Great Sizzle
This pan is small enough so I don't have to pull out my large grill/griddle. It heats up quickly and puts a nice sear and grill marks on my chicken. Easy to clean after a soak in hot water. I really enjoy using this.

I'm giving this a 1 star for the way it was packaged and delivered. The skillet itself is a good skillet but I was very disappointed with Walmart's warehouse. I recieved this skillet with some in the corners of the skillet and bottom of the skillet was something spilled on it and it was greasy.

Lodge cast iron review from a first time buyer

Verified purchase

Great weight to it. Food did not stick. I followed the instructions on arrival: 1) Washed well with my green Dawn detergent and water due to covid-19. 2)Dried well with a paper towel within EVERY SINGLE CREVIS. 3)Warmed it up slowly on the counter top to remove imbedded water. 4)Added a small drop of vegetable oil

Great For Grilled Look and Taste

Verified purchase

This cast iron grill pan is awesome for grilling any steak, burgers, pork loins or hotdogs or just about anything. My grandson likes the grill marks that are left on the food. I even made corn on the cob in it. I like that it was pre seasoned and so that made it ready to just start grilling in. It is a little harder to clean than skillets that can be put in the dishwasher but worth it for the grilled look and taste.

I love all the Lodge cast iron, they come pre-seasoned, but I always reseason all my new cast iron at least twice before I ever use it, I do it the old fashion way with lard, outside on my charcoal grill as hot as I can get it and for several hours recoating the inside several times and then making sure it cooks until all the lard is cooked into the iron, coating the inside bottoms especially, then I'm ready for years of fine cooking. When people say that food sticks they do not have the inside bottoms seasoned like they are supposed to be and I never use anything to clean except warm water and a paper towel, dry off and put away. If you cook on it often you should not have to put oil on it if it is properly seasoned and don't worry about germs and whatnot because when you preheat your pans, as you should before you use them but not too hot, it kills everything.

Beyond what we expected

Verified purchase

We bought a NuWave induction burner but didn't want to pay their price for the grill accessory. I ordered this one at 1/3 of their price and used it last night for a steak. It was perfect and cooked evenly and fast. With cooler weather approaching a great alternative to outside grilling.

Best Cast Iron Cookware I've ever owned

Verified purchase

This is truly an exceptional product. Well beyond my greatest expectations. It's the best thing I've ever bought from Walmart. It heavier than any other piece I own and it performs magnificently. Lodge Mfg. is truly the best, and only, source for American Cast Iron.

Sticky Situation

Verified purchase

Have been using cast iron all my life, not that it helped me here. Claimed to be preseasoned, though they warned you might need to add oil the first few times just to be sure. Added oil. Everything stuck worse than anything I have ever seen. Tossed it in the garbage immediately. Life is too short. Would have given one star but have had good luck with Lodge in the past.

10. All traditional Lodge cast iron is proudly made in South Pittsburg Tennessee in the heart of the Appalachians. To be honest I would not buy any of the enamel coated product... why? Defeats the purpose of cast iron and if the enamel chips it looks awful.

1. You may be cooking at too high a temperature. Try turning the burner down. I had this happen the first time I grilled pork chops. I mentioned it to a friend and she told me that I had the pan too hot.
by HomeImprovementQueen

2. It was pre-seasoned from the factory and probably a bit heavily if it was smoking before you put food on it to cook. Also you may have had the griddle to hot for the food you were cooking if it smoked heavily after you started cooking the food. The grill pan to hot for the food I was cooking was my mistake in the beginning.

10. Did you get the waxed coating off that the factory puts on it for safer transportation. You need to wash with hot and soapy water to get the wax coating off then, use it . Just remember to rub down with oil or spray it after you hand dry it.
