I had a peroneus brevis tear in the lateral aspect of my ankle. Because of the instability particularly with pivots and rotation I was given one by my orthopedic surgeon. I opted for a non-operative treatment approach. This works very well for lateral, posterior, medial or anterior stability issues.
You slip your foot into the brace, lace it up like you would a shoe, and then secure it with the Velcro straps. It really helped me with my recovery and I was able to rehab properly without surgery.
It does tend to make for a thicker ankle so fitting into a shoe will be a challenge. I sized up some shoes to fit properly in foot wear.
Luckily it is machine washable. It's a great product.
