This yarn is soft and cuddly. I use it to knit hats and scarves for cancer patients. That's why softness is important. The yarn is also a great value, very important because the hats and scarves are all donated.

Lion Brand Super Bulky 94% Acrylic Yarn
This yarn unravels very easily and comes in a very limited amount of colors. I will finish my project but I will not use this particular yarn again.

Lots of yarn for the dollar

This three pack of yarn was a great value. The yarn itself I've been using over the past 2 years and the projects always turn out well. This pack was enough to make an infinity scarf.

Excellent yarn

I love working with the Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn! Great colors! Great for making beautiful blankets, throws and scarfs! So very soft, chunky and warm!

Unbeatable Price

One of my favorite yarns at an unbeatable price. What more could I want? Most places had it listed for over $5 per skein, so under $10 for 3 is great! Makes buying in bulk for afghans less painful, lol.

Very nice yarn.

This is a soft, bulky yarn that works up very quickly. I used the color Aspen Tweed for a throw and a small pillow cover but it would be very nice for use in a scarf. I will use it again.

1. The yarn knits up beautifully, but I haven't washed it yet so I don't know if it pills.
by Krispypep
2. This yarn would make for a beautiful sweater because it has a lot of give and is very soft! I'm not sure what you mean by "pill" but I'm imagining you mean does it form small "balls" in places on the finished product. So far as I have knitted this is not a problem. The knitted area does not stretch out or turn inward at the sides either but holds it shape real well.
by KnittingWhiz
3. This is a blend. So it will pill especially if put in the dryer. Always air dry.
by KnitKnot
4. In my opinion I would not use this yarn for a sweater. It is much too thick and heavy. I have not washed my afghan yet so I can't answer if it pills. It does not do so while first working with the yarn.
by suzyB54
5. you can make any number of lovely sweaters with this, and I have not found it to pill at all after numerous washes - machine washes. Happy knitting/crocheting!
by JRfromILCustomer
6. no.....if it is washed with like items. If you wash it with towels, or jeans, yes it will pill.
by 1knittinggranny
7. Hello Pearl - Thank you, for your Question. Yes, it does 'pill'. I would only recommend this type of chunky/thick yarn for a 'Sweater', if it's a very loose fitting design. I, myself would/do use it for 'Shawls & Shugs'. Hope this helps. - TheYarnHorder :-}
by TheYarnHorder
8. It would not be suitable for a sweater. It is bulky and knits up loosely - perfect, however, for hats and scarves.
by BuggandBuzz
9. So far, it does not pill (Just finished knitting a sweater), but it is hairy and sensitive to snags.
by LilMissPiggy
10. It would take many skeins for an adult sweater, but it would be beautiful. It shouldn't pill if dryed on low.
by MacNanaONE
11. It gets a little fuzzy, but looks nice

1. It is acrylic - I would use 100% cotton for potholders. Sugar & Cream is good for pot holders.
by suzismf
2. This is an acrylic, so it will melt but not without high heat. With a tight stitch it should work well.
by DiRayne
3. I would not recommend for potholders Try Sugar n Cream instead
by RayofSunshineDesigns
4. I think it would be too thin for potholders. You need a thicker yarn.
by Winningruth
5. I would probably use double strands or a smaller hook(8mm or so) than recommended on package if using for potholders. The thicker/tighter it is crocheted/knitted the better. I have used double strand ww acrylic for cast iron handle covers and the heat doesnt get thru so this would probably work fine.
by Julie86
6. I personally would not. Acrylic may melt and it tends to heat up so it probably would not protect your hands. I would use a cotton yarn.
by mixaleena
7. I don't see why not. Just use a tight stitch.
by Doubleseed
8. this yarn is very thick and don't think it would make a good potholder.
by carey01
9. Yes, if worked with a tight gauge
by Knitterbychoice
10. i wouldn't use this for potholders due to the fact that it seems if you wash it and use it heavily it will get fuzzy i think. potholders work good with cotton, this yarn is acrylic.
by kitticat
11. It's a thick yarn. It takes a N crochet needle. I would use a smaller yarn.

1. Label states 81 yds - but it isn't consistent - my purple skein had way less yardage than the yellow - I don't measure mass produced yarn as I assume consistency - but this yarn was way off.
by suzismf
2. These are super bulky, 5oz balls of yarn, 81yd.
by BigPoppafgc
3. The number of ounces in a skein will depend on the manufacturer, quality of yarn, type of yarn, weight of yarn and also additions to the yarn among other things. It would be wise to contact the manufacturer to get the details of yarn in the skein to be able to know its exact ounces.
