Not the base, but the other plastic pieces could be, though they're so small, it was just easier to put them in hot soapy water and wash. Had to wipe the base clean with paper towels, to get majority of chocolate off, then wiped with a hot soapy cloth/sponge. Beware, this is very small, looks toy like. Good for a couple or one person to enjoy or for family fun. Would be cute for child's party, would look ridiculous at a wedding reception or nice party though.

No. Instructions say not to put them in a dishwasher. Would potentially melt the pieces to the fountain.

You can get the most sticks for the cheapest price from the dollar store. You'll need to get a bag of chocolate chips and some vegetable oil plus anything you plan on dipping.

Use8oc. Of chocolate and 3 tablespoons of oil then melt it in the microwave and put it in the fountain an it works great

We used it in camping, pluged into a battery pack. We were 4 adults to enjoy 8 oz of chocolat and a couple of fruits. It was just enough to end a good meal. The fun was also to clean the chocolat from all the pieces... just by licking them!!! (easy to assemble and disassemble)
We also used it with our grand-kids(age 4 to 9). They loved it.
Not for more then 4 people... it is a small treat! Use forks instead of picks.

Excellent for a small dessert

I recently used it for my son's Bday party and it was a total hit. Very easy to assemble and operate. the cleaning afterwards was a little messy/tricky because I just unplugged it and forgot to empty it right away, but it won't happen a second time. I wish the bottom part (base) could come apart for convenient cleaning, but other than that, it is a great buy.

this is great for small gatherings or as a sample on a table. It is small and seves about 8-10 people or 2 very hungry chocolate lovers. Great for fun.

tiny little chocolate fountain

This was perfect for my preschool class as well as our children's church dept! Will use it a lot!! This was a lot of fun.
I used four tablespoon of oil and it worked great. I don't believe the little motor pumps fast enough for all the chocolate to form on the last tower(one on bottom) so only half of it would have chocolate flowing. But this did not stop the fun both times we have used it. Worth the buy!

Would be perfect to have at a child's birthday party, as it's very small, it looks toy like. It would look absolutely ridiculous sitting on a table for a reception or nice party, though, it's tiny and would look like a joke! I bought it as a gift for my 8 year old grandaughter since she loves the chocolate fountain at a popular restaurant. It takes 8 oz of chocolate chips (I used milk chocolate), and the directions say to add 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil, but actually it takes 3 tablespoons to make it thin enough to flow in the fountain. You plug fountain in and turn on to warm it up, while you melt the chocolate chips & oil in microwave. You pour the melted chocolate in base of fountain and it flows beautifully. Careful that you only use 8 oz of chips, as it will overflow. Cleaning is easy, just take apart and soak in hot soapy water, fits well back in box to store.

This is very small, and takes awhile to start flowing.. No matter how much oil I added it still didn't flow correctly.. The kids enjoyed it and that's all that matters :0)

great for a small group

The chocolate must be very thin to work in this fountain. Very expensive chocolate (at least 60% cacao) or lots of oil mixed with chocolate chips is required. It is pretty loud for such a small fountain.

Requires lots of oil

This "chocolate fountain" is a piece of plastic junk. Serves me right for buying the cheapest one of these, but the kids wanted a red one. If you don't let this warm up for a long time, and heat the chocolate in the microwave until it's nearly a boiling, liquid mess, the motor will seize and the fun is over. Based on what I see, even with extra care, after about five uses of this thing will cause it to stop working.
