Not cheap but slow among other things

I am a novice write and I wanted something small enough to carry with me but not bulky like a laptop so I could use it anywhere. 1) the system is slow. I have 150/150 internet speeds at home and this laptop is slower than an old gateway I bought back in the 90's. 2) The screen takes too long to load HD and when I enlarge something it sometimes does not focus. 3) The volume is almost non existent. I have to use headphones if I want to listen to anything on this and sometimes that doesn't work. 4) The screen also pixelizes if I hold the screen a certain way and then I have to restart it to get it to come back. 5) the way the screen attaches to the removable keyboard has weakened since I bought this. I have only had this about 6 months and I wish I hadn't bought it. Would love to get a refund but not in the cards. Did bring it back to WM and the manager said that they have had at least 30 percent of the ones that that particular store has sold returned. It deserves a zero star rating but you have to put at least one to post review

    works fine for me

dunno why all the negative reviews, I have only 2 complaints - the backlit keyboard doesn't backlight the keys, but if you are an accomplished typist , you will know what keys you can see; and, I can't find out how to turn off the touchpad on the included keyboard, makes typing a bit difficult unless you concentrate on not brushing the pad with your palms/thumbs. Other thing is that you have to learn to add some utilities which let you shut down programs that Google constantly tries to run in the background. once you get THAT done, the tableti is plenty fast, I watch HDMI on my 60 inch TV on this thing just fine. as for the 'low res' screen complaints, looks just fine to me and drastically lowers the demands on the GPU. One thing, there is a xlnt case for this thing online which is cheap and in my mind, a 'must have' Item. love mine.

    Get something else

The first night I took it out of the box, the charging port wasn't connecting so I can't get it to charge, except to try to find a perfect position to get the light to come on and then be sure not to bump it. it takes so long to charge I don't even know if that's working right now. I also I can't get the Bluetooth to connect. It says it is connected to my speaker but nothing. I was able to transfer my music through Bluetooth, but not this device. I sent it from my other device because this device wouldn't recognize there was any Bluetooth in the area. I was excited to use this and unfortunately I bought it in store, paid cash and lost the receipt. 1 day of use and worthless after downloading my apps, transferring music, etc. I currently have it on its side, on the floor to have the charging port in the perfect position for the light to be on.

    Junk

From day one, I had problems with this tablet. The SD card wouldn't read 90 percent of the time even with high quality cards. Carrying it with me for 2 days started leaving abrasions on the screen where the cheap plastic screen hits the keyboard. After 6 months, it quit charging. Bought a new charger, still no go. Took it back to exchange it, was told sorry, you are out of you're exchange period, you will have to send it to the manufacturer. Threw it in the garbage at the service desk. Froom now on I'll buy my electronics somewhere that will take of me instead.

    bad unit- do not buy

keyboard stopped working after only a month of use. tablet is still working but is marginal at best

    Great Buy

I purchased this tablet for my dad, who's not so into technology. He really likes the wide screen and the detachable keyboard which can also double as a stand if attached backward. I personally wish the picture and video quality were better but my dad is not a photo fanatic so that really doesn't bother him. I think it's a great buy someone who just needs a tool help with studying.

    nextbook Ares 11a

I bought this tablet as replacement on 12/13/16. the tablet was okay up until the end of Jan/2017, when the display started to fail. I was instructed to return it to the manufacturer directly which was done sometime in Feb/2017. received the replacement toward the end o FEB/20174. exactly 12 days after received, the new replacement stated to shut down, after checking with the charger attached, it was determined that the battery was defective and did not how the charge for more that 15 or 20 minutes. Again Nextbook was contacted and the replacement tablet was sent back and next book replaced it with another tablet (#2). this was at the beginning of March/ 2017.(#3). When to replacement came back(#4), about two weeks of use, the tablet started to shut down every time I touched or accessed any icon or link on the screen, this tablet even corrupted 2 new Micro SD cards I added to additional storage ( a 64 gig and 128 gig), my loss. I was so upset, that I wrote to Nextbook indicating that I wanted a refund or a voucher either from them or from Wal-mart so that I can replaced the tablet from another manufacturer because of bad product they put on the market. Netbook stated that they could only replace the tablet which was still under. warranty and I told them that they would have to pay for the return shipping for replacement this time, which they did. I am now on #5 and already the tablet is starting to shut down again after touching the icons on the desktop. and it appears to be going the same way as the other 4 tablets, I'm giving it a few more days and to see what happens. Never had any problems with any product purchased at Wal-Mart before until I got this product. I was not able to return it to Wa-lmart when the 1st one was purchased because of the return policy with electronics at the and had to rely on Nexbook return policy, and now I got stuck with a very bad product, (paid at the time $179.00. (this tablet #5 was received back on 9/28/17 a few days ago). Wal-mart should make sure that what they sell to consumers is a reliable product and not a defective lemon. (5 in my case so far) My advised to you , choose another brand, Your turn Wal-mart, any suggestions. Thanks
Bought this because I liked the detachable keyboard. Had problems from the start. Had to do a factory restart which was hard to do because the time from one direction to another was extremely short. Also, would lose the cursor if there was any pause at all in the typing. The virtual keyboard would not appear half the time. Now the battery won't pull a full charge. Was advised to do another factory restart. Will be easier buying a different tablet.

    Battery Problem

Battery Problem from day one. Would not charge. Battery would only charge to 53% . I would check and always at 53%. I always when I get electronic charge them and not use them until the battery says 100%. This Item continued charging till the next day and was still at 53% .

    Too many issues

How do I hate this tablet? Let me count the ways. #1 -The tablet is supposed to be upgradeable to Android 6.0 but the download file was corrupted. #2 - The tablet started getting very hot when I used it. #3 - It suddenly started shutting itself down due to a "critical heat event". This has happened several times in the past week. The last time was only after 10 minutes of use. #4 - The last straw was the lines flickering on the screen. I would have exchanged it but there are just too many problems with this tablet. I packed it up and got a refund instead. I would give this tablet zero stars but you are required to give at least one star to leave a review.
