Makes life easier! Does a great job on my hardwood floors, transitions well to area rugs. iPhone app is intuitive. Great video guides online. Replacement parts and filters also abundantly available online! Recommend to all!

I bought the Samsung 7040 and liked the ability to do 2 things at once, after watching the Samsung bounce off walls and miss spots we upgraded to the botvac D5. Amazing! Takes a few times for it to learn the basic layout and times vacuuming get shorter. Leaves lines in the carpets. Its amazing. My wife wanted nothing to do with a robot vacuum, now she loves it.
I recently purchased a second unit for a great price. Now I've got a vacuum for both up & downstairs use! It was easy to set up the app for the two units & schedule them. No-go line feature is awesome and makes the D5 a steal, & after initial mapping plus careful no-go line placement, they run autonomously without getting stuck or requiring “babysitting”. Battery life has stayed over 60% at the end of a full run. I wish (next s'ware update?) they had the zone cleaning that the D7 has, but these guys do work well. I'm surprised just how full the dust bin is after only a couple days between runs!
I love my neato. I use it at least 1-3 times a week. I programed it to not go on my rug that can have no beater bars on it and to stop at the stairs. Love that feature. I have cali bamboo floors through my whole house so I have it go under all the beds also. It gets into corners pretty good to so only need to get the other vacuum out occassionally. I have named him Burt and I call him my maid. It has saved me so much time. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone. I fo not own a pet anymore but have dogs often in my home. Burt has a big enough container that I do not have to empty it until he is done with the whole house. We have approximately 1700.
I like out bot. Things I would change.
1). The drive belt for the edge brush needs to be redesigned so it doesn't break or melt every 5 months. Very difficult to change. Must take bot almost completely apart to fix.
2). Hard to sync wifi and loses connection often. Should be much more user friendly and actively reach for a connection on both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz.
3) Really fills up fast. This could be a factor of how dirty the floors are
4) it would be nice to have a fine mesh screen that can be cleaned underwater. Have two then rotate. The paper filters are not savable and expensive.
Even with all these suggestions, we all still love the bot!
This is my 2nd Neato to own. My first Neato lasted almost 3 years (running at least once a day). The first 10 months with this Neato botvac D5 was great! But after that time, I have had nothing but problems with this botvac. It stops after a few minutes and needs to be rebooted. It disconnects from wifi and won't re-connect. This botvac does not have a window telling you what's wrong, so you have to use the app to know what's going on with it. I was able to send our Neato botvac D5 back to the manufacturer the first 2 times (starting about 10 months in) and since that time, I have been using our extended warranty's repair facility. Thank goodness I bought the extended warranty! It's been in with them at least 6 times this year. It's been away for repair MORE time than I've had it at home. After each repair, it runs one maybe two cycles before something happens to it and it won't run. I called Neato and asked if there was anything they could do. They wanted me to pay to send it to one of their approved repair facilities. Why should I have to pay? I had it serviced by them TWICE before my warranty ran out and I was forced to use the extended warranty repair group. I'm so disappointed and frustrated because I paid $600 for a robot vacuum that didn't last a year. I won't buy another Neato after the snarky response I got calling customer service and this constant frustration of sending it off to be fixed, receiving it back 10-20 days later, running one maybe two cycles before it breaks again and starting this endless cycle all over again. Don't waste your time, find something better!
I bought this BotVac D5 back in December 2018 and since then have had to exchange this D5 model 3 times. I'm done with this Neato brand and I'm returning to IRobot. When the robot is working correctly it does perform well but I'm tired of having to deal with these problem. I don't recommend this product to anyone.
