Twin Metal Canopy Bed

This is a great twin canopy bed. It's not flimsy in any way but i wouldn't hang anything too heavy over the top rails. It's perfect also because you do not need a box spring under the mattress. It has several metal slats across the bed frame for mattress support. It comes with all the hardware you need including that little tool to tighten the screws. I do not like that tool. It always slips out of my hands and is too small. I did use it though to put together this bed just to see how easy it would be. To my surprise it was very easy. It has approximately 30 screws that were all labeled, easy to follow instructions and all lettered parts. The pieces all lined up great and fit together nice and snug. The slats just fit into a slot, no screws, with a plastic fastener to lock it in place. My son is 6' and fit in it...lol. I would recommend this canopy bed but would also recommend using a better tool to put it together. Basically it has everything you need right in the box.

I love the design of this canopy bed.

The Mainstays Metal Canopy Twin Bed is perfect for the small space I needed for a bed. I could not believe that it fit as perfect as it did. I was surprised when it was delivered in such a small box. I guess when you think canopy, you expect larger pieces. It was boxed very well. The instructions were great, but the person I had put it together, said it would have been easier if there were two people. But, he did a great job, and it looks terrific. It seems very sturdy, and it is neat looking, You do not have to use a boxed springs with it, just a mattress. It has sturdy rails, which you can see in my photos. I wanted you to see what the bed really looked like, without a mattress or bedding, since you could see what it looked like with bedding in the ad. I have a very small area where I am putting the Mainstay Metal Canopy Bed, but it would look just as good in a regular bedroom where you wanted a twin bed. I like the idea that it doesn't have sharp lines on it anywhere, so you don't have to worry about small children cutting their hands. There is space under the bed to put small toys and boxes. It isn't deep, so you don't have to worry about the mattress being too high off the floor. I am excited to put the mattress, and get the bedding, for the Mainstay Metal Canopy Bed, because it is exactly right for my space. I am very pleased with the design and sturdiness of this bed, and recommend it highly.

Nice simplistic bed, easy to assemble!

So the Mainstays Metal Canopy Bed was a breeze to put together and looks pretty good in my son's room. He is ten years old and he seems to like it. My husband thought it would be too “girlie”, but he doesn't think so now that we put it together. It didn't take long to put together, in fact it only took about an hour and twenty minutes. I was determined to put it together by myself, and I did. The only problem I had was putting the support brackets in, one of them was hard to get in the designated spot, but the rest was easy to get tilted and work in. The instructions were very easy to understand and all the pieces were in tact. Then the only other problem I had was one of the balls on top of the canopy rail did not screw in all the way, but all the rest did. It looks very well put together and sophisticated. I like it a lot and it holds up my son's mattress really well. It isn't shakey or anything, it seems to be sturdy.

Sturdy bed frame

The Mainstays Metal Canopy Bed (Twin) is a sturdy metal four-post-bed. It comes in a box with all of the material (metal pieces) wrapped in plastic bags inside a long rectangular box. On each of the metal pieces will be a sticker with an alphabet letter (e.g. a, f, g) which are labels for the metal pieces to allow you to identify the different metal pieces when installing this metal canopy bed together. Not going to lie, there were so many metal pieces, which initially made me overwhelmed to have to install this whole thing together. However, it comes with a detailed instruction manual with detailed pictures, which made the installation process a lot easier and less overwhelming. But it was still a lot of work to install this bed together. This Mainstays Metal Canopy Bed is designed with additional four post metal pieces so it is not just the traditional bed frame for the mattress; this kind of gives your bed a more majestic feel to it. There are pro and cons to this. It looks more sophisticated and cool, but it also takes more room and makes it more challenging to move to another room. For this metal canopy bed, there is no box spring needed, so you can just add your mattress onto the metal frame. Overall, a rather sturdy bed frame.

One word for this bed "Perfect"

This Mainstays Metal Canopy bed is absolutely perfect. I love the clean lines, the style, the color, and openness of this bed frame. The entire bed is metal, including the eighteen slats for the mattress. I have another bed that has the metal slats, so I kind of know what to expect with metal slats versus wood slats. I started with a light mattress (with my other bed) without a box spring. A box spring is not necessary for this bed. I ended up adding a box spring because the mattress will move and shift slightly on metal slats. With this bed I have actually ordered a different style mattress that should work fine. I never really had this problem with wood slats, although I still prefer a metal slat. Wood slats break, have a lot of high and low spots that can be felt through the mattress. This does not happen with metal slats. Metal slats are a more comfortable way to sleep for sure. The black metal color, looks very sophisticated. The color is a more matte color. I was so happy to see the paint color because I did not want to have a shiny paint. I think this bed looks more elegant than most black metal beds. The recommended weight limit is 225 pound, although I think that it will hold a lot more weight. It's metal, and it's structurally solid. It requires a standard twin mattress, and the bed is not recommended for children under 4 years of age. I am not sure of the weight, but it's heavy. The instructions recommend two people for assembly, however I assembled most of the bed by myself. The only tool I needed was a screw driver, a hex head was provided with the hardware. The instructions were perfect, and I assembled over the course of two days. The instruction manual states 1.5 hours for assemble, which is probably pretty accurate. I did not need to contact for support, but there is a toll free number and web site address if you need help. The bed is solid, and structurally sound. There were no knicks, scratches, or dings that compromised the integrity of the paint. I expect this bed will last for many years, and the decorating options are limitless.

LOVE THIS BED FRAME!

Its a well made canopy bed frame. My husband was able to assemble it in less than 45 minutes. I like how the foot of it holds the bed linens and comforter in place. And it has plenty of room under it to put baskets for storage. We put a twin size mattress on it. I personally added netting on top of it to complete a safari theme I was going for in the room its in. But the netting does not come with it. On its own and as its sold its a lovely contemporary style black bed frame with canopy. Sturdy and not flimsy at all and pretty easy to assemble with easy to understand instructions that came with it. None of the bedding or other accessories in my photo come with this bed frame.

Durable Canopy Bed

I am doing a review today on the Mainstays Metal Canopy Bed. It is shipped in only one box. The box is very heavy. This one is a twin. It comes in black and white. I have the black one and it is beautiful. It is very Elegant looking. The bed does not require a foundation. The mattress, for safety reasons, must be 74-75" Long and 37 1/2 -38 1/2" Wide. Also, no horse playing or jumping on this bed for safety reasons. Do not use risers under the bed and do not hang or climb on the top metal rails. These things can cause injuries to your child. I always look for the safety warnings first. Oh, it is not for children under the age of four. The weight limit is 225lbs according to the manual. The instructions are very easy to follow. You will need a philip headed screwdriver to put this bed together. This is not included in the box. You will need to have access to it. You cannot use a power drill because it might strip or damage some of the parts. All parts are labeled with alphabets on white stickers. That was such a big help to me. It make it super easy. It took about two hours to put together. It took that long because it was a long process not because it is hard. There are 14 metal slates on the bottom to screw in and that takes time and patience. They added a metal center rail and legs for added support. It is very sturdy. I think it is very durable and will last for years to come. One of the poles did have a small dent at the bottom. I was able to hammer it out. It was small and I was able to take care of it myself so I am not deducting a star. I recommend this bed to parents that are safety conscious.

Easy to build however...

The bed was pretty easy to put together. It took me an hour and 45 minutes from unboxing to the finished product. Read the directions and look at the illustrations carefully. I only needed an extra pair of hands when I put the top canopy bars together. I almost bent one of the bars when I tried to do it myself. I gave this bed four stars because the small screws that go into the top, longer canopy bars do not screw in all the way. Luckily they're not entirely necessary because the bars slide into one another. But its poor design that the screws don't fully screw in. Otherwise, I'm happy!

Great Bed

Arrived today. I started unpacking at 4pm and didn't get finished until 6pm. I took my time and ensured all the pieces were secure. I'm buying sheer panels for this bed and from the rod to the floor it's 72 inches. 75 inches from the top of each finial. Super sturdy. I have a thick memory foam mattress and it looks very clean and modern with the sheets tucked underneath. High recommend.

first time having a canopy bed :)

Purchased this Mainstays model from the Walmart website and it arrived on schedule and in a much smaller, lighter box than expected. Box is 5 feet long, 2 feet wide, 6 inches deep, "77 lbs. Gross Weight". Initially thought a second or third box was missing and would be arriving separately. The other model I considered buying had many reviews emphasizing the package was extremely heavy and troubling to deliver to apartment buildings/walk upstairs. This Mainstays model, however, was not too heavy or bulky at all, honestly packaged quite well for a Queen Size bed! Total assembly took 1.5 hours and went smoothly with two people. The main tool to use is a hex key/allen wrench included in the package which does get annoying quickly! The saving grace for me was that my personal tool box has a hex tip that I could use on my screwdriver and this helped tremendously for leverage and tightening to have a more controlled grip and maneuver in the "right corners" of the assembly process. Instructions and parts were easy to follow/identify and all metal pieces were clearly labeled with stickers and letters A-Z. Bed has been together 24 hrs. and does not seem to make much noise. It was a concern of mine beforehand that the metal would be squeaky or loud when sitting down & laying down or just be noisy at all, and it really does not seem to be an issue (so far). One excellent part about this model is that the four knobs at the top of the posts are the final step in the assembly process, making it possible to shop around and try different styles of fabric by simply untwisting the knobs, hanging the curtains and reattaching the corner post knobs to determine what style works best. Height is 72", true to description. Color "Black" is true black and perfectly matches existing furniture. No scratches or dings were present and the finish has a nice sheen/looks upscale in my opinion. Lastly, the one other review listed on this Mainstays model reads that the bed is "low to ground" and I do not find that to be an issue. My bed with the mattress measures 23 inches from ground to top of mattress, however a box spring under the mattress would add some height if needed. Note to manufacturer: Please add perforations to the cardboard backing of the Hardware package to easily access the nuts/bolts/screws individually during each step.
