We have been working on STEM/ STEAM activities for some time now. While I have the science, math, art and engineering activities pretty well situated finding suitable technology has been harder for me to incorporate. When we look for new toys we are always looking at what and how the kids will be learning from them. By introducing children to the fun of coding and puzzle solving with this colorful, programmable mouse with a build-able customizable maze we have introduced our technology. This toy offers a great way to introduce young children to science, technology, engineering, and math. Children program the mouse with easy push-button controls to follow their created maze and find the cheese. The Mouse lights up and makes adorable sounds setup is perfect for tabletop or floor play. My children love setting the maze up in different ways. Children experience STEM through hands-on activities and experiments while challenging them to think critically, solve problems effectively. While this toy is definitely ideal for ages five plus my three year old also loves helping his big brother and sister set up the maze and he really enjoys watching the mouse after it has been programmed go through the maze. I have also let me try coding just on a much smaller scale where the mouse only needs to be programed one to five paces. If it is nice and simple my three year old can feel accomplished and we can work towards more complicated coding. There are also two different kinds of cards that come with the Learning Resources Stem Robot Mouse Coding Activity Set. One type of card is a maze card that shows examples of mazes you can setup, they help to give ideas. My kids do prefer creating their own mazes. But it is also a learning experience to try and duplicate and follow an example. The other type of card is one that helps with the coding. The cards have the symbols for the coding patterns so you lay out each card in front of you so you can see t

Pleased all ages
I now only wish we had bought one for our 12 year old twin grandchildren as well as for our 4 year old granddaughter. It takes a bit of working out, even for adults. We opted not to buy the board provided, but to run the mouse on a wooden floor with obstacles provided as needed.
A great way to teach coding to toddlers and preschoolers!
I was skeptical that anything could introduce my 2.5 year old to coding. It seemed like a pretty technical concept, but when we were gifted the Robot Mouse (we also have the activity set) I was curious to see if she could pick up on it. My husband first brought it out and the two of them went through a couple of the action cards. She laughed and giggled and loved watching the mouse go. Fast forward two weeks and I pulled it out to use again. She remembered how to follow the cards and program the mouse! I am very happy with this product and the fact that it can be used for years as my child grows. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Code & Go Robot Mouse Activity Set
Code & Go Robot Mouse Activity Set What an awesome learning I wanted to share this really neat learning & building hands-on coding skills. The neat thing about this is your children can build their own maze, and then they can use the coding cards to create a step by step to create a path for the programmable robot "Colby Mouse". The next step was to program the sequence of steps, and then watch Colby Mouse find the cheese. My granddaughter had a blast with creating the different paths for Colby Mouse to follow and to find the cheese. All, while she is, was playing with this she was learning to create paths and learning skills. Now, what comes in the Code & Go Robot Mouse Activity Set includes 30 double sided coding cards, cheese wedge, 10 doubled sided activity cards and an activity guide to provide a hands-on introduction to coding concepts. Now on to creating your own path, there are 16 maze grids to create a 20" x 20" maze board, 22 maze wall, and 3 tunnels for the endless possibilities. Now for the cute Colby Mouse he lights up, makes sounds, and Colby Mouse has 2-speed features along with colorful buttons that match the coding cards which makes for easy programming and sequencing. Colby Mouse takes 3 AAA batteries (Not Included in the Kit). With this Maze, you can add multiple players with Jack, the programmable Robot Mouse (Not Included in the Kit) you would have to purchase the add-ons. This is a great skill learning game for children and simple for them to setup.
Educational, engaging and Fun
My kids absolutely LOVED this, especially my 8 year old. The first time we played with it, he played with it for almost 2 hours. He whizzed right through the 20 cards and started creating his own mazes and "obstacle courses" for Colby the mouse. Set up and clean up was easy, the kids loved the little noises Colby made when he connected with the cheese, and they loved how his eyes lit up. I'm very satisfied and happy with this toy, and I'm sure we'll get a lot of use out of it.
Great for Pre-K and K students
I bought this for my Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students. They absolutely love using the little mouse! It took some time for them to figure out how to properly connect the green square pieces. If not connected correctly, the platform sits crookedly. They are excited to create new paths to help the mouse get to the cheese. They do need some help with more complicated paths.
I would purchase this product again.
My students loved working with this product. It was easy to learn how to use it and the students have found a lot of success! Great for beginning coders and easy for me to understand!
Great product, great price!
I bought a set of these for use in our school with K-2 students. They are so much fun! They are very cute and the kids love them. These mice are easy to use and the students had no trouble operating them. They don't always make a full 90 degree turn, but when that happens the kids very easily gave it a nudge to help it out. It depends on what surface you are using them on. There are other similar products out there at a much higher cost. This little toy is a great price for great functionality. I've already recommended this product to others and I'd do it again!
Cutest Junk We Have
A for 4 for concept. A 1 for quality. I have toys and mechanicals that ar 40 years old. This lasted one year. We enjoyed it, with 5 year old, then set It aside for some months to introduce other learnings. Then today at 6 years reintroduced Colby. He was able to create maze and was excited to see colby grab the cheese. Colby would program but as noted in many other reviews wheels would not engage. The product was not cheap and does not look cheap. There is no troubleshooting in manual. Fond nothing online from Learning Resources. Do not buy this it is good looking Junk. until they commit to correct and stand by their product I will never buy from them again. I am really disappointed. Again, do not be fooled by 5 star that is only good for less than a year then stops working. Why are they having a problem fixing the wheels. The programmers are having rug pulled by mechanical engineers. What good is a great car engine if the axle breaks within a few miles? And no obe knows how to fix the wxle. Just expect consumer to buy new car. NO!
I just receive my purchase today 18 march and it doesn't work. I'm disappointed because I had bought one last year and when we had to change the batteries, it did not work again. That's why I have purchased another and it costs a lot with money exchange and it's not working. I can not offer it to my niece for her birthday.
