Purchased this to eliminate the cumbersome garage door openers in all of our cars. Now, with a simple app on our phone,we can each open the door with a simple push if a button!
We can open the door from anywhere for deliveries or for others as needed.
Awesome upgrade to our home!
I used this kit to convert my "Genie" garage door opener to a smart door. My other garage door is powered by a Chamberlain MyQ Garage Door opener. I thought I would have to wait for my least favorite opener to stop working in order to have two MyQ doors. Well this kit helps bridge the gap. The door sensor is powered by a lithium battery and even when the temperature dipped to -30 degrees, the sensor kept working. With this kit the two doors can both be controlled by the MyQ app that I have on my phone. Installation was about as easy as it can get.
Installation in freezing cold garage took less than 15 minutes. Simply follow the instructions that come with the unit and then those in the app to complete the setup. I had one problem when connecting to the network but was easily remedied by resetting the MyQ hub to factory settings and then reconfiguring via the App.
This is a great product if you don't need to replace your garage door opener. I still look forward to replacing the Genie down the road with another Chamberlain Garage Door opener withbattery backup. The Chamberlain garage door openers are simply much better in every way. Untill then, this MyQ hub bridges the gap between "dumb" and "smart"
My phone alerts me to when the door is opened or closed. Remote starting the car in the garage in the winter? No problem, open the garage door while sipping your coffee inside your warm house. Need to check if you forgot the door open? No problem again. Check the app and if it was left open close it. Expect a delivery, you can open the garage door, have the item delivered inside and then close the door (wi-fi camera helpful here). In any case I am very much into having a "smart home" and this fits the bill in my setup.
SmartThings integration would be great to see in the same way as other product line manufacturers have done (E.g. Lutron light switches are proprietary but work with SmartThings). [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
First of all I want to lay the disclaimer that I had a MyQ-G0201 Universal opener before I had the true blessing of Chamberlain to try out their latest version, the MyQ-0301. I honestly think that it's the best garage door opener out there because you always have your mobile phone with you and it allows you to open the door when you're away from home for someone that either forgets their keys or garage door opener and whenever you need to let someone in your house.
The two main functions that I use it for are to monitor when the garage door is open or closed either via push notifications or opening up the app to check the status of the garage door, and to open the garage door if I forget my clicker or need to let someone in. Not only that but Chamberlain has integrated in 3rd party IoT devices such as the Nest cameras and thermostats so you can even subscribe to their service to have your air or heat turn on when you arrive home. I don't see a major difference in the MyQ-0201 and the MyQ0301 except that the WiFi connection seems to be better and everything seems stable. I haven't had a problem with the unit since day one when I connected it. Forget about other openers, this is the one you need and you'll be happy with it! You can have the app installed on any iOS or Android device, login, and open the garage door. The battery on the sensor that's on the door rarely needs to be changed (I did change it after 2 years for the MyQ0201 but the cost was relatively inexpensive). Login on the app has Touch and Face ID on iOS so that's a great plus as well as a "Remember Me" feature so that you don't have to re-login if you don't want to use biometrics.
As far as 3rd party IoT devices, you can integrate with Nest, Wink, XFinity Home, Google Assistant, IFTTT (with subscription), Alpine, and Clare Controls. It's great even with the free options but I somewhat see that Chamberlain would like for you to subscribe to use IFTTT and your voice with Google Assistant.
Overall, I love this opener and I'll continue to use it into the future if we move (meaning that it will stay with me going to the next house)! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Purchased knowing that the door opener would work with my smartphone and the unit was compliant with the garage door opener I had bought in early 2000;s.
Very easy installation. Wifi works great but for me having the router in very close proximity to the door opener. Followed the directions exactly and was up an running in less than half hour, including reading the instructions.
App is basic but provides what I needed. The rules are a nice plus. I like being notified when the door is opened or closed, and obviously having the ability to open or close remotely from the app was the reason I got this in the first place.
My only complaint which kept me from giving this a "4" was the fact that it does not work with the Amazon Echo or its miniions. I've read, can't say I know for fact, that it never will. Big downer.
Fix that and you got a 5 star product.
My experience with MyQ garage door opener the initial setup was a little difficult but with the help of YouTube videos I was able to figure it out. And then my second problem was the Wi-Fi connection seeing is I have a detached garage I had to make sure that my Wi-Fi would reach. Once I found the right spot for the Hub and my Wi-Fi was connected everything work beautiful. Make sure that you have a good Wi-Fi signal and that the Hub is connected to your Wi-Fi otherwise you will get a reading of offline in the MyQ app. I've had it now for a couple of weeks and have had no issues everything works great and I love being able to check to see if I forgot to shut my garage door along with the times it tells you when your door was opened and closed that's a nice feature
My order came in about 1 week. I got the Hub and an extra sensor as we have two garage doors and I wanted the Hub to control them both. I had read through installation instructions prior to receiving and had also pre-installed the app on my phone. As a result, installation went very smoothly. No problem connecting to my wi-fi network. Learning my garage door opener code took longer than I expected (maybe 30 seconds to 1 minute), but again, no issues other than having to wait. Even pairing with the second door sensor and learning the code to that opener was smooth and quick. I think I had everything set up and both doors opening via the app in 15-20 minutes. Probably took another 15 minutes to screw the Hub bracket into my garage ceiling and get it permanently fixed.
I was able to set up a couple of alarms via the app (to notify me if either door had been left open longer than 30 minutes) and also set up a schedule to automatically close the doors at 9am and11pm each day if they had been left open. My wife works night shift and my teenage son has a tendency to leave the house and not close the garage doors behind him (this was the impetus for buying this product).
I was also able to invite my wife into my family group (after installing the app on her phone and creating an account for her). Her app showed she had an invite which she accepted and then was also able to open and close the doors from her phone.
The only thing I was surprised about is that she does not get the alerts on her phone when the doors have been left open more than 30 minutes. I would have thought that being in the family group, any one in the group would get the alerts that I had set up on the account. If this can be a future update to the app, I think it would be a very helpful feature.
All in all, the Hub works as I thought it would. It is nice for me at least to get an alert if the garage door(s) have been left open so I can close them remotely via my phone from wherever I am. It just provides that extra little piece of mind since we have three kids coming and going and you never know when one might forget to close a door and leave the house vulnerable.
