Good GPS running watch

This is my first GPS running watch and I am very pleased with it. It could be smaller of course, but it is not bulky, and the large screen is nice for displaying all kinds of information that can be easily seen at a glance. This watch is no longer being made so stores are getting rid of their inventory at a discount, which makes it an even better deal. The newer Garmin GPS watches are smaller and probably have more features, but for the price/value this is a great watch.

Owned previous 305 version

Since my 305 broke recently, i thought i'd buy the 310XT. It's waterproof and has some additional features. So i thought it would be an ideal replacement. The first problem i had was that it would give inaccurate speed readings. Like 38MPG when the fastest i can pedal is about 15MPH. Also when driving out and back on the same route, i'd get readings of ascent, much different from the decent, when it should have been identical. The final problem i had, was that it was impossible for me to get it to communicate with the computer. I attempted it many times without success. When i checked on the net with other users, this was a common complaint. I was within the 15 day return period, and I returned it. I'll have to do some more research before buying the next GPS watch.

Strap broke

After using this for two years, the pin holding the wrist strap broke rendering the watch useless. I am going to contact Garmin to see if this can be repaired without paying for a new watch. Something that is used for exercise should be better constructed. I did not use any force in attaching the watch to my wrist. Poor construction. I would not recommend this watch at all.
