 minutes on belt grinder had it paper cutting sharp. Then I worked on the spine to smooth it out - it was rough. It's a nice blade now. Didn't mind working on it in light of the price, but wouldn't want to do what I did without a powered grinding tool.
