This, like most lumbar support pillows, can be used almost anywhere. In a typical (kitchen) chair, on a couch, in a car, or in an office chair. The elastic straps will keep it in place - primarily on a chair or car seat (no place to wrap the straps on a couch).
It's lightweight, yet sturdy and provides very nice support - especially when the seat style tends to promote slouching down. Oddly enough, it also nudges your body closer to the seat front - taking pressure off the back of your knees. Conversely, it's not bulky and doesn't take up much room in the chair.
The other feature that's quite nice is the breathable liner on the exterior - it really does work. It's especially useful in warm/hot months when those vinyl or leather seats tend to make your back feel like you're in a sauna rather than a car.
Would I recommend it - yes, I would. Will I use it - yes - assuming my wife will share... :o)
