Such a lovely read. This story has nice illustrations peppered with real photos old and new of Scoot Kelly and his twin brother. Since this was meant for kids, it did not get very in depth, but just enough to keep their interest and grow their ideas of exploring. Overall, very well done.

About This Item
Scott Kelly wasn’t sure what he wanted to be when he grew up. He struggled in school and often got in trouble with his twin brother, Mark.
Then one day Scott discovered a book about test pilots and astronauts that set him on a new path.
His new focus led him to fly higher and higher, becoming first a pilot and then an astronaut, along with his brother—the first twin astronauts in history. But his greatest accomplishment of all was commanding the International Space Station and spending nearly a year in space, which set the record for the longest spaceflight by an American.
This story of an ordinary boy who grew up to do extraordinary things is perfect for children, fans of Scott's adult book Endurance: A Year in Space, A Lifetime of Discovery, aspiring astronauts, and anyone who has ever tried to defy the odds. It will amaze and inspire you.

I received this book as part of the Early Reviewers program in exchange for a review. I asked for this book in part because my kids are crazy about space, and I knew they'd be interested in it (especially my son, the older of the two, who's starting to read on his own). One of the things I enjoyed most about Kelly's account is that he starts from the very beginning, telling about growing up in a home where circumstances weren't always easy. It's a great way to point out that, although our environment shapes us to a degree, we cal ultimately choose our own path in life. The space parts of the book were also wonderful, and my kids were very intrigued by all the physical and mental challenges of spending an extended amount of time in space.

I received a free copy of From the My Journey to the Stars in exchange for an honest review. This is an inspiring story of a boy who got into lots of shenanigans with his twin brother. Luckily, Scott Kelly had a principal reminding him that he saw more in him and believed in him. Once he figured out what really interested him - flying fast and flying way up high - things began to fall into place. The book is an easy read about his growing up and his time in space as an astronaut. The illustrations are attractive, and the snap shots remind us this is about an actual person and his experiences. This book is geared for in primary grades.
My Journey to the Star...
My Journey to the Stars is about how Scott Kelly became an astronaut, along with his twin brother. It starts with their childhood, and goes through how Scott became interested in being an astronaut, his career, and his eventual mission on the International Space Station, including the experiments carried out on him and his brother to study the effect of living in space. The book includes both illustrations, which are lovely, and photographs. Kids who are interested in space or in science will like it, and there are positive messages about learning from tough experiences and working hard to achieve goals.

I received a free copy of My Journey to the Stars from the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program in exchange for a free review - thank you! This is a delightful, educational book that I'd recommend for anyone interested in adventure, flight, and space. The book follows an astronaut (whose twin is also an astronaut) through his early days being uninterested in school, his time as a pilot, and a study he and his twin were involved with examining the impact of spending extended periods of time in space. With plenty of engaging illustrations and actual photographs, this is a compelling look at what it means to be an astronaut and spend time on the Space Station. And it's an awesome, inspiring book about finding your passion!
