This is actually perfect for downloading both free and paid for games and streaming shows and movies through Netflix and Hulu with Xbox live gold membership. Which is $60 a year. Plus game pass which is additional $12 a month if you want to play games for "free?", whenever. I have the original 1tb Xbox One with the Blu-ray, but after having it since 2014, I only have one physical disc game. The rest of my 200+ game collection is entirely digital. I wish this version was available back then so I didn't have to fork over $400. But, it is what it is.
I purchased one of these all digital xbox oneâs. I purchased it for two reasons. First of all I hate disc boxes cluttering up the place. Iâm a child of the 80âs and iâve done the disc collection thing and I hate the clutter. Iâd much rather have a neat user interface and comfortably and easily scroll through my games Netflix style. I also purchased this because of the three months free game pass. Incidently game pass is awesome and new games are added to it every week. On a side note make sure the Walmart customer rep scans the game pass code on the box when you purchase the machine or you will end up spending an hour on the phone with Microsoft sorting out your Game Pass subscription. I understand some people donât see why you would not want the disc drive version, but honestly I dont use blue rays, dvdâs etc and have no need for the disc drive. So if like me and you dont need the disc drive, then this digital machine is for you!
Perfect for all digital users I have a digital library of over 400 games and honestly never have used a disk since Microsoft started selling digital. Even my movie library is all digital. This is not intended for gamers as a cheaper option its only cheaper cause the disk drive is gone. I been hoping they did this years ago. Do not buy if you are not a digital player the console even says digital edition. Microsoft you have done it again And these two next years are going to be amazing with the introduction of the faster console's with compatibility for 8k plus VR thank God you didn't get in the VR world early like playstation did. funny thing about playstation there flops never get pointed out Microsoft is always under the scope but Phil Spencer you got this my dude. I like playstation but only for a couple games stinks they can't allow everyone to play together like Microsoft wants. sorry this went way out the way. Dont buy if you don't use digital only. good luck
I finally decided to replace my kids old Xbox 360 with the Xbox one. They love it! I wish it was priced a little better seeing as there is no games with it and there are bundles I see with added accessories for a little more, but all in all I am very happy with this console. The 1 TB is great compared to what they were using but I can tell that even 1 TB for them will eventually be an issue with today's gaming. They like the controllers even though I went ahead and purchased a new one to make it two player play. I do wish however, that they were able to use a lot of their old games that they have from their xbox 360. I'd say that is one of the things I hate when updating some of these computers and games now a days. It would be great if that was allowed, due to the fact that I know there will be a new one after this Xbox One purchase. Makes grabbing the games harder unless they buy online and even then, some probably won't be compatible with newer systems going forward is my guess. Headset of course was a must and easy enough to add. All in all I'm happy with this purchase.
I knew this was going to happen, so I just went out and bought another, but with a disc. Everything in this day and age of electronics keeps up dating to something new, making old out of date. Had to by a TV stick to be able to get up to date APPS because theses companies will not up date their APPS.. Now you have to buy a disc player to replace the one that's not there, like in computers and game counsels. I agree with others, if anything they should have drop to a lower price at least the cost of a portable disc player like the ones to add on to computers that do not have one. It's life, it's not fair, welcome to our world.
If you want something you can do more than play games on, this is not it, and this is not the future. What a waste of hardware. Wanna play a movie, nope. Wanna play a cd, nope. Wanna throw away your money straight at Bill Gates, yep. That's all this is good for.
