Purchase this laptop last november , did not purchase the top of the line customization, boot up was the same as other laptop, i got a dell xps 17 crashed reboot works great, then upgrade the lenovo and now it is fast got a few software that loads in second rather than my xps, keyboard not that bad , tried to do a backup just in case my system crashed, hard to get support from lenovo support , so i just got a recovery disk back-up, not a lot of apps to get rid off still trying preloaded software if needed or not, if you want your laptop win prem or pro go pro, it is worth the upgrade, this is my first lenovo laptop so still trying to make it work a lot.One of the thing im looking for is to make my battery last longer , my dell got a software will disconnect your laptop if the battery is full this does'nt. Some of my software dont want to work on my dell thats why i got this and just install with no problem .

If there are 50 ways to lose your lover, 50 ways to love your liver there are at least 50 ways to love Lenovo, the Think Pad that does just that. It practically thinks for me. I was apprehensive about switching from my usual brand of computer/laptop (I even felt a bit of a traitor) until I made this purchase. From the support on initial purchase to the use of this incredible work of technology I LOVE my Lenovo. I have had no problem using it, right from the start. As a published author I pound away 8 days a week on all sorts of projects. The keyboard is so comfortable I was hooked right off the bat. The services and other customized perks cannot be beat. The built in overhead light; brilliant! To me it's just the overall way the computer almost anticipates my needs. So easy to use. Techies will go crazy for it and so will novices such as myself who are often frightened into getting what they've been comfortable with. I'm glad I went out on a limb for this investment. I'm glad the NAPW showed me the way to THINKING clearly about my choice in a new laptop. I absolutely LOVE IT! It is now my new best friend. Thanks Lenovo!

Its works well when you first get it, then performance starts to die over time, however, its been working well for about 3 years.

Lenovo T-530 (First Lenovo)

I did a lot of research before buying my newest laptop, a T-530. I ALSMOST didn't buy it because of all of the negative reviews on the changing of the keyboard. So I have to admit, I never experienced this older version keyboard with the blue enter key, so perhaps I don't know what I missed, but with that said, this is the absolute best laptop I've ever owned! I like this keyboard and have noticed my typing errors have decreased because of the widely spaced keys and good feel of the keyboard in general. This unit feels solid and I just really like working on it. I can already say for sure, when our other poorly made company laptops fall apart, we will definitely be replacing with these Lenovo T-530's. I guess I'm sold on this product. I'll write another review after I've punished this one in the field for a year.

I have been a Thinkpad owner for over a decade. And with every release the they seem to get a little worse. A laptop is all about the keyboard and the monitor. Something the new R&D folks seem to forget. The new keyboard layout on the T530 is worse then the T520. Instead of expanding the keyboard size and leveraging the wasted speaker space they shrunk the keyboard further making the esc key a non-key like the Dell products. Why would you intentionally frustrate those folks that use the esc key. Yes old programers exist, and yes they like a boring keyboard with a big esc key. If I wanted to buy a machine to play games on them I could do without the esc. Either way each year I find it harder and harder to defend my purchases of Thinkpad laptops. The new design is just another nail in the coffin.

1. The wireless off/on button on the left hand button does not work. Once it is turned off, the system fails to recognize wireless networks after it is turned on. It need to restart the system to connect to the wifi. 2. The wifi driver installed on the system was too old. It fails to recognize certain wireless networks altogether. 3. While using this laptop to code on remote server, a button pressed is displayed 100-200 times on the screen. This issue is not seen with other computers with the same server/vnc session. 5. I failed to play a CD in the CD-ROM. There is noise of CD spinning inside the hardware, but it does not show up on my computer. Failed to enable it via BIOS. Overall, It was bad experience with this machine till now. Be careful before you get your hands on this machine.

The only disappointment is the keyboard...

This thinkpad is a beast. The overall computer is nothing but the greatest of what a ThinkPad today has to offer. This line of computers are much better than what other brands have to offer. The drivers seem to work smoothly with the newest Windows 8. The only upsetting art though, and this is actually upsetting, is that the keyboard is not what it used to be, it is as though the keys were re-arranged and where they were put do not make much sense compared to the original Thinkpad keyboard that they have used since the early 90's, and when the insert key is missing (in some previous models) it would be much smarter to have a BIOS option to disable it or not. So though this Thinkpad means well, it seems as though the design that it has been known and proud of is starting to loose it's bite.

Almost superb

This is a great product with a typical Thinkpad heritage in design and build quality. The weight loss over predecessors in the line is pronounced and very welcome. Not overly enamored of the 16:9 screen size, but that seems to be the new way, so I may as well get used to it. Two things stand out for me as steps backward - the keyboard layout and the lack of a CRU battery. Of the two, the keyboard is by far the biggest nuisance. For some reason, Lenovo decided to use the consumer layout, which is sub-optimal to my way of using it. The function keys lost their gaps, which made it so easy to find the right one in low lights (think airplane). As well, the wonderfully handy navigation buttons in the lower right are replaced with a less friendly configuration. Also, some of the other handy things are either missing or moved to a different location - such as the delete key. Enough about the keyboard - I will miss my T410 layout, but it's in the past (sigh!). The good news is that the wonderful touch is still there and that will have to carry the day for me. Overall, I give this product a 7 for design, an 8 for quality, and a 9 for curbside appeal. NET: an 8+ and another Thinkpad winner!

I've had this T530 for two months. I5 chip, 500 GB drive, 8 GB ram, 1600x900 screen, 6 cell battery. Windows 7 I don't do heavy graphics, just business type stuff. Performance is excellent, boot time is 30 sec, login longer because of all the stuff I load. I am a very experienced computer guy but don't stretch the system performance-wise. Screen is GORGEOUS. I am very surprised and happy at how sharp and vivid it is. No glare, sharp, great colors, etc. Keyboard is great. I didn't have the old one that people pine for so I can't compare to that. The keys feel great in all respects, I have no complaints. Battery life -- about 2 hours at full brightness. Battery meter is laughable -- very innacurate. But it lasts 2 hours, no matter what the meter says. I consider 2 hours to be average

Lightening fast. But a bit 'plasticky"

Customer review by LiamScanlan

When I first opened the packaging, the laptop did feel a bit plasticky compared to the t61 I had for years, but I got to appreciate the lighter feel after using it for a while. I immediately threw away the Windows 7 and installed Linux Ubuntu and the machine is lightening fast. I went for the solid state disk drive and the i7 chip. That combination with Ubuntu now is amazing. It boots from cold to login screen in about 4 or 5 seconds. And login in after that takes about 2 seconds. It's so fast, it feels like a trick. The backlit keyboard is excellent. That's a fantastic improvement. I had my last one for 5 years, travelled the world with it and hammered away on it so much, the letters on the keyboard were wearing. That's why I opted for Lenovo again. Unbeatable durability.
