This item is advertised as a mini compost bin w/tumbler and nothing could be further from the truth. This is just an over-glorified garbage bin. How it works is that you place the garbage in the tumbler and give it a turn (turns roughly) until the garbage drops into the bin. There is no composting involved unless you want to leave your garbage in the bin while it rots. I have a real compost bin outside and plan to be dumping the garbage I've collected in this bin into my real one. I had originally hoped to at least partially compost some of my garbage in this bin before transferring it into my larger composter but had to scrap tat plan. One positive note is that it is good in controlling odor. Negative note: NOT WORTH THE MONEY!

Impressive. Locks in odor just like advertised. it takes me about a week to fill the bin give or take, and then I take out and dump it in my big 75 gallon composter - extremely convenient. To give an idea of how much i cut up and compost im vagen. My roommates were very skeptical at first but now they are even composting. I would recommend it (for sure). Honestly, I didn't want to buy anything but my big outdoor composter, but this was a great idea and it has proven itself so far.
