I am so glad I bought this shoe! I was looking for something I could wear everyday, and comfortable, and I got exactly that! I read other reviews stating to order a full size smaller than your normal size, which I was skeptical at first, but agreed on. They were right...I am a 14, but I ordered the 13 and it fits like a glove! The width is perfect too! Leather is of high quality, stitching is of high quality, and the design is perfect. Overall, great shoe!
About This Item
Great comfy shoe
I have large feet, size 16m in most brands. When I tried the 16m in the Neil M they were a full size to big. I ordered a full size smaller, size 15m, removed the insole and they fit like a glove, a perfect fit. I ordered three colors, because I love the look and fit so muuch. They also look good at work or at play. The rumber soles make wearing the shoes like wearing a pair of athletic shoes. You can't go wrong with the Neil M Rome shoe.
I was looking for a shoe like the Allen Edmunds Weekender; the most comfortable shoe I've had but is no longer made. This Neil M is the closest I've found. It's not quite as comfortable (less padding in sole, I think) but still quite good. It's hard to tell from the photo but the black shoe is pebbled leather (I thought it was smooth). It was worth the price when it was on sale.
I've been wearing Neil m rome for many years I live the comfort and style. Unfortunately for more than a year this shoe hasn't been available in my size black 9 3e I wonder why they have discontinued it. I called the company a number of times and am told "soon" I'm very disappointed "soon" hasn't come yet.
I did not like the semi squared off style of the toe. The shoe also slips just a little. I had to make several adjustments with a combination of inserts and heavier socks to make it work. I bought the shoes because of the appearance presented in the picture, but it is definitely square toe and didn't look as much in the picture.
Shoes made for wide feet
These shoes are not narrow. The front of the shoe is okay, but the heel is way too wide. I bought a pair and found that my heel slips significantly. I even tried a pair of thick sport socks and found the heel still too wide. I tried gluing some pads in to stop the heel from slipping, but still too wide. There was a response card in the box, but they did not really want customers to write a response because they did not even pay for the postage. If you have a narrow foot try another brand, not this one.
Poor quality material heel & sole combo
I have purchased Neil M shoes several times over the years and they are usually comfortable and long lasting. Not so with this pair. I bought these loafers two years ago and have worn them only occasionally - weekend, social, church etc. The heels wore down enough to pronate my feet to the outside. I brought them to the shoemaker to get new heels & soles. Apparently, the plastic compound heel/sole cannot be repaired or replaced. The heels should not have worn down as quickly as they did and for the price of these shoes, they should be repairable. Buyer beware!
