Terrible shelf.

Poor quality. My box was wore on one end, and once the pieces were out several have water damage and cracked laminate. Returning.

Don’t waste your money, fell apart

Was excited to add it to my classroom. It looked really nice and was easy to put together but week 2 it fell apart sending books all over the place. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Very sturdy if extra brace supports are installed

I initially received a damaged set of boards but Walmart made it right. Their customer service is top notch! Obviously, this bookcase is the most bare bones you can get in terms of materials and design but it worked out quite nicely at the end for me which is why I gave it 5 stars. The instruction booklet was very well written and organized in very easy to understand illustrated steps. Even though the instructions do not mention it but you clearly need a builders square in order to make sure all the corners are square and straight. Once that is done, the backing boards went on perfectly. After the bookcase was completed, the engineer in me felt it needed more structural support so I went to a big chain hardware store and bought some corner braces and mending plates for around $5 total. After I installed the extra hardware, the bookcase was so solid and stable that I was able to move it fully upright without swaying or leaning. It looks very nice in the corner of my living room and holds my headphone collection and other audio equipment.

Good product for price

I bought two of these bookshelves and had them delivered to my new apartment. The boxes were intact and there were no missing or damaged parts or boards. While an instruction manual is included, I ended up searching for a video on YouTube for a visual reference. I would highly recommend following the video ( if you are less mechanically adept. It took around 30-45 minutes per bookcase to install and place the bookshelves where I wanted them. I would suggest building the bookcase with the bottom board close to the location of where you plan to place it. Once the book case is erect, it is hard to move. My biggest pet peeve was the amount of Styrofoam pieces that went everywhere. You will definitely need to vacuum when you're done putting together this bookshelf (to be expected with most projects).

Looks quality

Downside is It took about an hour or two to construct but I like it. It’s a good addition to my living room.

I got these on sale in my Wal-Mart for $25.00 each. I bought them for my walk in closet. I live in an apartment so storage shelves are a must. I will be buying about 4 more within the next couple days. As mentioned in other reviews; if you take your time, learn to understand the directions, and put it together correctly; they are sturdy and do not wobble... Hey, for 25.00 they are making my closet start to look like those expensive built in ones at a very tiny fraction of the cost.. If you have small children theses shelves come with a strap, molly and screws in which you can attach the shelf to the wall so it does not tip over.... I love my shelves!!

Very Good. But Could Be Better

Instead of getting two long boards on the sides, you get four boards. This makes the bookcase very wobbly. I had to reinforce it with metal braces (which can be purchased at any hardware store. I got mine at Home Depot for about $0.50- $0.60 each. I added 12 in all). With the metal braces in place, the bookcase is very sturdy, more sturdy than my other bookcases. Nevertheless, the shelf bends when you place too much weight on it. You can see from the photo that the top shelf is bent because I placed too many heavy hardcover bks on it. But the middle shelf is straight because there are mainly light softcover books there.

Fairly decent

Good size for the money. Roomy shelves

Fair deal

I was nervous putting it together as the material is fragile. With the help of my dad, we did finish making it and took our time. I had no issues with the case and shelf pieces...The backboard wasn't exactly cut perfectly so it was annoying to align it in a way it wasn't sticking out. It is but ever so slightly. I liked that there was a website you can go to and there was a video with instructions. Made it much easier to put together. Overall, I am happy with how it turned out and looks good with all my things on it! At $27 bucks I wouldn't be heartbroken if it did break or get scratched after some time....

This bookcase is cursed

So I bought one of these several months ago and I liked it so much I decided to buy a second. Well, they were sold out at every Walmart in a 30 mile radius if I wanted a matching white one, so I had to order it. My first order got lost. The second order was sent to the store via FedEx. The day it arrived it decided to become freaking Monsoon Season in Alabama so I couldn't get it for several days since particle board and rain don't mix. I finally got it home two weeks after I placed my order and tried to put it together. One of the shelves was warped, one was dinged, and I was missing several things from the hardware packet so I had to order replacements and wait on those. Fast forward to yesterday when Hurricane Cindy decided to have a tantrum in lower Alabama, it rained, a lot and even though water didn't come in it apparently soaked through the concrete subfloor and this bookcase drank it up. I know I can't blame the manufacturer for the rain, but I can blame them for selling me a cursed item. Now I've got to go throw brick dust or some voodoo un-hexing powder at it and buy a new bookcase.
