I've had this stove for over a year now and besides the slight discoloration on the wind clip (a normal result of high heat flame on most metal) you wouldn't even know that it wasn't fresh outta the box, its incredibly robust and durable. That said I've used the pocket rocket in all conditions and even on a mountain side its fantastic solid pot rests holds up to 5lbs. Really quick' I boil .85L in 3mins at 12,000ft which is a feat even in the summer. This is a great simmer/ sauté type stove with an incredible range of burner output and low enough to not burn for example onions and bell peppers in light oil(I love to cook real food in the backcountry) and capable of simmering pasta or rice without overcooking. No problems at all and this stove is super fuel efficient and is well worth the money I highly recommend this to backpackers that are lookin for a fully capable but lightweight/compact and versatile stove for the backcountry.

Super affordable and can manage a simmer (!) while also being capable of boiling in a flash. Loses pressure a little once it gets below about 5 degrees Celsius even with all season fuel, but still the best option at the price by far. Packs down so small your biggest issue will be remembering where you put it

I've owned my pocket rocket for 5 years. It's never failed to function. I like its adjustability from simmer to full power. It boils water very quickly. The stove is very lightweight. I've used it on a couple backpacking trip and on trips with a group of 10. Its easy for adults and teenagers to operate.

I started using MSR stoves with Larry was still around. Guiding on Denali I came to love the XGK for melting mass quantities of snow for my clients. The need that was not met by the 'Pennberthy Blowtorch' was met with the PR. There is nothing so nice as to roll over in a frost covered tent at 17,000', fire up the PR and have a hot brew before going on a summit run....even if you do have to sleep with the fuel tank at the foot of your sleeping bag! With age I have moved from high altitude, cold weather mountaineering to LDH (Long Distance Hiking). The Wonderland Trail, the Mt. Hood Loop, the Round the Mountain Trail on Mt. Adams, two Thru Hikes on the PCT, the Israel National Trail and this year the AT all are part of my Bucket List, On each and every trail the PR is waiting for me in the morning to fire up and create coffee as I prepared for the joyful labors of the day on the Trail! Never a misfire, always ready to roar, a durable and simple tools that I will carry in pack Until the final sunset! Acorn the Elder
