I bought this combo today needing a desk to put my person pc on. My company has furnished me with a company computer so I was in need of nothing real fancy. I bought this thinking it was a great little bundle for the money. The instructions were easy, and it was very easy to put together. It is sturdy and would work for some people, but first off it has a paint issue on top of the desk, and the keyboard shelf is so small u can barely work a keyboard and mouse both on it. If you are looking to put a normal size monitor (19-22inch) on this desk forget it..Theres no room left. I did contact the store since the desk is already together and they said I can bring it back. So it will be returned tomorrow. So this desk may be right for the not so average computer user, otherwise I wouldnt suggest it at all. I have attached a pic of the desktop where the paints blemished or something. also a pic showing there is no room between the keyboard and actual desk to type and it does not slide out far at all. Fairly 2 inches of room

I moved from a larger to a smaller home. Therefore, needing a smaller desk. I looked all over on-line & in store but never finding the right one for me. Not large so I have no walking room. But not to small so I have no work room. This is perfect! My printer fits perfectly on the tall thingy with a drawer:) But I don't have to much use for the bookshelf. The only reason there were scratches on it was cause of putting it together. Which was quite simple. Common sense basically. All the pieces were there, holes in correct placings. But I did not install the keyboard slot. Cause I don't like em:) Looks good:) I love it.

It's not a bad set in my opinion. I would have given 5 stars had there not been blemishes; unfortunately, I didn't notice them until I had the computer desk already assembled. The pictures I've included are to help with relating the size of the pieces. The laptop you see on the computer stand is a 17"; and DVDs fit nicely on the shelf of the bookshelf. Like most of the reviews, it is a little overwhelming when you get all the pieces ready for assembly, but everything is labeled and the directions are very easy to follow. My set is pretty sturdy; the wood is heavy so I have no issues with it sitting unevenly or wobbling. I have no doubt it will get me through my last year of college, but I would not recommend this set for high traffic areas. It took me about 3 hours to assemble it but it would have been less if that time was uninterrupted. Just like any other product, be sure to look at all the pieces before you begin. The "crack" on mine is pretty significant but I decided it wasn't worth my time to disassemble it and return it. It will serve its purpose just fine.

I bought this set for the utility shelf which has the perfect dimensions for the space between the two desks in my home office. I did not install the drawer into it but placed my subwoofer into the unit. I have two other shelfs in it that I use to store newspapers/magazines. The book shelf I use as shoe storage in a closet close to the front door. The desk I modified a bit (shortened it) and placed it into the home office closet as an extra desk and to store some of the PC's I'm building/modifying. Overall not a bad set.

  • A. You could omit the keyboard shelf but I installed mine and it is the perfect space to store the laptop when not in use. My son slides the shelf out and puts the laptop in place then slides the shelf back in so that the laptop is safe and out of the way when he and his friends play. He is 7 and loves the shelf to put his book on when he is studying. He just pulls it out when he needs to look at the book.

  • A. Yes. Although I have the keyboard shelf installed and use it with a keyboard you do not have to install the shelf. I have a laptop and additional monitor on the desktop. I purchased a second set and created a corner desk setup - one for working from home and one for personal use - since I have separate laptops for work and personal use.

  • A. I haven't tried it, but I can't see why you couldn't do it that way. The only issues would be a) you'll have the pre-drilled holes meant for the keyboard shelf showing, and b) it might take away some of the stability. The desk is a bit shaky to begin with and I feel the keyboard tray helps hold it all in place. I use a laptop with it also, and use the keyboard tray just as another place to put things (i.e. notebook/paper/sticky note pad).

At the bottom of the description it says that the desk and chairs are sold separately. Does this mean that the middle part does not come with the purchase? Also , please confirm that all three pieces are not attached to each other. Thank you

  • A. I think it means the "desk chair" is sold separately. There are three total pieces in this set: the computer desk, the bookcase, and the utility stand (filing cabinet), and they are not connected.

  • A. They worded it poorly. A chair can be categorized as desk chairs or task chairs, so the phrase "Desk and Task Chairs" refers to just chairs. The desk is included in the unit.

I just bought a dressor same brand from Walmart & there are no rollers on it. It's tough to open, has no rollers, and made of plastic. I really like this set for the size & value but I am hesitant...

  • A. If you mean rollers on the drawer to help it slide in and out yes, it does have them, if you mean rollers on the bottom to move it around no it does not have them, the wheels on the drawer are the same style of set up that goes into kitch drawer, they are metal and have very little room for slipping out, i've never had drawers like this come off the track, unless you pulled too hard when opening it and it will come all the way out but is very simple to put back on the track.
