I bought this wheel for my 2 year old to play with while I make things on my wheel (I'm a potter). Doing this for a living, I'm pretty impressed with this wheel. The clay was very dry but workable. The only things I would recommend working on is... 1. Make the wheel spin to the right. It spins to the left and that's for left-handed people...and in general most people are right handed. 2. The foot pedal is a little difficult to press down. I had to hit it just right in the middle and really push down on it. 3. Add more water to the clay mixture. It will really help kids make better pieces when the clay is more workable. I'm adding pictures of the pieces I made on this wheel. One is with the clay that came with it and one is with my own clay...you can tell which is which. Lol
My 8 year old son enjoyed this quite a bit. Unfortunately it didn't take long for on of the arms that holds the mold in place to brake off and soon after the ring that hold to mold together broke too. I haven't checked to see if these can be replaced independently. However the wheel part can still be used with out the mold. It's just harder for beginners and kids to do without the mold. So my son hasn't used it again.
It is very very very messy and it cracks a lot like on the direction that said when it gets dry a little bit put water on it I did and it broke and I said put the card in the middle and it broke so I love you just dry because I was tired and when It was dry I tried taking the plastic off of it and it cracked more so Itâs fun but it cracks a lot
For starters I ordered for my neice for Christmas. We went to make a mug and none of the tools were included. Which was supposed to be included because I brought my daughters and everything came with hers. About the product itself. We made mugs and woke up the next day to completely broken mugs that they wanted to make for there grandfather birthday. I know you get what you pay for but goodness at least the mug could have came out the way they wanted it to be. Despite the big mess and clean up. I had no idea of the huge mess it would make.
Not the great of a product. The clay does not stick.
Even after presoaking this clay just falls apart when dry. My kids were so exited to make me Mother's Day gifts out of this...only to wake up horribly upset that they were ruined and now had no gift for mommy. Of course, I told them I still love their gifts, but apparently my children worked for hours on these gifts the night before to make them perfect...also, as you can see in the picture, the clay just flakes off when try and gets EVERYWHERE.
My daughter was so excited to receive this gift... put the batteries in and turn it over the batteries loosen in the compartment causing the batteries to not work properly. So if I was in a room with no gravity and could create the pottery upside down it would be great. But I am in a room with gravity and the battery compartment is not tight enough for the batteries to remain in place as the "wheel" spins with the clay on it. So she is sculpting instead of pottering.....
You have to soften clay prior to use. It's difficult to use. Even with water it's not moldeable. Only purpose is to make a mess. Not kid friendly, my daughter is 12 yrs old and she couldn't get it to function properly.
