My skillet has uneven heating -- don't know if they all do. After about 2 weeks of use, we began to have food sticking around the element in about 1/3 of the pan, and it has continued to stick in more of the pan. That doesn't usually happen with the standard non-stick skillets until after months of use. Apparently it is not immersible even though the only place that tells you that is under "Remove the temperature control probe" in the Care and Cleaning Section. Then it tells you not to immerse the temperature control probe or skillet in liquids. Nothing else mentions that! It does say that it is not dishwasher safe. I'm sure I wouldn't have bought the skillet at all if I knew it wasn't immersible. After going back and looking at the box and paperwork, all the pictures just show it being wiped out. Once food starts sticking, it is very difficult to clean, and since it is a light color, everything shows. I'm thinking I will be replacing this very soon with something else.

I have been using the Oster Titanium Infused DuraCeramic Electric Skillet for a couple of weeks now. I have made several different foods, including French toast, pancakes, quesadillas, pizza pasta and chicken with garlic. The skillet heated up quickly and the glass lid was perfect for easy viewing during cooking. And the clean up was a breeze with nonstick surface. I did however find a couple of cons with the product. First, the heating is not uniform. There is a definite circle of heat created by the heating element. This became evident when cooking pancakes. But in other meals, it did not effect the performance of the skillet. The other con is the discoloration that has already occurred where the heating element is located. But again, it does not seem to affect the performance. Overall I am enjoying the skillet and look forward to more meals. It is a nice skillet for the reasonable price. (I received this product at no charge in return for an honest review.) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I was so excited about this pan! I had read the negative reviews as well as the positive, so I was absolutely careful to baby it, as I so didn't want the dream to end. Sadly, it did. Once that ring starts to form in a circle directly on top of the heating element, the party's over :(... In the end I was extremely resentful towards Oster, as they've been around so long, and there are enough reviews around on this that they can't deny being aware of the issue, and don't seem to be doing anything about their customers loss and frustration, which is a real let down.

I have to honestly say I am pleasantly surprised with this electric skillet! I have cooked just about everything you can think of in it! From a full breakfast fried potatoes, fried tomatoes, eggs, bacon and sausage! Ive done cabagge rolls, steak, pork chops and veggies. Even made a pineapple upside down cake in it. I really couldn't believe that turned out fantastic. I found the recipe on pinterest and had to try. Everything cooked in it turned out really good and tasted amazing. With it being summer time here in Tennessee it saved me with heating up my kitchen. Kept it nice and cool and burned less energy. I really appreciated that. And clean up was a breeze just warm soapy water and wipes out beautifully. No sticking what so ever! I received this electric skillet to review. I wasn't sure honestly how I'd like it. But now its one of my favorite kitchen appliances that I use at least twice a week if not more! I'd definitely recommend! Great product! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

My husband and I use an electric skillet everyday. We cook healthy meals from scratch and do a lot of reheating with a tabletop skillet because we do not own a microwave, and the electric skillets heat fast and are usually a breeze to clean. My husband even travels with a Presto non stick skillet. I picked this up because I thought the "non flake" coating would be great. My last skillet peeled after just a few months. Oster is a big brand and this looked sturdy. After 2 weeks of use I can tell you it heats very inefficiently. The edges around the element would get too hot and burn food quickly. I even tried lowering the temps under the recommended settings. Everything started to stick every time. I tried using oils to pre-coat, but it still burned. Also, the light colored coating stains almost immediately. I cleaned it according to manufacturer directions with baking soda. It removed the burned food but still stained. Lastly, it began randomly cutting off. Food would go cold, and quit cooking, only to come back on and burn later. Got my money back and went back to $19 Presto, which is superior.

    • A. while ceramic is durable, I think you would be pushing it to use metal utensils I would suggest teflon or nylon utensils so you don't scratch the surface. Make sure to let this skillet cool before soaking or washing it. after it cools you can soak the skillet, but I don't think you will ever have to. just wash it by hand using a nylon or teflon scrub pad if need. generally, just a good wash cloth will do the trick. do not get water on the control in any way.

    • A. I flipped completely through the manual. Believe it or not, this was not mentioned within the instructions, nor is it anywhere on the box. I would say "no", just to be on the safe side. Even if it doesn't peel, you could leave microscopic scratches, which could hold on to food and stain. It does state not to scour while cleaning, but to use mild detergent and soft cloth. For stains it recommends soft sponge with baking soda.
