Safe and Secure!
My 94 year old mom loves it! As previous reviewer have said it's very steady snd easy to assemble. We used a raised up seat attachment previously but she likes the independent rails better

Wish it were the actual size as advertised!
This would be a great help in getting up from the toilet except for the fact that they advertised it as being 4 inches shorter than what arrived! I have a very low toilet and needed that shorter size. The shortest size I can make this is 29 inches and it's like pulling my arm out of the socket every time I use it. Needless to say, it's in storage! And I also don't like the fact that Medline lets everyone know what's in the boxes! In the future, if I can order the same product from a different company, I will.

Safe and Secure!

Easy to install, adjustments accomodate use

My wife was reluctant to have to resort to this type of rail, but realizes it really makes getting up easier. Having to rely on external devices for support is not an easy adjustment, but when the rails are made with the quality of these rails, and are adjustable to fit a variety of needs, that type of life change becomes easier. This product meets all of my expectations, it is a quality product and simple to install. The adjustments made the acceptance of this device greater. Thanks for carrying an exceptional quality product

Very functional piece of equipment!

I'm using the Medline Toilet Safety Rails after having foot and ankle surgery 8 days ago. It was very easy to install prior to surgery and was adjustable to fit the space between the counter and the bathtub. It has made my post-surgery days much better since I cannot yet put weight on my foot and am using a knee scooter to get around. No problem getting myself off the toilet and back onto my knee scooter without putting weight on my foot! And, at less than $35, a super good value!

Sturdy, Easy to Install, Adjustable, Good value.

After shopping around, we purchased this for my mom, in her 80s. Now I'm wondering why I didn't have one of these sooner. The width has 2 settings and the height has about 5 settings. Adjusting it is as simple as pushing in the metal button, lowering or extending the pole until the button reaches the next hole. It attaches to the toilet by removing the entire toilet seat lid, placing this product over the holes, and then putting the lid screws through the product and re-installing the lid as usual. I like this model because having the legs on the floor gives it more sturdiness than the kind that just hang in mid-air. there can be a little movement of these rails if the washer inside the pole is not sitting correctly, but is otherwise pretty sturdy. I will provide photos later on.

Solid and very adjustable

this is a great product for a low cost to assist with toilet use. Would have been 5 star product if a one page directions could have been enclosed. Also could use some kind of pad for between metal bar and porcelain of toilet, I used some foam weatherstripping. We expect temporary usage during surgical recover so don't want to damage toilet surface. Very easy to adjust both in width and height, I think I have it proper since again no written guidance enclosed or on product web site.

1. weight is under 4 lbs
by retired73
2. no, not even when its in the shipping box.
by Smileydotcom
3. It may show a shipping wt of that, but the actual weight of the product is only ounces, not even 1 lb.
by Garfdallas
4. The Wal-mart item weighs 3.4lbs it fits a standard toilet bowl, Unscrew seat and it fits over the holes easy to install and adjust height and use...Lobscouse.
by Lobscouse
5. NO, but they are comparable. I added a brace (1x2) across the front below the toilet bowl with a drill and 2 bolts and it's rock solid now. You can't beat the price.
by OkieBob64
6. Yes, it is very light-weight! But sturdy!
by Sirromel
7. I do not remember the weight but it is a lot closer to 3-4 lbs than 16 lbs.
by oldguy678
8. This set seriously did NOT weigh 16 LBS. I took it out of the store carrying it with one hand... it was awkward (big flat box) but not heavy. If you saw 16 LBS, it must've been a typo.
by WayTooBusy1963
9. No. It weights about 4lbs.
by 65R8

1. height is the problem..do not go by the specs on the website.
by retired73
2. it is designed to install between the toilet seat and the toilet. It will fit nicely on all regular toilets, both round and oblong. The toilet seat bolts go through the handrail and the toilet bowl, so unless you have some odd sized custom-made toilet, it should fit nicely.
by Garfdallas
3. It fits any standard bowl, you can adjust the legs easily. if the bowl is a taller old model. Lobscouse.
by Lobscouse
4. Yes, the legs and width are fully adjustable even for the elevated toilets.
by OkieBob64
5. It uses the same "bolt pattern" that the toilet seat uses. It is height adjustable and should fit any conventional toilet.
by oldguy678
6. It attaches to the holes in the back of the toilet where you attach the toilet seat... using the same holes. I'm guessing those are a standard size as you can buy any toilet seat and attach it... so this would line up with those same holes.
by WayTooBusy1963
7. This item fits under the toilet seat and needs a little more than 1 inch of flat surface behind the seat.
by 65R8
8. yes! it attaches where the seat and lid attaches (right along with them, not in stead of) and it's easy to install, too! it does not matter if it is a round seat or an oblong. it will fit them all.
by HandicapableDiva
9. Yes
by fish41
10. Yes, however we had to alter the steps of installation because of limited space between our toilet and sink. If it is limited space on either side, you will have to change the sequence of the installation steps.
by Skinnydog
11. It fits an elongated American Standard toilet without any problems

1. Unbolt the existing seat, install, and re-bolt the seat back on
by AverageJosephine7
2. It is mounted at the back of the toilet where the screw keeps the toilet seat and lid to the toilet bowl. Use a screw driver to remove the screws at the back, remove the toilet seat and lid, put the safety frame plate on and then reattach the toilet seat and lid. Sounds confusing but it is very easy.
by Donna
3. Anchors to back of toilet seat. Use it to push up like you would from a chair seat.
by Mothersadvocate
4. You take the seat off and put this underneath and then the seat bolts over the top of it. You cannot topple forward.
by Pegster57
5. mounts on back of toilet. in the same holes that the toilet seat is mounted in, we placed the frame for the rails first against the toilet then added the toilet seat back in and reseated the bolts. It will not prevent the person from toppling forward, but allows the person to push off of the arms to assist themselves in standing.
by barb
6. It bolts to the toilet behind the toilet seat. Seated on the regular toilet seat, you should not topple over. retiredspeducator
by retiredspeducator
7. It mounts behind the commode seat...got it for my mom and she loves it!!
by TannyK
8. You need to undo the bolts (usually plastic) that hold the seat to the toilet, put the horizontal bar of the Rails on the toilet, and the put the bolts back in place. It is secured to the toilet that way. If person is unable to sit upright, it might be a problem, but the rail would not come off.
by Ruth
9. It mounts in the area where your toilet seat lid mounts. There is no rail that goes across the front if that is what you need, it just gives support to help sit or raise up.
by Janie
10. remove the lid and seat, add bolts to holes and replace lid and seat. I have had no problem losing balance or falling forward.
