To Bad This Could Have Been A Good Sweat Shirt.

I read most of the reviews before I bought this sweat shirt. Most said it ran small or shrunk a lot so I bought an extra large. Unfortunately as with many brands the shoulder stitching is 4 inch's lower than my shoulder. I'm 6 feet, 48-50 chest, gym daily so I'm not small. I don't understand why XL means a bigger body but doesn't mean longer arms and shoulders tapered normally. I hate that look and wanted to return the shirt until I realized shipping it back costs $2.00 less than the purchase price. Gave it to a friend. So I bought 2 large and guess what? The only difference is the body is much smaller. The shoulders still roll over and down a couple of inch's lower than my actual shoulder. Worse because the body size is all that changes the sleeves are barely long enough. The cuff is right at my wrist. If this thing shrinks at all I'll be tugging on the sleeves to stretch them. It's to bad because the weight is medium and the neck is tight unlike many shirts that are very loose. So as many reviewers said they run small and if you don't like that shoulder seam half way down your arm look forget these.

Didn't hold color

I bought 3 of these about a year ago and ended up giving them to the Day center for the homeless. They were still in good condition but they didn't hold the color and had spots where there was no color at all. After a few washings they were totally faded.

good weight, fits great !

bought many of these sweatshirts, I did my homework, bought one size larger. I have washed and dried many times and still fits great !

I've bought several of these, some zip-front, too. I LOVE the high cotton fiber content - something hard to find nowadays and, if you can find it, the sweatshirt is so unaffordable. They are, in my opinion, not the heaviest weight I've had, but they are certainly are NOT flimsy, thin things... they have a certain amount of bulk or beefiness. I think they run a bit large, but not too much - I don't think enough to order a size down. Besides, we don't like snug sweatshirts. I didn't notice any shrinkage after washing+drying (cold wash+rinse, medium/perma-press heat dry) Perfect for what we wanted, and reasonably priced! Very happy with these ultimate cotton sweatshirts.

Don't wash it

I purchased an XL it fit great until I washed it now it's a small to medium. I definitely would not purchase these sweatshirts again waste of money

Don't wash it

It was a nice sweatshirt until it was washed now it's a medium not an extra large. I was very dissapointed that it shrunk so bad.I deffinitely will not purchased this style again.

Oh, the humanity! I purchase a bunch of these sweatshirts every 2-3 years, so it was with gleeful anticipation that I completed my traditional Hanes Ultimate Cotton sweatshirt purchasing rite this year. I couldn't wait to snuggle into the warm, fleecy goodness I've become accustomed to. I looked forward to once again slobbing around the house on chilly days in the tunic-length (on my average-height female frame) sweatshirt that has become a staple in my super-casual winter wardrobe. So it was with shock and dismay that I tried on this year's batch of Ultimate Cotton sweatshirts and discovered...they're so much THINNER than usual! Not nearly as fleecy! They're SHORTER!! My head is still reeling from the emotional trauma wrought by the deliberate desecration of my favorite sweatshirt. Hanes should pay for my therapy bills; it's going to take years to recover. What it boils down to is this: The Ultimate Cotton sweatshirt is now on par quality-wise with the eight dollar sweatshirts you can buy at that very popular big box store notorious for exploitative labor practices. I don't normally advocate shopping there, but if you've barely got two cents to rub together, don't waste your money on the Hanes sweatshirt. P.S. The royal blue and deep forest ones aren't even soft! And they're 2" shorter than the deep red and maroon ones.

OMG, I purchased the exact same size online that I did in store. A men's medium. The in store (more cheaply made) version shrunk. I expected it to. It shrunk quite a bit but stayed a decent size. Then I purchased this version online (nicer thicker material) and it shrunk almost 2 sizes!!!! I say almost because I can still technically fit into it but it is extremely uncomfortable (in the smaller shrunken size). While I will continue to purchase hanes because of the price I can honestly say that their quality has gone down over the years. (I've experienced other degradations in quality for the same item over years).

2XLT for XL wearer

I placed my order for Hanes Beefy-T's because I like a heavy-weight T. Since I was going to buy these, I started looking around the site. I needed some sweat shirts and, honesty, I couldn't find any decent ones locally in black. I was glad to see that not only does Hanes offer a selection of colors, but also tall versions. I must have really long arms. I can wear an XL fine. I ordered at 2XLT just to make sure I have long enough sleeves, and they fall just about right. I have only washed them once. They seem to have the same Hanes quality as I remember in the past. It's warm and feels fine against my skin.

Not heavyweight, poor quality

They are rather thin for being described as "heavyweight." The stitching is ok, but out of 4 sweatshirts all of the stitching doesn't line up. The armpit area is way too big. You can get much better quality from other brands/stores. Previous years had much better sweatshirts.... guess it's time to switch brands.
