This is a 5 star Book..everyone needs this

This book is such a great way to start the season off preparing for Christmas. The book is full of ways to really loving your Christmas in a world of chaos, materialism and worldly expectations. This book is situated to fit anybody's real life during and leading into Christmas without feeling guilty even if you don't get it completely right the first time. This book is designed so you can tweek it to fit your actual life. This is a great "group" book for several people to live out together and share ideas. This is also a great online book for clubs, church's, MOPS groups etc.. to help others learn the fundamentals of enjoying Christmas and living it out and sharing results. This is also a great gift for those who struggle to enjoy the Christmas season because their so overwhelmed with stuff or to much on their plate..I'd recommend this book hands down as it fits all types of people and situations. This book helps to remind us of the reason for the season..Loved it!!

Practical and Inspiring

I loved this--just what I needed looking forward to this Christmas season. I WANT every year for Christmas to be special, meaningful, focused on the right things, joyful, hopeful, and important. But by the time everything piles on, it just becomes a season to survive. Therefore, I loved Kuykendall's practical and inspiring guide to clarifying Christmas expectations and having expectant hope, focusing on LOVE (tangibly, like Christ did), choosing joy even in the first-world guilt and whiplash, and accessing peace. I am recommending this to my whole MOPS group and anyone who want help to slow down and make this Christmas different. But I would definitely recommend reading it BEFORE the Christmas season begins. Some of this requires thinking ahead and having conversations about budget and expectations before you are already in the thick of it. --I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher for review purposes--

Just what I needed!

The past few years I have wanted to make some shifts in our Christmas season, but didn't really know how. (Plus, even with all of my best intentions, Christmas would seem to "sneak" up on me and I would enter the season, and remain, in a constant state of busy. Not a good feeling.) I wanted to shift toward more minimal expectations (re: gifts, schedules, activities, memories, etc) and create more opportunities for quality family time. I also want to end the season feeling content and happy, not spent (literally and figuratively). This book provides a realistic glimpse at a real mom, with a real family, with a real life, facing real ups and downs during the holiday season. As I read, I feel like I'm having a conversation with a friend who gets it! Alexandra Kuykendall shares her goal from the very beginning and with each chapter provides her readers with a focus and a plan. Her focus remains constant throughout each chapter, even through day-to-day life ups and downs. She makes this experiment do-able, which is just what I needed in order to #lovemyactualchristmas.

Embrace reality at Christmas

This book is a must read if, like me, you struggle with seeking perfection and creating magical holiday moments. Reality is far different than what we expect especially with kids thrown in the mix. This book is a timely wake up call that reminded me that I can love my actual Christmas by setting realistic expectations for myself and our family. And that through it all, prioritizing time well spent with our spouses and kids will allow us to keep our eyes on the true reason for the season. This has been a great read, easy to go through and Alex is so relatable in the experiences she shares.

Destressing Christmas

This, much like her previous book "Loving My Actual Life," combines memoir and practical application for living - and loving - life more purposefully. Admittedly, the most joyful time of the year can also be the most stressful. Kuykendall personally addresses grief as well as busyness as she attempts to celebrate the birth of our Savior. The author is relatable and writes on an level which meets her readers where they are. The book's length is in keeping with its message - sometimes less can be more. I received an advance reader copy of this book.
