No, the Magellan GPS does not display altitude

It may take a few minutes the first time you start up, but after that it should only take a few seconds to link the satellite.

Typing in the address is easier than garmin. And the graphics of the lanes you are driving display your lane and the on coming lane as well. I highly recommend this product for its quality and price.

Better than garmin

I'm really glad I purchased this Magellan GPS unit. Great value for the money . This my second Magellan GPS unit. It has a lot of features for the money and is very compact. It has excellent graphics.

Nice GPS

I find the device is very nice in that it tells you a landmark near where you turn. I find it slow when I try to enter an address and I find streets, Del Mar in San Clemente, CA for instance. I have mixed feelings. I've updated the device weekly since getting it so I can not explain major streets missing.

Missing Streets and Slow response

I am hoping that when it's plugged in in my car that it will still display the directions.  My new Garmin did not do that.  Thus why I bought this one.

Magellan

I am very satisfied with this GPS. and the service i received from Walmart was excellent when I went to store to pick it up. Anyone looking for an easy GSP should check this one out.

Easy to operate GPS

I had an early model Magellan I loved for years so tried to get the closest replacement I could. The interface is similar but they put more detail on the screen, the print is smaller and so it's harder to read. Also the sound quality is not even close to my old GPS. It's got a tinny quality and I had to turn the volume up to max to hear over the car sounds. The old one was typically set on medium. This newer model has more configurable options which is nice, but again they make the display more cluttery and difficult for the driver to follow directions. The beauty of the older GPS was the simplicity to see exactly what route you needed to follow, not to duplicate what you view out the windshield. Sadly the newer models all seem this way. This is thinner and lighter though which is a plus.

worst gps

The gps did not work at all i got lost 3 times and all it kept saying was calculating and giving wrong directions. I am on my trip now and will be returning when i get home using my old GPS to get home
