Used at my son's movie party at the house made great tasting popcorn. If you have a large crowd you will have to pop more often but the wait time is only a couple minutes and a fresh batch is made. It was a huge success

They have these type of poppers all over this X-mas. I picked this one 1st and I'm glad I did. It has more room for the corn to pop. Some reviewers called this a "novelty" and indeed, it is, BUT a fully working, best tasting, kettle-type popper for $50? I can bang out 3-4 batches, one after another and the whole bunch has more corn than they can possibly eat. You CAN make one batch after another, get a small, natural bristle pastery brush (the bristles will burn or singe slightly) and swirl out any left-overs, add more oil and bingo, another batch. Made my own popcorn salt by blending regular salt, it turns to powder. You can add any flavor you want, from garlic powder to any herb, sage is REALLY different and I actually threw popped corn into the Thanksgiving stuffing. We are GF in this house and no even knew what the "filler" was in that stuffing. I have used olive oil as well as palm, coconut & sunflower. I like olive. I have put salt as well as sugar in the kettle itself. It burns. I like adding extras after the corn is in the bowl or else be prepared to clean. Letting the oil heat up is good but I think following the directions is better. EXPERIMENT! This thing is a lot of fun. I used steel wool to clean it after burning sugar in it, perfect solution. BTW, all the kettles (the unit that heats up) are the same size in these little corn poppers! If you overfill it with corn it gets stuck in the kettle. Quick! Turn it off. You won't be able to move anything till you get some of the popped corn out of the kettle. The world has not ended and it is not broken, just over-filled. I am using organic popcorn from Trader's and it pops BIG! All my friends are amazed at this thing! It is so darn cute. Makes the house smell delish! You don't know what popcorn is till you sprinkle it with cinnamon and sugar! :)
I bought this for a gift for my mom because she has been saying she wanted an old time fashion one for so long now. I bought this one not realizing that there is actually a taller model (one that stands on the floor) but i think this one is still adorable and everyone will get a good use out of it.
I haven't used it yet but I love how it come fully assembled the only thing I didn't like it's much smaller then I was expecting. I thought it would be a much bigger machine. It's a bit flimsy and very narrow not made for people with big hands like my husband he almost broke the door off checking it out he said it's like a cheap toy, But I think it looks amazing I can't wait to try it. It's a good thing I read ALL the reviews because I wanted to make good movie style popcorn for my grandkids - so I tried all the suggestions. I experimented with all types of oils and different popcorn. It took me around 20 times to make the perfect popcorn and this is what I have learned. YES to the little magnets that weighs down the lids so hardly any popcorn will shoot out - very good tip! However this is the only tip that worked. DO NOT preheat your popcorn maker more than 1 minute - it heats up fast. I have learned when the popcorn maker is prehated for longer then that it becomes too hot and pops the kernells TOO SOON. When kernells are popped too soon they are hard and chewy. Many complaints where made about hard popcorn - some said it's because of steam or what not. Nope - not true. All you do is turn on maker - preheat 1 minute ONLY and then add oil and popcorn as the directions say - don't add any extra. YES to the coconut oil - it makes better tasting popcorn and it's heathier too. If you want to make more popcorn then let the kettle cool down a bit before making more or once again the kettle will be too hot and will pop the kernells too soon. This popcorn maker makes great fluffy popcorn and it's cute too!
I bought this for my wife for X-Mas and she loves it. I only have two things to say. For those people who say the kettle stopped working, check the connection on the bottom. When you tilt the kettle the wire moves also. It can get loose. Ours didn't get hot at first, but I double checked the connection and it was just a tad loose after tilting (playing with it) a few times. And the problem with the unpopped kernels. We had that problem too. Then I just put a small magnet on top of each door to add a little weight, and problem fixed. Before, the popping kernels would pop the door up and unpopped kernels would fly out. With the extra weight the doors would only open when the popped kernels would begin pushing up on them. Hope this review helps those who plan on getting this, and those who already have it.
This machine was used for a carnival birthday party. It popped the kernels well and we enjoyed it. Make sure that the kernels are cleared from the previous popping. If you leave kernels in and start another batch old kernels will burn. Use small scooper, you will be surprise at how much popcorn is made.
Looks---Very nice, size---Too big for the counter, too small to put on the floor, if you follow directions it doesn't make enough popcorn at one time for everyone, also doesn't taste very good, too dry. Use more oil, put in more corn, shut off when popping stops so you don't get many burnt ones, OH, put oil in and let it get hot before adding corn. I have to keep moving it to get into a cupboard, but if you use your own amounts of oil and corn it is quick and taste delicious. Am I glad we have it, yes I am.
item was bought online and was shipped directly from factory to my house. when i put together to make popcorn i discovered the kettle had dried oil and popcorn hulls in it. they sent a used popcorn machine. i chose not to take another popcorn machine and walmart took back and refunded money with no problem what so ever. this was in no way walmarts fault....it is nostalgia electrics fault as it came directy from them..
