This dehydrator is amazing, SO easy to use and works like a charm. SO much faster than oven drying and the herbs I've dried have been so much more flavorful then the ones you buy at the store! Easy cleanup and simple design is great. My only issues are that it is a little loud and it needs a power but these minor issues are well worth it because it works very well!

Powerful little dehydrating machine!
So far so good
I have an older model by American Harvest/Nesso and have enjoyed using it. My grandchildren love dried apples and one dehydrator is not enough to keep up. I bought this one so I can make more apples at one time. It worked fine and now I can make more for the grandchildren to enjoy. Plus it is made in USA.
So far I have done Jerky, Apples, Tomatoes and jalipanos and all came out EXCELENT! The tomatoes and peppers look way better than I have ever seen- beautiful
Met Every Expectation
You will have perfect results every time. I "put foods by" utilizing different procedures. This is by far the easiest and more creative of all the methods of food preservation.
Nice little home machine
Temperature settings written on the top so no guess work. I liked the recipes for fruits and veggies. And you get seasonings for jerky and hamburger jerky. And its easy to clean.
I bought this dehydrator a couple of weeks ago. Wal-Mart was definitely best in price. I was an "oven drying"man for more than 30 years...I can't believe I wasted all that time in the oven. This machine was perfect for my jerky. Extremely even drying over all the racks without rotating, and dried my jerky in just 4 hours...very quietly, I might add. I dried every fruit from bananas to peaches, pears, apples, mango, pineapple, strawberries - that takes about 12 hours, which, if you are a dehydrator junkie is very quick. The most useful feature of this product is the temperature control, eliminating harmful bacteria in your meats, yet drying fruits without "cooking" them. An additional plus, is that the (quiet) motor is top-mounted, so any drippings go on a simple plastic easy-to-clean tray at the bottom instead of in your fan unit. I just bought 8 additional racks to increase my capacity because friends and family are inundating me with orders. That's over 20 square feet of drying surface. Everyone will be getting jerky for Christmas! I only wish Wal Mart sold the LT-2W drying racks as well. Additional racks can be purchased for $9.99 per pair if you Google it right.
Quality machine but a bit noisy.
Very easy to use and clean, but a bit noisy. Seems well-built. Also, my first attempt was with halved Italian plums. Took 24 hours -- not the 8 - 16 hrs suggested in the instruction book. Next time I will cut the plums smaller. Look forward to drying tomatoes and herbs.
Works well with herbs.
Nice beginner's dehydrator. Works well, albeit slowly. I'm used to drying in the oven and with the sun, so I'm still getting used to this. It is a tad loud, so I put it on our enclosed screened porch which didn't work well. It seemed to take a long, long time...longer than 24 hours to dry 4 layers of mint. Then it dawned on me that the outside humidity probably didn't help! So I moved it into my garage. It still took a while to complete the drying. As for design - I found it difficult to stack the trays - they do not stack tightly or easily and you have to more or less balance them. Other than that, the top motor is awesome as it leaves the bottom tray for drips and dropping leaves. It dried my mint, sage, chives, parsley, cilantro all very well leaving all a lovely shade of green and the fragrance pleasing. I used some of the mint in iced tea today and the oils remained and was quite tasty! As a note, I played with the temperature, as I found that the lowest setting recommended for herbs is really too low. It's nice to be able to adjust the temp. I'm trying produce next - jalapenos on the drying schedule for today!
Pleased with purchase
The biggest draw for me was the ability to expand. To pay this price and be able to add on later was what got me to think about this purchase, reading the great reviews is what got me to make the purchase. It's quiet and since we took it out of the box a few days ago, it's been running non stop and we haven't even tried to make jerky yet. My biggest reason for even searching dehydrators was because of our dog. She has food allergies that didn't develop until she was about 8 months old. Prior to the discovery, she loved rawhide chews. That had to stop and she was limited of what kind of treats she could have. The pup that was used to a variety of treats was now down to only hypo-allergenic treats from the vet until we discovered sweet potato chews at PetSmart, which she loved and didn't have a reaction to - the only ingredient listed on the package was "sweet potatoes". Paying $8.50 per lb just wasn't a smart option for me...I looked into doing it myself at home so thankfully, we only paid that retail price once! I ordered this machine on a Saturday and was making my own batches of sweet potato chews 4 days later. For what I paid for the machine, I could have purchased less than 6 lbs at retail price. Instead, I've spent less than $10 on sweet potatoes and ended up with 10 lbs of chews. I think we made a smart investment...and so does our dog. :-) IF I had to say anything remotely negative about this machine is that it puts off a good bit of heat so I make sure to have nothing else around it while in use to avoid possible melting. Otherwise...awesome!!!
Base and manual is what I need
