Great Laptop for Business! Performs like a work horse when it comes to running all business related software. Large display size is also great for accounting and when you need to put 2 screens side by side. Highly Recommended.
Dazzle yourself & others
Choose the low-power FHD option for ultimate battery life on your T490s, or go with the FHD touchscreen. For refined details, increased brightness, and amazingly accurate colors, dramatic Dolby Vision® high-dynamic-range (HDR) technology is available on the WQHD panel. No matter which display you choose, they’re all framed by a new narrow bezel design that results in a larger display area.
Acts on your command
With Cortana Premium, you can speak commands to your T490s from across the room. The integrated far-field microphones ensure your voice carries its weight. Wake your device with a simple phrase. Quickly and easily find files and calendar events. Even put your system into standby mode to improve battery performance. Speak your mind and boost your productivity at the same time.
Tested for battle, built for life
Like all ThinkPads, the T490s is tested against 12 military-grade requirements and more than 200 quality checks to ensure they run in extreme conditions. From the Arctic wilderness to desert dust storms, from zero gravity to spills and drops, you can trust this laptop to handle whatever life throws your way.
Go from 0 to 80 in 60
The T490s delivers up to 20 hours of battery life*. And if you’re running low, Rapid Charge technology provides 80% capacity in just an hour. So a 60-minute lunch break or a layover can easily boost your battery up to almost 16 hours. What more could you need for life on the go?
*Based on testing with MobileMark 2014 on the low-power FHD display panel. Battery life varies significantly with settings, usage, and other factors. Note that Rapid Charge requires the 65W power adapter.
What happens on your PC stays on your PC
Unless you decide to share it. For confidential data that needs to remain secure from roaming eyes, the T490s offers an FHD panel with PrivacyGuard—an exclusive technology that narrows the field of view of the screen info from all angles other than head-on. ThinkShutter, a physical cover that you can slide open when you want to use the camera and closed when you're finished, is now available on all camera options. You can also add an optional IR (infrared) camera and optional touch fingerprint reader for biometric login.
Whether you’re out in the world or working at your desk, the T490s keeps you connected. The optional LTE-A card keeps you up and running worldwide*. While the ThinkPad Pro Dock (sold separately), a USB-C side mechanical docking station easily connects with two male Type-C ports that snap into and automatically level your device. Once docked, your ThinkPad stays securely in place and connects to all of your peripherals.
*WWAN must be configured at time of purchase, as it’s not upgradeable.

What makes a good laptop? For me it is capability, battery life, price, and design. For this computer, i'd give it 4/5 for capability. It does almost everything perfect. it is fast and responsive. The display is bright and crisp. The only complaint that is in regard to the speaker. Some times the speaker struggle like there is to much grain. sound is not crisp, volume is decent. Not the best but certainly not the worst. Its nothing i would complain about until the sound starts to bleed. Everything else is magnificent tho, i am really satisfied by the speed at which get done. Battery life is a 5/5. I had the lenovo yoga 920 glass before and the issue i had with it is that it would die sooner than i expected it too even when i dont crack it open. With this i do not have that issue. I get 12-14 hours easy. Design i would give a 4/5. Its not super flashy but it has a business/industrial design that says you mean business. The touch pad and hand rest areas can be a bit of a finger print/grease magnet but the keys are clicky and responsive. The battery light indicator on the hood of the lap top is a nice touch. Price I give 5/5. Im not a super computer nerd but i got the 256gb model with the I7 chip for somewhere around 1100 bucks. And specifications are one thing but actually using this beast is another! i believe this computer is worth every dollar I put into it. Other computers will be just as good as this one but will be in the 1500-1800 price range and will probably not have as good of a battery. This is one of the best values you can get for any kind of laptop. This is a good laptop if you are looking to get things done. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have played on this laptop for a few days now and i cannot find anything wrong with this laptop. It just works. It feels strong. It feels durable. It's powerful. I know it will accompany me for many working days to come! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
It is a good laptop if you look for performance. However, it is not that much good if you consider speakers and visual stuff. I bought i7 vPro - 8GB RAM - 512 GB SSD and it is so far so good. Sometimes I got some error messages related to hardware but it didn't affect my usage. I have been using this laptop for 2 weeks. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I got this laptop as a present from my mom for my 40th birthday and I couldn't be more happy! I had a T420s for 7 years and it was still going strong so I knew I'm going to get the newer model. It is so slim, and quick and very intuitive. I love the back lit keyboard and the mouse pad. The only thing I don't like, which isn't a Lenovo product actually, is my "upgrade" to Windows 10. Windows 7 was, and still is, much easier to navigate and work with. There is a lot of redundancy in Windows 10. Overall though I'm very happy with my new Lenovo! I thinks lenovo Ts line of laptop is the most valued product in the market. I have purchased this brand three times already: t430s, t460s and t490s. Whenever I plan to buy a new laptop, I carefully compare all aspect of almost all available laptops in the market, ThinkPad Ts series have always taken the top. Despite of its light weight, t490s shows good performance. In addition, ThinkPad's famous red ball and tangible keyboard are still there. Of course, I will not argue this laptop is perfect. First flaw that I found is the CPU coil whine issue. When CPU is busy, some noise high pitch annoying happens. In quite environment, it sounds louder. The another flaw is light leakage on the LCD screen. It is not ignorable for the black filled scene, e.g., movie. Lastly, if you expect a vivid screen like the retina display, you would be disappointed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
First let me say that I absolutely love this laptop, its fast, lightweight, and the keyboard is amazing. I switched from being solely a Dell XPS user for 8 years and thought I would give a ThinkPad a chance... I have seen some other reviews about Lenovo's decrease in quality which I ignored and of course just a month after purchase I am treated to a line of dead pixels today. This review would have been five stars as I love everything else about this laptop, but I am disappointed that the quality clearly isnt there with my screen having issues after a month of light use.
