I have been looking for a product to whiten some T-shirts and I recalled that years ago people would use bluing for that purpose. I added a quarter teaspoon to my whites and the results are amazing. My whites are brilliant like I never was able to achieve with bleach. At a quarter teaspoon per load the bottle will last forever, and at $8.25 per bottle it is a true bargain. As it turns out, bluing is almost impossible to find and completely unavailable in local stores. Very grateful to have found it here.
I was really happy to find Mrs. Stewarts Liquid Bluing. My white clothes start to look dingy and old in the hard water we have where I live. I remembered that my momma used to put bluing in the water to keep the white clothes white.
The Bluing is unable to bring the washcloths and towels back to their original white as they were too far gone before I started using the bluing.
Be careful when you use this bottle as it only takes a few drops and this bottle starts to leak the bluing out when you turn it upside down.
I am now using a half cup of water to put a few drops of bluing it and diluting it before pouring it into the washing machine.
This has worked out much better.
I only gave it a 4 because of the lack of control with dispensing a few drops and the leaking of the bluing when you turn the bottle over.
