About This Item
Great boots, but take some care
I'd been looking for a nice pair of casual summer boots for a while when I stumbled upon the Clark's Desert Boot. They're amazingly comfortable, look great and are built to last. In terms of care, I'd be very cautious with using a spray-on protector or suede brush. I bought a generic suede spray-on and suede brush and the spray seemed to fade the shoe, and the suede brush almost seemed to scratch the suede. I'd say you're better off with some form of rub-on protector and a soft bristled brush (or even a tooth brush). I tend to just rub them down with a towel to restore the suede and make them look nice again.Tip: Tie the laces around the back of your ankle to get the lace-free look you see in all of the ads. It's just as comfortable.
Just as I remember them
I used to wear these exact boots in my teenage years, but no longer available here in Australia. Absolutely comfortable, secret is in the crepe sole. Imitations with hard sole are nowhere near as good. I like the 'silent' walk these soles give. Also great for driving....flexible sole with no 'tread'. I also like the'retro' look they now have!
Clark's Desert Boots Still High Quailty
I wore these shoes all the time back in the 60s& 70s.I was really glad to finally find them at shoebuy.com . They're still as comfordable as I had hoped for, plus brought back some good memories of "the good old days".I'll be getting another pair as soon as these wear out, which will be in a while, I'm sure. All in all they're still great shoes,so get yours today !
I finally found them!
Back in the 1960s these were the coolest shoes in world. All the 'elite' kids were wearing them and I finally got a pair as well. There were the greatest shoes ever. When I came back from the Service in 1969 I looked and looked but couldn't find any and eventually gave up. Over the years I have searched and just last month (April) I found them online, ordered a pair, and they are as great as I remember. I love the boots, they are still as comfortable and as stylish as I remember and will probably order another pair. I love them.
Great looking, not super comfortable
I really love this boot. It looks stylish! It's not the most comfortable shoe, so you might want an insole or some thick socks. I spent a day in NYC wearing them and almost had blisters by the end of the day, though I was doing a lot of walking, and they weren't totally broken in yet. I'd still recommend them highly, just don't go on any long distance walks wearing them.
Classically stylish boot
Comfortable, but not intended for lots of walking. Lightweight, not too restrictive like some boots. Invented by Brits, made famous by Steve McQueen, among others. Looks great with jeans or cords. Sizing runs a half size to a full size larger. I measure to a size 10, but the 9.5 feel just right with a little extra toe room. Quality crepe soles and suede uppers.
Hooked on Desert Boots
Actually this was my second pair of desert boots in recent times. Earlier on in the year I'd bought a black pair from the Bostonian shoe shop in my locale. Aside the aesthetics of the elegant suede and general design of the boots which caught my fancy, the pair turned out the most comfortable footwear I've worn in a long time(and I have bought quite a few shoes over the years). The comfort was such that once I started wearing the first pair, I hardly wore anything else for everyday runnings and soon enough decided on getting the second pair in a different color. No doubt I'll be back for more pairs in future and would gladly recommend them to anyone looking for comfort and style in shoes. Clarks has always been a name associated with the best in footwear and the desert boots proves it again!
Classic, cool, but a little funky on the fit
I ordered these for my 20-something son, who needed shoes for work that would be "grown-up," but not formal. The Clarks desert boot was a perfect choice. They're decidedly classic, but also New Millenium cool (taupe distressed). They go with urban jeans or khakis. He reports that the forward part of the shoe is a little tight, but the heel is on the loose side, so bear that in mind.
