Furthermore, the budget for the picture was staggering and cost almost four times the amount of any Columbia film at the time; an equivalent cost of approximately $30-$40 million today. Unfortunatly it is in B/W The box cover is deceptive. Perhaps they will have it colorized in the future.

No, and it should not be colorized! It takes away from the movie in my opinion.

It's a black and white classic, but there is another version with singing in color, but it's not as good as the original. Though I like it to.

After all these years, still a great movie!

Had to read the book in High School, plus saw the movie at that time. Have liked it ever since. Movie follows pretty much along with the book! I like those kinds!

Good feel good movie

I recommend this movie for It's message of Peace. Even though this movie came out in 1937 it's message is a good one.

Great Movie

This is a must buy for lovers of Classic Movies! There are three short sections where the film was lost. The soundtrack was available and still pictures are shown to fill the void. This takes nothing away from this superb movie and in my opinion shows how care was taken to restore the movie as close as possible to the original. The special features are also great with alternate takes of the beginning and ending of the movie. Delted scenes are also included. My only negative criticism is the flimsy keepcase in which it is packaged. Don't think twice, rush and buy yourself a copy today!

Superb

classic film at a good price. a real treasure

I was so happy to see this movie was available. The quality is as expected...this was a movie that was lost in its original screen version and had to be reconstructed from pieces. About 7 minutes of the video track was lost completely, but the entire audio track is complete. The film's restoration was painstaking, but worth it for those who find it fascinating. The story is timeless...a search for a meaningful life, stumbling on Shangri-La, loosing it, and then trying to find it again. The book, written by James Hilton, is also worth the read.

This is totally a classic! An unforgettable story. One of the few black and white movies my family will watch.
