    I bought this right before Christmas 2012. It has already stopped working. I am one who don't like to review a product until I have had it a while, at least 6 months. Everyone can usually say they like a product the first week or month. This is just around the third month of owning this, and it wont brew any coffee now. When I turn it on to start, it just starts beeping, like it does when your coffee is done, and then don't start brewing. I assume the beeping function is stuck to think it is done when its not. Before this one, I had a basic $19 coffee maker that did not have any extras, it worked for over 2 years. This time I thought it would be nice to have a clock and a self cleaning feature, so I got this one. I am on a tight budget, and this one was affordable. I suggest to either get a more expensive one, or get a basic one that just brews coffee and don't have "beeps and whistles." I think it is made to cheap to have extra features and this makes it mess up electronically.

    I had previously had this exact same model ( except it had two trim pieces that this one doesn't have ) for 7 years and the heating elements finally gave out. I replaced it with this one and had to take the first one back because nothing happened when I plugged it in(no lights or clock.) Because of the luck I had with my first unit, I went ahead and exchanged it for this same model. I followed the cleaning instructions even doing the procedure twice to be on the safe side. The first two days the coffee was great BUT THEN this morning the coffee seemed off and I noticed an odd smell in the kitchen and thought the drain in the sink needed cleaning. Later, I went to clean the pot and dump the filter and when I lifted the top of the unit the smell was horrible. I checked the tap water and coffee, both smelled fine so I made another pot to see what would happen. YUK! It's horrible. This machine is getting returned right after I finish this review. So glad I still have the receipt!

    Don't buy it...you'll be returning it. My other coffee maker I had for years and never a problem. This one I've had for maybe two months. This morning it just keeps beeping and won't brew. I've tried the cleaning button and put some vinegar in it also. Still nothing...:( Also the beeping when it's done in the morning is annoying and wakes up others in the house. You should be able to turn that feature off. What a dissapointment! I will be returning it today as thankfully I still have the box and receipt!

    Just purchased a few days ago, but today taking it back. this my second Mr. coffee maker in 10 years. The first one was terrible always leaking everywhere, and I was about write to Mr. Coffee's R&D / engineering and Q.C. department, that who in the world would let these substandard makers to be released to the public. did anyone tried this out before?? This newest one is a nice looking, extra functions like timer, regular/strong brewing. This model has major problem. When placing the basket in the machine it only goes in one way so can't make mistake that swing out arm can only go one way too, but when placing the pot underneath the coffee maker the pot's lid pushes the basket up a 1/8 inch and this way when brewing the coffee comes out slow, it backs up into the filter /basket and and the coffee grinding ends up in the pot. It doesn't matter how you position the pot the grinding ends up in the brew?? there is no lock in the basket so it moves up and down by the pause brewing spring in the bottom of basket, coffee backs up grinding overflows the filter into the pot. there is no fix, adjustment or excuse for this design. my other brand lasted 9 years.

The decanter is designed to meet with the pause and serve mechanism on the filter basket, but it certainly should not overflow. Please call us at 1-800-672-6333 so we can get to the bottom of this.     Been using this for a couple of weeks now. I really like the fact you can either brew normal or strong coffee with a click of a button. Using this feature I brew a pot that taste normal but use less coffee, that means the coffee maker will pay for itself. Another feature is the delay brew, my previous Mr. Coffee's had this feature too. There is nothing like waking up to a cup of hot coffee every morning. There is a clean setting, but have not tried it as the maker is still new and will find out in a couple of weeks how that works.

    This was a gift from my children for mothers day and it saddened them that it has already stopped working 4 months later.... Won't brew just beeps like it's starting but it never begins brewing! !!! Do not purchase this product!!! Broke my little kiddos hearts..

    This coffee maker was excellent and did everything it promised. The operation was extremely simple until this morning when it just stopped working. My wife and I checked all the troubleshooting tips both on the Mr. Coffee web site and on other sites where the same problem is reported. You turn the coffee maker on. It beeps five times (actually the "finished brewing" alarm). Nothing happens. No clicks, no whirs. Nothing. What a shame. Our $8.00 no name coffee maker lasted a lot longer. Hahaha It's a great machine as long as it work, but as I read in other reviews online, this maker just has a tendency to break down.

    don't buy this one I bought one of these a month ago and it went dead !! cant even get the warming plate to heat up . better off getting ba different type . this is the second one i have gotten from walmart in the lasthree months that was bad !! I had a hamilton beach that leaked all over the counter , so I replaced it with this one 1 big mistake !! now I have to make another trip for another one !!!

    • A. Basket is accessed from the top. Pretty nice, the water dispenser has a spout that you slide to the side so you can remove the basket (you will need filter or a permenant basket filter). When you shut the lid, that spout will automatically move over to the area over the basket. Hope this helps and sorry it took a couple of months to answer.
