    OK...but there are flaws

PROS: Color & Design: Great color. Modern. The folding futon mechanism works really well and seems like it should hold up to normal use. The pillows are also a nice add. its very long and can sit 3 people easily. Comfort - Firm but comfortable Price - Hard to find a futon/couch that looks this good at this price. CONS: Construction: During assembly, the side arms are bolted to the base by the customer. The holes that were pre-drilled left side of the base are just too wide for the bolt and washer to tightly fasten. The tighter I screw in the bolt the more the washer bends into the oversized holes. This causes some wobble/play in the left side arm with only a little pressure. I expect after only a few months of normal use that the bolts will crack through the wood base because of the oversized hole . I plan to purchase larger washers and/or create a stronger wood brace so that this doesn't happen. Packaging: In transit, the box was damaged and there was a tear in the bottom of the couch. Tools Included to assemble the couch: The hex/allen key included is a pain to use. They should upgrade to a small screwdriver with the appropriate size hex head. Futon legs: The gold legs are really bold and ugly. I painted them black. I also added felt tips to prevent scratching the floor. Shipping: The delivery company would only deliver the couch to my building but refused to deliver the couch to my apartment even though we have an elevator. they told me it would be a $45 fee to deliver it to my apartment. I called Walmart about these issues and they did offer a discount on price. I reluctantly accepted it rather than returning the couch. It would have been too much of a headache to pack up the couch and take another day for the delivery service to come and pick it up. OVERALL: Its a good futon if you get lucky with shipping, appropriate sized holes and /or willing to do a little work to make it last. In hindsight would I have paid more somewhere else to get a higher quality couch? Yes...

Lovely couch with only 2 exceptions...

This couch is much prettier than pictured. It's more of a blue grey than the image online, but I prefer the actual color to the pictured color. The fabric is lovely. It looks like it costs 2x what we paid, and I like the firmness (I hope that means it'll retain its shape better). It wasn't any harder to put together than expected (if you're familiar with Ikea furniture assembly, you'll be prepared). I also don't mind the golden legs. I can see how it might look odd with certain flooring, but it complements our darker stained hardwood nicely, and I appreciate the fact that the legs have a built in coaster effect so they slide across our floor without damaging it. All of that being said, I do have two complaints and one warning. 1) Whoever said the middle leg support is too long is 100% correct. It's quite simply too tall, and because it's metal, it's impossible to just cut it down to size. Because of that, the couch kind of slides from side to side in a mini spin if you're not careful how you sit on it. We're looking into adding some type of material to the bottom of the outer legs to balance it out, but it's frustrating that we have to "fix" something that's brand new. Clearly, this isn't a one off issue, as other reviews have mentioned it. It's a problem with the design, and the manufacturer should take heed and actually do something about it. It's such a straightforward solution - make the middle leg slightly shorter. Why not fix that, and be done with it? 2) One of the arms appear to be hanging off slightly. Despite screwing it in completely, it has the appearance that it's dangling a bit (even though it feels totally stable). It's odd. It's not very noticeable, but it still bugs me. Another thing to keep in mind is that despite it's lovely appearance, it's still futon style, and the back of the couch very much looks like a futon. Be prepared for the gap, the funky gathering, etc. I know this sounds like a long list of complaints, but we really do love this couch so far (for the look and the price). We read the reviews and went into this with our eyes open about potential issues, so I just want to make sure I do the same for others. PS: Apologies for the poor photos. They honestly don't do it justice, and our current paint color is pretty drab (making it worse).

    Love it!

I have a mid century modern theme and I was considering this sofa. I had multiple people tell me not to because they said it's a reproduction and it's from wal Mart. But i took a risk and got it and I love it. It's firm in a good way. It works well and it looks great!!

    Such a great sofa

We have gotten so many compliments on the two matching sofas we bought. They are very mid century modern and no one can believe the cost. We're thrilled.

    Love My New Sofa

Love the color. I thought it would be short in height like most futons, but it's not. Easy to put together. My legs were like a brownish color so I spray painted them an antique gold. It's not that comfortable, but it will suffice for now. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Thanks again, Walmart!!

    Very cute, but very firm!

First off, this comes in a REALLY BIG and heavy box that you'll need 2 people to help move. Assembly took about 30-45 minutes with two people. All you have to do is attach the arms and legs. We did use power tools rather than the little hex key they send. It was missing one washer. We are using it as our main sofa. On first sit, it was FIRM. LIKE FLOOR FIRM. And I like firm, but I was going to take it apart and send it back. My husband told me to keep it for a few days, and I'm glad we did. It does break in if you bounce all over it. It's still firm, but you can actually comfortably sit on it now. Throw pillows really add to the comfort level. You'll need them. Verdict: Super cute and stylish mid-century modern piece, but if you're looking for a remotely squishy sofa, this is NOT it. Quality seems good- it's solid and doesn't creak or do anything weird. I will say that it appears more blue than gray to me, just FYI. And the legs are sparkly gold which you may not prefer... I will probably repaint mine.

    Great style! Terrible quality

I love the looks of this new line. I ordered this couch for a space mainly for looks, it won't get a lot of use or wear and tear. The price was fantastic and I thought it would get us through a year or two and then we can replace it with a nicer one. The reviews were all good so I thought it would work. I am very skeptical of the positive reviews. I can't believe we are talking about the same couch. The set up was fairly easy except not all of the screws would align. The material is more of a very thin almost paper feel linen. Very poor quality. It is already starting to tear. The biggest disappointment is the legs are all uneven. The pole in the middle of the couch is too tall so it wobbles back and forth. I have no idea how to fix it. I would definitely not purchase this couch again. Even at this cheap price, it is really not worth it.

    Difficult assembly

I will say, this sofa turned out very cute in my office/den. However, a few things to note, ASSEMBLY IS REQUIRED, and it would be best to have two people. But I got what I paid's not likely this will last. This was delivered in a tattered box and was basically dumped in my front yard. I questioned whether it would be in new condition, but the drivers did not speak English and hustled away as soon as I signed. In unpacking the box there were areas where the fabric was stretched so tight and stressed so that something would soon likely poke through. By the time I got the thing assembled, the fabric was torn on a relatively discreet spot. I've assembled loads of furniture in the past, but this was awkward to put the heavy arms on. There is no easy way to position the sofa and get the screws in from underneath for the second arm. Also, when putting on the legs, there was a lot of strength involved in getting the screws in to the metal frame. I don't believe that the holes were drilled properly. I still have one screw that's not going in. I'd say I did make a mistake purchasing this, but how would I go about returning it in the tattered box now that it's assembled???? Not worth the hassle.

this is not your college futon!

Great color & look, seems very sturdy. Not a very "cushy" couch but the trade off is it appears I won't have to worry about shapeless lumps of cushions with indiscrete coils poking though! Easy mechanism for converting to futon bed. Perfect option for furnishing the "teenager" lair, or "starter furniture" for baby's first apartment, maybe not formal enough for other settings, but obviously dependent on personal preference. Very happy with this purchase. I have several products from this Novogratz line and the quality & aesthetic seem consistent and excellent for the price point.

Looks great, well priced, and delivery was smooth

Caveat: I've only had this futon for one week when writing this review. Nevertheless, my first impressions of this futon are great. The material is nice (similar to those textures at Ikea or West Elm). The color is a light grey. THere is piping along the edges, which make it look nicer than certain Ikea furniture. The futon is very firm, but I'd rather have it firm so that the shape will remain structured; I hate it when couches get saggy and lose their shape. Given how firm it is, I doubt it'll lose shape very quickly. The tufted seating looks great and I love how this futon has armrests and legs! Shipping went smoothly; you just need to schedule it with the delivery service. The downside is that it is CURBSIDE delivery-- they do NOT move it up to your apartment or any specific room in your house. THe package is VERY heavy and big so you will need at least two people to move it around. Lastly, FYI, the backside IS covered with fabric. I never understood why certain futons would not be covered (and instead would just be different material from the rest of the futon). Downsides: 1. The legs are ugly. I love them, but they're gold. And, it's an ugly gold. Two ways to fix it: paint it or cover it up w/ some other material. 2. There's random leg in the middle of the futon (you can see it in the product photo), which is needed to support the futon. Nevertheless, it's kind of ugly. You don't really notice it unless you're looking for it, i suppose. 3. Pillows - this baby needs more pillows. Right now, when you sit back, there's not much support (and remember, it is firm!). Just buy some extra toss pillows and you're good to go! Possible concerns: Sturdiness - it's not wobbly or anything, but I hope it doesn't become so. I've only had it for one week. Fabric - I hope it doesn't pill. It's hard to tell what it'll look like in a month or six down the road. Overall, this futon looks great, modern, and has that structured look that I love. It's also a light color that brightens up the room!
