    • A. As with any subnet, you can assign as many as 254 IPs. This means that you can theoretically have 254 devices connected at one time. The real question is on the bandwith consumed by all the devices you would like to connect at one time, not to say anything about the connection speed (to the internet I mean), because you actually split your connection among all devices. Hope this helps.

I had some skepticism purchasing this router. I read reviews religiously before I purchase anything. I have seen a few bad reviews on this router, but all the routers seem to make one person or another unhappy about something. So I took the plunge and purchased the Netgear N750. I have worked in the I.T. field for over 15 years and was not looking for enterprise hardware. This was for my small home network. This router boast 750Mbs, but this is very unlikely in real world conditions. To test for drops in Mbs, signal loss, and all out failure, I downloaded large files off both laptops, streamed Netflix off TV, and scanned a few pics from printer. All running wireless. Laptops had an average down stream of 95Mbs. If you’re looking for better, you’re going to have to spend quite a bit more. Overall I’m very happy with this purchase, and would recommend this to anyone. The only other router out there with these capabilities in the home market is the Linksys E4200. Linksys is fine company, but I also preferred the ascetics of the Netgear better.

    Terrible Customer Service

I bought this router because of the PC Magazine ranking, the warranty AND the special customer service for Walmart customers only. So when I had trouble setting up the device, I called the number special to Walmart customers for assistance. I got disconnected from the first rep and she called me back, but when I got disconnected a second time she never called back. So I called back and got a new rep. She seemed annoyed at the start and it only got worse as the call went on and the problem was not being resolved. She became so frustrated with not solving the probelm, she started yelling at me because I didn't understand her. She thought it would be helpful to say the same thing only louder and THAT would help me understand what she was saying. I ended the call because I would not stand for her unprofessionalism. I will try one more time to set this up and if it dosen't work, I will return it to Walmart... and I will go back to the Cisco product I bought before. Cisco's customer service was great!

Contrary to some reviews, this router does its job flawlessly. It may be confusing in regards to settings for a non-tech person. However, once you get a grip on it, will be solid like a rock. I set it up in both 2.5 and 5 Mghz wireless range (as I have different devices in my network), strongly secured it, test it with all devices in the house (two desktops, two laptops, one VoIP, one streaming video device, and a second router - as a secondary access point with a dedicated IP), in the same time and it would not even blink. Rock solid. I even added two more desktops to the second router on a wired connection and downloaded patches. This little thing would respond to all traffic on secure connection like it was nothing at all. Highly recommend.

    Made cable connection "like new"

I bought this for a client of mine, and he reports his cable connection is "like new". The old access point was slow, and couldn't handle the multiple devices connecting (phones, game systems, laptops, etc). He is attending school online and his connection was always resetting and kicking him out of his class. After the installation of the new equipment he just raved on how fast everything is moving. He had upgraded his cable connection speed hoping for improvement, and now he's rethinking his decision and realizes his problem was with the access point/router and not the connection.

The Netgear N750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router is great. I set it up on Windows 7. It was fast and easy and has great speed. Haven't used it with a TV or game counsel yet. I had the previous model which I replaced because old one was zapped by lightning. The set-up software with this new N750 worked flawlessly. Got it at a great price from Wal-Mart on line and picked up at store. Just can't recommend this enough.

I thought my old router was on it's way out, so I bought this one to replace it. After 1 week of tech support calls, hours of intermittant connection and always slow connection speeds... I gave up and went back to my old router that is not supposed to have the speed of this router, the distance of this router and the "coolness" of this router. In reality, my old router is 3 times faster on speedtest, twice the distance for connections but it doesn't have the cool USB drive ability, that I couldn't get to work properly on the N750. Tech support tried to help me find the promised potential of this router with no results. I had to disable the USB storage ability, turn off the media prioritization, force the wireless to certain channels and it still wasn't half the router it advertised. Don't Waste your money!!

This would work great for DSL, but in my opinion as a cable internet subscriber it does NOT work well at communicating with my Motorola surfboard cable modem whenever power cycling is required by bad weather, or an interruption in power service. It takes about an hour to get back online and this only after fiddling with the settings in the router configuration page. I was told by a charter cable service technician that the modem is too fast for the router, which is why it doesn't communicate well with it. Once connected, however, it does appear able to handle the internet downstream and upstream speeds advertised by the cable company, so no 'minuses' there. I might also add that if you are going to use a USB wireless adapter with this, particularly the netgear N600, be prepared for periodic network 'drop-outs' from the adapter, esp. if your operating system is Windows 7 64-bit. I usually have to fix this by resetting the adapter, or pulling it out of the usb port and plugging it back in. I used an older Netgear Wireless N router when I had DSL, and never had the issues with re-booting and re-connecting that I've had with this router on cable internet, so I cannot recommend this to anyone wanting to use it who is on charter internet. AT&T DSL? It will probably work great with no issues, since the DSL line is always on.

I was thoroughly impressed with how easy this device was to set up! The setup software almost made the getting started process brainless. Also, I am very satisfied with the speed!! Wow! Finally, I live in a 2700 sq ft house, and the range is excellent. I am glad that I didn't spend the extra $50 for the equivalent Cisco model. I hesitated to leave Cisco's name brand, but Netgear is totally legit. Read the PC magazine review on this, because it says the same things I'm saying. It was their top choice, and now I know why. It's exciting to have so much speed at my house, now.

Don't be fooled by similar models in the same look-a-like box but with different model numbers! They ARE NOT the same! The N750 (model # WNDR4000) is the BEST. I did a lot of research before purchacing a router, I wanted the best and thru ratings from CR, and PCMag.com this one is the best. I got tired of buying new routers almost every year and wanted the BEST! This is the LAST one I will buy cause it will last forever with a lifetime warranty. The speed and the range is excellent and thats all I need to know, don't care about the geek terms with 300 Mbps 1 WAN and 4 LAM,,, its the best and I got the best!
