So Far, So Great!!

Ok ..finally went ahead and purchased the 21" Hidden Led - was concerned on how to mount on my Eclipse 3 Hood - was actually pretty simple. Removed the entire light fixture, leaving just the hood, attached the Hidden Led to the back rim and ran the wire through the cutouts in the back ....attach the suction cup-switch to the side and voila! LED is brighter than the fluorescent ..and the "shimmer"action gives the tank a realistic feel. The blue 'nighttime' setting is a lil dark for my taste but can live with it. All and all, pretty happy with the purchase! Will keep ya posted ..but good job so far Marineland!
New Hidden LED (Fluorescent Replacement)

Broke in a week

This came with my 60gal marineland tank with stand and lid. Is supposed to be white or blue, but the blue setting flickered even when we first purchased it and now does not function at all. Confused on how to get a replacement or if I want one. I did enjoy the mounting concept, though.
Thank you for your review, Mandaconda! We are certainly sorry to hear the blue lights have not been working correctly since the beginning. Please call our Care Team at 1-800-526-0650 for help with this product.

A very good product but adding an automated day/night feature would make it a great product!!

Light output is impressive and spectrally suited for planted or unplanted tanks (6500K day/450nm night)...I'm also happy with the way it brings out cichlid colors. I have used several of these units in the 21" length to modernize older fluorescent Perfecto hoods. They work great for this and I recommend them totally!...the old hoods are easily gutted of the old fluorescent fixture, ballast and remaining small components, and the LED fixture is installed instead (easily and safely doable by non-electricians). One downside is that the day/night switch is (only) manually there is NO WAY to automate tank lighting for day/night. You can certainly plug (wallwort) power supply into a timer, but timer would only switch power on to whatever (day OR night) setting the switch was set to. A definite product improvement I can see is to build in a timer into the unit and include a feature where day and night are BOTH programmable. I'd pay extra for that (hey Product Improvement Department, are you reading this?). Cheers!

Using outside for pond waterfall

I have been using outside for my pond waterfall for over five years straight. The switch stopped working for blue light only. However, The blue lights work with the white ones. This is because I never weather protected the switch.I cant believe it lasted that long. Also, before I used this in my pond, I used it in my reef tank

Retrofit your Regent/Eclipse Marineland hood light with one of these!

My florescent light stopped working on my old Eclipse all-in-one filtration/hood system and it wasn't just bulb problem. Someone above suggested this product as a retrofit. I tried it. It's amazing, I just opened up the existing plastic light cover, removed the florescent bulb and this LED bar magically fits right in the slot where the bulb goes. There is enough tension from the electric wire plug on the left that it wedges in there and stays. I then replaced the plastic light cover and snapped the holding pins to lock the cover down and whola! Not only did I resolve my broken light problem but I upgrade to lower cost, better light LED. I highly recommend others try this, even if your existing florescent bulb and light still work, this is worth the investment to upgrade as you get more light and you can select between day and night mode.
