What an amazing laptop! Let's start from the beginning. It comes shipped in the actual packaging. The packaging was solidly built and arrived in good condition. When you first open there is a sheet with the specs as well as a sheet directing to an online help manual. On the side is packed the power cord. The laptop itself has a protector for the screen.

Let's move on to the looks of the machine. It's fairly thin looking for that amount of specs packed into it. It has a cool logo design on the cover. It is primarily plastic. There are two big fan vents on the back to keep the machine cool. It has two USB ports on the side as well as a memory card slot. The majority of the ports are located in the back. This includes a USB port, a thunderbolt port, an HDMI port and a wired internet port. The keyboard and track pad are great. It is not the lightest laptop but for its size and specs it's pretty portable.

Moving on to the actual use of the laptop. It powers on quick thanks to its SSD hard drive. It handles regular computer tasks with ease. The monitor is bright and matte which cuts down on glare. It handles graphic-intense games very well. It can get a bit loud as the fans work to keep the machine cool. I didn't have any issues such as skipping or crashing while playing. The graphics card and CPU handled it all.

If you're looking for a portable gaming laptop that packs a punch, this is the one!!

Totally AWESOME!!!

I can't even find words for this laptop... besides being a great looking and well designed, it is super, SUPER fast!!! I have owned many computers,built a few gaming computers and nothing I have ever built or owned compares to this... The built-in Omen desktop allows you to switch between gaming and normal use in a matter or seconds to reduce wear on the processor and keep it cooler for normal work, but switch it up and the gaming kicks in, and it even allows you to use Ethernet and WiFi at the same time to utilize full internet gaming speed!

I had a little issue with audio when setting it up, it fixed it's self! HP quality, and Support have always been top notch in my book... No adware crap like many laptops on the market... NONE!

This is a true gaming computer! I have no reservations about recommending it to everyone!

I did receive this as a part of the Spark review program, I did not pay for it. BUT... knowing now how awesome this is, I would not hesitate to purchase one myself. I will be purchasing the mouse and headset to go with it to get the complete OMEN gaming experience!!!

VERY, VERY impressed!!!

The laptop handles a ton of video editing really well. I'm kind of amazed. I'm a Macbook Pro user, and for a long time, PC just doesn't compare when it comes to really intense performances, such as seamless video editing. But this did it, and more. Its performance is top of the line, with a lot to work with.

I was switching between a lot of tabs, uploading and downloading pictures (like 100+ gigabytes because transferring to this new laptop), and had a video editor program running (I'm always editing videos). I also had FB messenger in the background. So, the tasks I was doing was somewhat intense when the fan kicked on. I would say this fan isn't as loud as my previous laptop (it was a 2011 Macbook Pro). But, it was loud. I would imagine if I didn't have a desk that promoted a cooler environment for laptops, the fan would've kicked on much faster. That said, I am impressed with the speed and stability/performance with all these tasks running concurrently.

Gaming-wise (as well as the value), it's a great bang. The hardware that's on this easily surpasses the retail value, so you're really getting a lot in terms of hardware build. I haven't had to overclock, and a lot of the games I'm currently playing has been performing well. Much better than I expected with the HP Omen. 256GB of SSD though is not even close to big enough storage. Switching it out right away… lol. But that's fine. Values of SSDs are so much more affordable nowadays. And the graphics – one word: AMAZING. The sound is okay, to be honest. I don't expect surround sound like my gaming PC on my home desktop, so the sound on this is pretty good for a laptop (better than my MacBook, actually).

I'm used to being a Mac versus a PC, even though I game regularly on PC. I don't like how I have to install a bunch of things to make it run faster. In this way, I will always be a Mac user at heart haha… I downloaded a package that has an antivirus, all the apps most people would need and something to make gaming faster. That's a major annoyance since with a Macbook I don't have to worry about this as much.

As of right now I want to rate it 4 stars because of the gigantic battery thing. It's heavy and big compared to other laptop chargers. Is it an HP Omen thing? Because every HP Omen I've seen comes with a brick-like charger, and that's crazy. However, considering that gaming on this is very CPU and power-intensive, it somehow makes sense. If this was an office-related type of laptop, I'm not sure this brick-like charger would be necessary. But because of everything else (performance, build, etc.), this is a solid 5 star laptop for gaming and more.

Great reliable laptop with excellent hardware for the price. But definitely recommended is upgrading to a 1TB+ SSD. That's another thing; with the HP Omen laptop, ram and storage is so easy to upgrade that anyone can do it. Really, ANYONE.

I've given some thought as to how I should proceed this review, and instead of testing this laptop with a lot of benchmarks and technical gibberish, I've decided to just go ahead and install several type of games and provide you with real-world experience. In my opinion, this is what really counts after all is said and done.

The OMEN HP 15 Gaming Laptop is aesthetically pleasing, and the black and red color scheme gives it a classy look. The laptop is very lightweight and easy to carry around.

Instead of providing a detailed installation manual, an illustrated "Quick Setup" chart was included and connecting the cords was fast and easy. My WIFI details were quickly detected and in a matter of seconds internet connectivity was established.

This laptop is configured with top-of-the-line high-performance hardware components, and my compressed games were installed in record time. For testing purposes, I chose the following games due to their varying graphics and sound complexities along with system resource demands: 1). Shadow of The Tomb Raider [Croft Edition], 2). Battlefield V, 3). Project CARS 2, 4). Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands. After each installation, all of the games were maxed out on Ultra settings.

The graphics were visually stunning to say the least, and the clarity and ambient environments easily rivals my 2K desktop gaming monitor. Also, during gameplay there were no stuttering or freezing issues, and I didn't notice or observe any frame rate drops or any other performance degradation due to such high settings. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands have *some* of the best scenery I've seen in a game. I was very impressed with crystal clear rivers, breathtaking forests and lush greenery, along with beautiful mountainsides. The night scenes were spectacular, too. Project Cars 2 greatly benefited from the gaming laptop monitor's low response time, and I couldn't detect any input lag at all. The fast refresh rate of 144Hz also resulted in smoother gameplay in Shadow of The Tomb Raider and Battlefield V as compared to my 60Hz flat-screen desktop monitor.

In my opinion, the laptop's onboard speakers are not adequate for gaming, so I used a decent set of headphones and further improved the sound quality with a software program called "DFX Audio Enhancer" instead. This resulted in a much more satisfying and immersive gaming experience that the speakers cannot provide. I was able to hear loads of surround sound effects as well as considerable loudness. The sound of Helicopters swirling above, stunning and life-like weapons and distant conversations and also powerful and rich sounds of muscle car engines were very mesmerizing and exciting to hear.

All of this gaming fun comes at an expense, and that would be hot system temperatures and faster battery power drain.

For example, the CPU temperature readings in Project CARS 2 started at 55-57 Celsius, but when the game loaded the temps rose to 90-92 Celsius in a very short amount of time. During only 14 minutes of Shadow of The Tomb Raider gameplay, the battery went from %100 to %82. I didn't need to try and play the game continuously to know how much time will it take to reach zero: From that reading alone I already know that it is recommended to play such games with the unit plugged into an AC outlet, and not attempt to do any demanding tasks on battery power. It's also a good idea to buy a cooling pad as well.

In my conclusion; I have to admit that when I first started playing games with this gaming laptop, I was quite skeptical due to performance issues and thinking that laptops are just too under powered to handle the type of games I play on my gaming desktop computer. However, this OMEN HP 15 Gaming Laptop has exceeded my expectations and changed my whole perspective of what laptops are capable of. This stylish gaming Laptop is an excellent and I heartily recommend it!

The Omen by HP is a sleek and powerful surprise. The first thing I noticed is the keyboard set up. The keys are placed for gaming The four color back light is a nice touch. The Omen by HP comes with a command center that, with the touch of a button, allows you to check the temperature, CPU as well as download and uploads speeds. Through the Network Booster you can prioritize you apps which is essential when streaming. This laptop has Game Stream which allows you free remote streaming anywhere in your home. The Omen coaching highlights your strengths and weaknesses and gives you feed back. You can organize all your games in one place and it tracks your games across multiple files. The graphics are incredible. We ran it at GTA5 and it was smooth as butter! The sound quality is impressive. We put this lap top through many various games and streaming situations and the experience was equal to top quality desk tops. This a a true gamer lap top. I am totally impressed.

Great computer. In the process of changing my desktop software and files on to it and make it my main computer. Keys are colored and are customizable colors and so much smoother and quieter. Love the number keypad also. Processor just seems to sing and graphics are so crisp and smooth. Seems like everything you do gets done in an instant. Only suggestion I could make is maybe make it a touch screen also.

I gave this product to my oldest son 16 . He love it. He can play a lot of games on it. I was going g to give it to my husband but he said it mostly for gamer. So I gave it to the kids. . They play on it for hours a day. I'm wondering if it was strong enough to last that long. But it still working strong. . Games will not crash. That's a good thing. . I see I will love the laptop and desk top computer for my personal use and my husband agree. I Will recommend this product to everyone who ask for the gamer and play a lot of games.

This omen gaming laptop is amazing. The features are unbelievable .it has great picture and everything you could want for a fun time playing games. It's easy to use and the keyboad lights up with bright colors. My husband loves playing on this. It has a lot of memory space and space to load your favorite games. We love this laptop! We wouldn't pick a different one for gaming.

This is our 2nd gaming laptop. We love the looks and design of this Omen model. It is much better for playing 3D games than our Pavilion gaming laptop we got from Walmarts '18 black friday. The Geforce 1660 Ti graphics with 8gb ram built in to it is double that of our old one with a 1050Ti Geforce. It has a 9 gen i7-9750H 2.6GHz CPU over the older 8th gen i5-8300H 2.3GHz and it can play online games on high or ultra unlike the Pavilion which gets very hot when playing on medium settings. This laptop gets very warm but it has much larger venting on the bottom and two fans allowing air to flow in better than the our other laptop with smaller slots and just one fan. I would recommend a fan cooling pad under it like the one in the pic I posted when playing 3D games in "Performance" gaming mode. The Omen Command Center has two other settings, "Comfort" suitable for casual tasks and "Default" for all types.

A downside is it has a small 256gb solid state drive unlike most laptops with 500GB-1TB hard drives so one third of my storage space is already used up with just two games added so far.I'll be upgrading it in the future. It doesn't have a CD disc drive like newer laptops nowadays but does have a card reader and 3 USB ports. Webcam is grainy but better lighting may help. Also I've noticed it does not seem to have a long battery life, maybe 2 hours. After piddling on it not playing games, on a full charge it was down to 50% in a hour.Turning off the back lit rainbow keyboard would help but it looks so nice! And you can change the colors of the keys if you don't like rainbow.

Setup was easy and fast and we were online in no time.

This is probably one of the best if not the best laptop deals for black friday 2019 so don't miss out! This laptop has a 144hz screen and a gtx1660 ti that is NOT a max q. Has bluetooth 5.0, webcam, built in mic, wifi and rgb glow keyboard. Its also very aesthetically pleasing and nice design. Thunderbolt port included. All around great deal. The mouse and headset are just icing on the cake. Literally the only drawback to this laptop is its small SSD at 237gb actual size. You will probably need an external drive at some point in the future. Upgrading the space on the laptop will be a hassle due to only having one 2.5 bay. You will have to save all your data externally then put a new SSD in. The small SSD should be fine for bare bones windows and gaming. If you do editing use lots of large files, this laptop may not be for you unless you are willing to spend more $ on external hardware and their required peripherals.
