My wife and I bought this gazebo for our grill last summer when they first came out. It seemed like a great idea since I like to grill and sometimes I end up having to grill in the rain. The grill gazebo seemed like a great idea at first, but it turned to repeated frustration with this product. I could not get the Velcro straps on the canvas cover tight enough to keep it from holding water when it rained. I would constantly have to drain it after it rained or try to re-tighten the straps, but the canvas had already started stretching. After a year of ownership it has not held up well at all. The canvas cover has faded and is now ripping from constant water gathering on the cover and exposure to the sun. Additionally, the canvas cover becomes a huge sail when it is windy out. I have had to put it back up multiple times because the wind has picked it up and blown it over which has damaged the cross supports along the bottom and crack the cover frame. The stakes are not adequate enough to keep the gazebo anchored to the ground securely. I supplemented the stakes with additional weight in the form of pavers and buckets filled with water and placed them over the staked bottom cross members. None of that worked to keep the gazebo securely planted on the ground. The only pros to this gazebo is that it does keep the rain off of you and your grill should you be grilling during a light rain as well as give you some shade depending on which direction you have it facing. Outside of those two pros, I do not recommend this grill gazebo to anyone! You would be wiser to either buy a more expensive model (without a canvas top) or build one yourself. I have opted to build my next grill gazebo so it can be securely mounted to the ground and built to withstand the wind. Finally, after pricing materials to build my own, it is going to be cheaper to build than the next model up.

First this fits perfectly over my patio sliding glass doors (which by the way have a western view). This is a perfect shade that prevents the sun from overheating the room, and provides a rain block so I can leave the doors open in the rain. Must cheaper than trying to install a regular awning - simply bolted it to my wood deck. Was very easy to assemble by myself. Only complaint is same as many others - it does sag just enough to hold water. My solution was simple and cheap - bought a plastic chicken wire like fence roll, removed the cover, trimmed a couple of pieces of the fencing to fix over the top, attached tightly it with plastic zip ties, then put the cover back on. Works perfectly.

First of all, it was not too hard to assemble, but will require a lot of room and 2 people. it is not as sturdy as i was hoping it would be, but it does the job. That is until it rained! The top is canvas and while it is waterproof, it did puddle on the top and started stretching the material. So how do you combat this problem? 2 suggestions, First is to purchase some rigid metal or plastic strips and run them from back to front in between the 2 large open areas reducing the area that will hold water. OR 2nd I went to home depot and bought 3 sheets of metal (tin-corrugated) roofing panels. cost was 30.00 (10.00 ea.) top measures 7' x 5' because I overlapped them my top is now 8' x 5.5'Screw them to the frame using self tapping screws and seal w/silicone over screw to make water tight. NOW i have a hard top that is not only a bit bigger but also makes the top sturdier. I plan on adding something to the back section to give the overall frame more structural integrity. Now I have a great shelter for around 100.00 and looks great too! see photo!

Perfect for our needs

First, don't even try to understand the directions. Steps are omitted. Wording is confusing. Once you get the first frame built, it's pretty easy going from there, though. So far, the frame seems sturdy enough and the design and functionality is smart. That being said, I would agree with what everybody says about the fabric holding water. I'll be monkeying around with fashioning some tin to the frame or something similar as other reviewers have done and I've already secured bamboo fencing around the frame to help with shade. But, I like the price and I like the dimensions and it works very well for our needs. I'd recommend it.

Great shelter great price. $66 on clearance. For those that are complaining about this not doing well in rain, you get what you pay for. If you want something that does good in rain then buy something more expensive that is waterproof. This is mainly to protect from the sun and heat.

  • A. Sure it can. There are holes in the base that you can put bolts (or screws) through. In fact, I plan to use one of these gazebos as a porch cover in front of my greenhouse, and I'm going to bolt it down to the deck with wood screws.

  • A. I would say YES. There are holes in the metal brace. Because ours sits on cement, and I wanted to be able to tilt it down if necessary, I just set some bricks on it. That has worked well.

  • A. There are two holes on each of the two bottom side rails. 4 stakes/big nails are provided for use securing the shelter to the ground. I don't see any reason you couldn't use bolts or lag bolts to fasten it down into wood, etc.

  • A. Yes. In the sides at the bottom there are 2 holes predrilled in that little piece of metal that goes between the legs. My kit had two large spikes for each side (four total). If you are going to leave it up (not recommended in directions) you will probably want to secure it better.

I was wondering what i can add to the top of the metal structure to help with the rain from stretching the canopy.

  • A. Replace the canopy with fiberglass roofing sheets. You will need 2 4 x8 sheets and you can cut them over lapping them and securing them with sheet metal screws to the top of the frame.

  • A. I don't think you could add enough extra support to make a difference. If you want to go down that road consider replacing the canopy with something solid.

  • A. I don't know, but I'm thinking of trying some chicken wire. (Do they still make chicken wire?!?) It won't look pretty from underneath, but I was thinking it would lift the canopy fairly evenly all the way across and hold it there.

  • A. I wouldn't add anything too heavy. If you want you could get some thin metal roofing such as is used in barns, cut it to size and use some self tapping screws to attach it. However, the metal used on this gazebo is pretty thin. Best bet is to just use a pole to lift canopy when there is water collected on it or take it down when not in use.

  • A. I added flat wood strips 1/8 thick x 1.5" wde x 6' long front to back (6) pieces found at any Lowes or Home Depot, they fit perfectly under the canopy and the rain runs off the back, put them under the front rail , over the middle and under the rear, they will not move and it's easy and inexpensive.

Whomever answered that the tallest end was about 8 feet was way off. This would have been perfect for what I wanted to use this for, but sadly it is not. I need to raise it about 20inches to make it work for my application. Any ideas?

  • A. it is only about 6 feet froom the ground to the first bar. You could try using cinder bloocks to raise it and use a few more on top of the bottom brace to hold it down as so it wont blow away and then i would use some brackets to hold it against the house. Hope you get it working. good luck

  • A. I had the same idea and was similarly disappointed. I don't know about 20 inches, but I put a couple of landscape timbers under it (cut to size), which raised it another 8" and screwed it to the timbers instead of bolting it down on lawn or patio. It still isn't quite as high as I was hoping for, but I am satisfied with the result.

  • A. Try putting some cement blocks maybe. You could use an extra course above the side supports to anchor it. Then if you don't like the look of the cement tile the sides. You could also try some custom type planter boxes under each side support. Just make sure you secure it well so the wind doesn't take it
