Such a trash product !!

I bought a ThinkPad 10 tablet for myself as a holiday gift when doing black Friday shopping. After 10 days delay of shipping I eventually received it. I immediately noticed the screen very frequently turned off when I move the tablet a little bit, which means I have to leave the tablet on desk to use it, instead of holding it by hands. One week later, the screen was totally dead. And then I return it, and got replacement. Several days later, I noticed the left speaker of the new one does not work. I gave a lot of try, but it always did not work. Again, I filled the return form online. So far one week was gone, I have not got any feedback from Lenovo. This is my first time to buy Lenovo's computer, and have this unforgettable experience. If someone has a plan to buy computer from Lenovo, be aware that the ThinkPad is not the previous prestige brand any more. I have to head back to Dell, and will never buy Lenovo again. Thank you Lenovo, you guys make me so busy this holiday season.

Poor purchase

Doesn't work half the time, gets "confused" easily and frustrating to operate. Will work better with apps then as a PC or surfing the web. I know they don't make them anymore, but due to this product I will never buy another Lenova product.

"Starter" Tablet for Work

Customer review by MDAres

The ThinkPad Tablet 2 will fit anyone's bill for work related duties (both in terms of performance and value). The Atom processor with Windows 8 Pro works well enough to handle most if not all my Office 2010 tasks. To "push it", I've installed Adobe CS6 and in most cases the I only experience minor studdering. I am also comfortably getting nearly the 10 hours of battery life as advertised. I take it in to work in the morning after an overnight charge, use it on the train (1 hour) and all during work (up to 5 hours of cumulative usage); and I still end up with half a charge of power left; which then lasts me for another full day of use. Lastly the pen is much better than what most video reviews show. I've used the pen almost exclusively and I have not experienced any noticeable delays, etc.

Promising but unreliable

The device has promise but it has broken down twice in 2 months (camera, motherboard and speakers). Lenovo tech support answers quickly and tried to troubleshoot over the phone. The first time they had it for three weeks and replaced both cameras and motherboard. Now the right speaker stopped working. Its back to Lenovo for repair. I still like the form factor and have come to like Windows 8 but this tablet model seems to have serious reliability problems. Sorry folks - find another model, I can't recommend this one and I can't afford to replace it so I have to live with it. Lenovo - are you listening??? Great service / bad quality. About the same time I bought a auto-winding watch for $1 on eBay from China. The watch is still working - the $600 tablet has had to be repaired twice.

I wish I was using the same device as you guys.

I was excited. But when loading software, I discovered the USB port is too underpowered for my USB-powered hard drive. No problem with flash drive, but it took a while as expected. I began to do some word processing, email, and web browsing. The screen started refusing finger input. Research into this reveals that this is uncommon but not unheard-of. I concluded that this particular tablet is just lemony, and attempted to base my judgments on when the device is working normally. LetDown3: I should be able to stream Netflix. I cannot; the lag between sound and video becomes obvious in 10 seconds, followed by the whole task blipping in vain to keep up. No, it's not my network. I wish I was using the same device as you guys. I could love this, but the machine I hold is unusable.

expensive rubbish

I though that this was the mobile work computer that I've been wanting for the last 15 years but charging port, keyboard, RAM, errors and restarting, digitiser issues make using this tablet infuriating and very time consuming. It started with a broken charging port after a weeks use that took a month to be repaired. New computer to replace it, no. I've twice uninstalled/reinstalled the bluetooth driver to get the keyboard to pair. Computer is very slow and under powered doing simple tasks. Sometimes it requires rebooting up 5 times to get a program to open. Despite calibrating the digitiser again and again it remains inaccurate especially with word 2013. Very expensive, including the keyboard it cost about $1100 Au. All in all a useless work computer, maybe surface 2 .......

Disappointed with this tablet

Have had a history of blue-screens, I think perhaps from immature drivers because my Windows 8 desktops do not bluescreen. Also needs to be reboot often because Windows pushes out updates frequently that require reboots. That means often waiting on it to download, update, and reboot far more often than with Android or iPad tables. (I have one of each) Ordered one for personal use and stopped using it for lack of good touch apps and awkward use as an ultrabook / notebook replacement for desktop apps. Also ordered one to try out at a client, and after 15 months it will not power on. Some fault is with Windows 8, and some with Lenovo. Bottom line, less than 1 and ½ years later neither of these two ThinkPad Tablet 2’s are being used. I wouldn't recommend this tablet.

Very Good little tablet

Overall - I like this little tablet. There are some quirks and I would not recommend it for anything but light windows office work and e-mail. It is the first tablet that does a great job allowing me to take notes in my own hand writing. Office: 2013 only. Tends to get bogged down if you do not restart regularly. Bluetooth mouse is basically unusable. No issues with WiFi anywhere - works great. I did find some applications that flat would not load because of the Atom processor. When using the dock, I have no problems running a 24" monitor as the second screen in full 1920 X 1080 mode. Recharging - you must use the Lenovo recharger that comes with the tablet. Using a compatible adapter will result in very slow to non existent recharging as mentioned in other reviews.

Getting Better

I rated this very poorly a few months ago. Well, since then, I have had two boards replaced, BIOS replaced, rear camera replaced and software issues remedied. I think it's where it's supposed to be now and seems to work well. So, given the issues I have had and other reviews, I conclude there was poor quality processes in place for the production of these machines. The lucky ones got a very nice machine. The unlucky ones got an expensive paperweight. As others have said, not what is expected of ThinkPad products which I have come to depend on for high quality machines. So, I have raised my reviews of the tablet but it's taken almost a year to make it work well enough to give modest ratings. I noticed that this tablet is not for sale any longer. Not surprised.

Horrible Device for Business Use

Customer review by Porterhaus

We purchased five of these units along with the bluetooth keyboard and a few other accessories for evaluation purposes within our enterprise. The honeymoon was quickly over as we had nothing but problems with the units right out of the box. One unit blue screened, another would not recognize the operating system and a third gave use the new windows unhappy face that said there was a problem with the OS. Trying to run repair on the unit just turned it into a brick. We had to call Lenovo to get special restore discs sent so we could reimage the units. Once we finally got the units working we had nothing but trouble with the bluetooth keyboards constantly dropping their pairing. We have since moved to the Lenovo Helix and have nothing but praise for that unit.
