    Mainstays Mid-back Leather Office Chair,Black

Great chair, very nice leather rolls great. Adjustments are easy and looks good

    Comfortable but defective

I just bought this chair 5 days ago. I tried it the night my husband put it together and it was comfortable. Today I went to use it and the seat will not stay at the height I want. It sinks to the floor every time. Now I have to figure out how to return it. Not sure if you can tell in the picture, but the arms are at least 6 inches below my desk.

Too Uncomfortable to Use for Long Periods of Time

    Bought this monstrosity in store

    A very nice chair

This chair is very easy to assemble. It is very comfortable. Make sure that the seat cushion is turned to the proper orientation otherwise the the tilt back feature of the chair will not work. It will be facing correctly if the tilt back tension knob on the underside of the cushion is in front of the mounting post. This chair is very good looking too.

    Don't waste your money

I bought this office chair for $55 because I needed a quick, cheap replacement for a 3-year-old office chair whose pneumatic cylinder was starting to fail, and this chair is no better out of the box than that one was at the end of its life. The pneumatic cylinder is cheap junk. It didn't hold its position from almost the first time I used the chair. it sinks over time and If you lean in the chair in just the right way, the cylinder loses pressure and drops jerkily inch by inch. I'm constantly repositioning myself and the chair to combat this. As often as not, when you get up and then go to sit back down, it will drop you to its lowest position as if there's nothing there, even if you're squarely aligned in the seat. In addition, while the chair looks comfortably well-padded, the seat is filled with cheap foam and if you use it for more than an hour or two at a time, it feels like you're sitting on a board. I'm going to see about returning this chair because it's utter garbage.

    so-so OK for the price

The posting here on the site says "NEW" however it looks just like the one I bought about 16 months ago in store. I have a home office now and have been using it regularly now in home for the past 8 months. Just recently the gas cylinder is starting to fail. While sitting it will intermittently start bumping down every few seconds until it gets all the way down. I am not overly heavy, 5'10 195lbs. Every thing else is fine, not much to say on assembly I have tools and skills but if you use butter knifes for screw drivers you might have a problem. The material is still in good shape as well as the rest of the wheels and hardware all OK. I am now looking for a higher end chair as I don't like sitting on the floor. It scares me to see comments of other higher $ chairs having similar gas cylinder problems but maybe I will against my will purchase an extended warranty with what ever one I chose.

Product Discontinued - Chair Broke in ONE Day

If I give this 0 stars I would. I purchased the Mainstays Mid-Back Leather Office chair in April 2018 (approx.). We opened it, put it together, threw out the box, etc. After about 1-2 days of using it, the chair started sinking to the ground. I barely weigh 100lbs, so it certainly is not a weight issue. I emailed the company since the product has 1-year manufacturer warranty. No response. Tried to submit a replacement part inquiry on their website to fix, and that section did not work. After weeks of trying to call them, I FINALLY got a hold of someone. The stated the issue sounded like the “gas lift” was broken and they would send a replacement part. Weeks to a month passed…no part received. I called back and was told this item has been discontinued and the part is not available, nor can they send a replacement chair. The rep stated she would reach out to the warehouse in China to see what can be done. Still nothing. Now after spending $55 on this chair from Walmart, with no packaging anymore, I have a broken chair at no fault of my own. I have emailed in hopes they can assist, but we will see.

Could be better, could be worse.

I've been using this chair for about 8 months now and I have been diagnosed with poor circulation in my legs. I'm afraid I"m going to have to retire this chair very soon because the padding is very thin and is likely exacerbating my condition. I have purchased an excellent seat cushion and even that is not enough to help prolong the life of the chair. The cylinder sometimes decides to give me that sinking feeling, lowering me in pulses, a half inch at a time. Also, one armrest has loosened, I can tighten it back, though. Not a great chair for someone who spends a lot of time at their desk but for casual use it's pretty okay. It is really easy to assemble.

    Regret purchasing

For reference I'm about 5"11 and 190 lbs. Pros: Assembling is actually a breeze, everything went together pretty quickly and nothing was confusing. The materials are surprisingly decent for the price. Actually looks pretty okay. Cons: Extremely uncomfortable, the seat cushion is way too short so it feels like half your thigh is just hanging off. You can lower and raise it but not nearly enough, I'm a little higher at my desk even at the lowest setting than I want to be. I'm not sure what I was expecting, I didn't think I'd be in paradise or something because this replaced a dang camping chair. But honestly the camping chair was way more comfortable, I regret dropping $55.00 on this.

It was alright for a few days...

Installing was easy but it didn't work right. It wouldn't adjust up or down and it took a long time to get it to work. It felt alright for the first few days but now it's pretty much uncomfortable. Seat is already flat and it feels like I'm sitting on plastic. It looks nice but it's definitely cheaply made. Very disappointed and I wasnt even expecting much.
