DOA

Already boxed it up, but I believe it was a new product, made in 2009. Same age as the laptop it goes into. Takes about 30 minutes to swap one of these into a laptop, reassemble the thing and then test it. Computer reported the battery as "failed, cannot be charged". Tried all the specific procedures to work around this - no luck. The old battery went back in - another half hour work - and it charged and worked. Problem is the old one has about 45 minute run time - needs replaced. But the equipment is capable of knowing a functional battery. Might be a new battery, if you allow for never been used - but the electronics in the battery itself will run them down over time to the point of no output and with LiPo batteries, once they are below minimum, they NOT SUPPOSED to be charged due to fire/explosion hazard. Battery was too old unfortunately. Walmart issued return immediately so other than gambling my time to try this battery, have no complaint. Where to find a good replacement is the next question. Might have to try a non-IBM/Lenovo sourced component that might have a newer mfg.'d date.
